Spring Test Drive Meme!

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found  here.

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

"Well, believe it or not, but we've been...summoned, I guess you can say. By the ones who would call this place home- the Agrii," Cal explains. "'Kidnapped' seems the popular term. We're not exactly sure how they managed to bring us here, but they've determined us to be their 'heroes' that will fix things here so they can return home."

He shrugs, knowing that the explanation is hard to believe, much less makes sense. If they'd gotten here by ship it would have been at least a little easier to stomach, but they were dealing with so many unknowns here.

"I'm no hero." The force with which he spits it out is astonishing even to himself and he wonders when his hatred of the Jedi had turned inward. He'd always hated externally, had wanted to eliminate other Force users. Now, with Rey to consider, he wants to destroy himself. It's frustrating.

"I have no desire to help anyone but myself. I want off this planet and back into a system I recognize so I am able to rendezvous with potential allies - even if they're allies of convenience. This does not help me at all."

The feeling behind those three words makes Cal step back, suppressing a shiver. There's something more to it though, but it's not something he can discern. Still, the fact that the man has so far been at least willing to talk over proving use of his weapon is much more preferable.

"You're not the only one who feels that way," he assures. "But if it were that easy to get back, I'm sure some of us wouldn't be here as long as we have." He hasn't been here longer than most, but at the very least he would have appreciated the option to help and to come and go.

"So in a way, everyone here in the city is probably as much an ally of convenience as anything right now."

"Very well. I guess we can be allies - for now." It's only the barest hint of trust, though, because Ren himself doesn't know who to trust. He'd had one idea of himself, one thing he'd shaped himself to be, and a desert rat who called herself a Jedi had changed that for him. He still doesn't trust himself, much less anyone else, and it's hard to put confidence in any alliance if he isn't coming to the table with some faith.

"Is there at least a ship I can work on? I'm not great with repairs but I could try." HIs grandfather and his uncle were brilliant with them. So is Rey. Is there a way he could have inherited something of it? Any of it?

"We could at least put our energy toward escape."

That response surprises him, and Cal himself isn't sure how much he can trust the man either. He remembers Hux's warning, but there's still such a contrast between the man who had been on the network and the one who stands here before him now. This person is strong in the Force. Better to err on the side of caution, but that's been nothing new for Cal.

He nods before he can be caught hesitating too long. "It's better than the alternative." A flicker of a smile touches his lips, and he nods at the lightsaber. "You mind putting that away? Not like I have any weapons myself."

The question of ships has the padawan glance off elsewhere, mentally recalling where about in the city he is and the direction the hangar would be. "There are actually several ships. They're not quite like the ones I've worked on, but I've only seen the interior of one. It doesn't seem like they casually admit people in either, unfortunately. But I can show you where they are."
