Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found  here.

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

[For a moment, Catra seems vulnerable, ears flicking at the unfamiliar sight, before she grows guarded again and edges away from the stranger.]

...I've never seen them before. [She admits with a low grumble.]

[backoff]

[ Did she growl at him? Cloud has had that happen before from a rat lab dog. He notices the ears flickering and the shadow of a tail. He stays where he is and keeps his arms at his sides. ]

[ He's surprised by the fact she hasn't seen stars. ] Is there a reason you haven't before?

[ There's a small pause while he softly admits. Because he wasn't here to be threatening. ] I came out here to look at them myself.

[heeeyadora]

...We don't have them...where I'm from.

[It was a long story. But it had been a thousand years since there had been stars over Etheria.]

...They're beautiful. [She looked more than a little uncomfortable with just how vulnerable she was being, and frowned pointedly, tail giving a slow wag.]

[backoff]

[ Cloud knew of a certain captain that would probably lose his mind if he heard that. ]

Did something else take their place?

[ Once he looks closer at the pointed ears he realizes she's more cat like. Cloud has bad luck trying to befriend cats. ] Yeah, they're different from the stars I'm used to seeing.

[heeeyadora]

[She shakes her head, still watching the sky.]

Just...space. Dark...

[She turns her head to Cloud with a curious tilt.]

Different how? How can you tell?

[backoff]

[ Cloud presses his lips together while down casting his eyes. ]

Emptiness.

[ It's the first thing that came to mind. He looks back up at her while giving a small shrug. ]

Placement of the stars. You grow used to looking at one night sky for so long. You'll see those differences.

[heeeyadora]

Mm. [She frowns softly, not sure she can see any discernible patterns in the stars at first glance that you might learn to miss.]

...So who are you anyway?

[backoff]

[ Cloud's no artist but she's seeing a painting for the first time. Darkness had been a blank canvas. If they go off planet she might see a different pattern at that point. ]

Cloud Strife. [ There's a small pause before he speaks again. ] And you are?

[heeeyadora]

[It's a moment before she replies as well, before finally offering up-] Catra. ...How long have you been stuck in this place? [She fingers with the edge of her claws uncertainly, like she's not really sure how to do this small talk thing.]

[backoff]

[ He's not really all that good at small talk. Cloud tries his best at it when there's moments where it's needed. ] For a couple of days now. It doesn't seem all that bad.

[ If anything he would be remain calm and search if other's were looking for a way back to their home worlds. Doing that kind of stuff alone wouldn't be smart. ]

[heeeyadora]

Mm. [Catra nods, though she doesn't look all that convinced, tail wrapping loosely round herself. She doesn't trust it to stay that way.] For now.

[backoff]

[ Cloud could hope that it'll stay at least this way for a bit. He won't deny her for now. Situations can turn up and they would have to deal with them as they come. ] Better to take things day by day.

[heeeyadora]

[Catra scoffs, and shakes her head.]

Better to be prepared for when it all goes wrong.

[backoff]

[ Cloud looks at her quietly, perhaps taking his time to think over his next set of words. ]

We can prepare all we want, but we could still end up being taken by surprise by something we weren't. From the looks of things here, there's a lot of rebuilding that needs to be done.

[ He's a fighter, delivery person, mercenary at best. He knows how to prepare but he's been in situations where that might not be enough. ]

We should contribute the best we can.

[heeeyadora]

[There's a huff, and she rolls her eyes.]

Why should I? I don't owe these people anything? They got themselves into this mess, they can get themselves out of it.

[backoff]

[ Cloud pinches the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb. ]

Do what you want. We have to continue on living here with their mess.

[heeeyadora]

It's better than the Fright Zone, I don't see why they're complaining.

[backoff]

The what zone? [ He crosses his arms against his chest. He's been out doing some exploring than paying attention to others complaints. ]

[heeeyadora]

...The Fright Zone.

[Catra pauses and glances away, shrugging a shoulder.]

It's where I'm from.

[backoff]

[ Cloud gives a nod but he keeps his eyes on her. ]

What exactly is The Fright Zone?

[heeeyadora]

Etheria.

[She gives Cloud a look like that should be obvious, but then frowns.] Where is it you're from?

[backoff]

[ Cloud looks away from her, frowning slightly. His answer might not be as convincing hers. ] the Planet is what we call where I'm from. I grew up in a country town called Nibelheim.

[ His eyes grow sad as he shakes his head giving a small sigh. ]

[heeeyadora]

[Her ears twist along with her head, thinking that answer does indeed sound...made up.]

Not exactly a creative bunch, are they?

[Nibelheim though, that's a little more interesting, and she hums softly.]

What's it like?

[backoff]

[ He gives a shrug the Planet may have an actual name. ]

The town's small, everyone particularly knows each other there. Tons of mountain trails. There's a wooden old water tower with a ladder that you can climb to sit on the edge near the top. You can see the stars clearly. Not much else really.
