Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

Yeah, it's an easy enough dodge for this Jedi, who looks a little surprised by the pile of debris he just dodged, but not alarmed enough to have drawn his lightsaber.

Instead, Anakin simply looks up at the voice, raising a curious brow at the head he spots at the brand new hole in the building's wall "Are we renovating up there?" He calls back up in a voice that lacks any sort of accusation.

"Sure. Yeah. Let's go with that." Because how was he supposed to know that wall wasn't going to hold his weight? He was just leaning!

At least the response is positive- a positive sign he hasn't accidentally dropped part of a building on someone's head. Cayde steps out, inspecting the jagged edges of the new 'window' before he looks out and then drops on down.

"That thing needed some airing out anyway," he says as he dusts himself off.

Anakin puts hand on his hip as he watches the droid join him on ground level and gives him a short nod.

"You're the only one around here or are there more?" More droids, he assumes, of course.

"Oh, thankfully not! It'd be super boring!" the Hunter replies, giving an audible snort in amusement. "Sure, this place don't look like much but there's a few others kickin' around here. Big city for a handful of people."

He regards the Jedi, looking him up and down. "New guy, eh?" Why else would he ask that question?

"Guess I am." Anakin answers with a shrug. Sort of comes with being on an unfamiliar planet, right?

"I'm Anakin Skywalker. So far have been looking around for the most part. Not the most desolate planet I've seen, but it's nice to meet someone that actually responds." He takes a moment to regard the Exo before tilting his head a little to the left "You don't look like a battle droid."

The Exo makes with the finger-guns. Not that it's really that difficult to spot a newbie around here.

"Eh, it takes some effort but I'm sure you can find 'em. Skywalker, eh? I like that. Got a nice dramatic ring to it. Oh, I'm Cayde." He holds out a hand, because droids totally make with handshakes.

At the following observation he pauses, looking down at the gun at one hip and the knife at his other. "Well...I'm not a droid although I guess Exo is an exclusive term."

"Nice to meet you, Cayde." Anakin accepts the hand and shakes it with a confident smile.

"Yeah, terms may vary. But you neither look nor act your a standard battle droid. You'd probably give them a pretty hard time should they dare to attack this place. Though I can't really see that happening." Not with the city already in ruins.

"From what I hear, this planet isn't even part of my galaxy, however. So I'm not counting on a visit. Mind telling me what I should be expecting?"

"Not saying I wouldn't mind the excitement but I think there'd be plenty of others who would beg to differ," he grins, an optic shuttering briefly in a wink. The Exo nods, folding his arms as he gives a brief glance around.

"Pretty sure it's the same story for everyone here. This sure as hell ain't my neck of the woods either. What to expect though? Eh, a whole lot fixing up, some strange kidnappers that I'm not completely unconvinced aren't vampires of some sort, and apparently some killer storms that we're somehow supposed to get rid of."

Anakin grins at that, pleased to learn that the first being he meets is someone he can talk to easily. Seems like a good enough start.

"Building a city, vampires and changing the weather. Just the usual, then." Please don't take him seriously, Cayde.

"From the looks of it we might as well start by tearing everything down first."

For all that he's got a face made of metal that sure is a grin there. "We're gonna get along juuust fine," Cayde says. He appreciates a person that can roll with the punches.

A look is turned back towards the chunk of wall on the ground. "...eh, the place is definitely a fixer-upper. Anyway, that'd just mean more work, much as I like seeing things blow up. You'd have to clean up, and then you'd have to...know how to put together a building..." Bleh, more work! "At least most of the places have held up better than others."

The Jedi simply smiles in return, then takes a few steps backwards while looking up at the building Cayde has just created a new window in, a look of faux scrutiny crossing his face.

"I don't know, Cayde. Trying to patch something up that is determined to fall apart maaay not be the best approach. Usually when you start building up a new settling, you clear out the center and start from there. Working outwards. You will need a solid base, basic shelter, make sure you can cover everyone's needs, gather and pool resources and watch out not to have too many workshops strewn about to lose track of what's happening and what needs to be done." Is it obvious that he has helped rebuild places in the past? Well, he has.

The Exo's quick to turn back towards Anakin though, a grin lighting up his face once again. "An expert! Now that's what we need! Maybe the Agrii finally realized they don't just need heroes here, they need....architects."

He seems to hesitate with that thought, maybe not so convinced himself that that's the correct reasoning, not that he'd been completely serious about it.

"...anyway! I don't think we got too much going on. There's like, what, five people here? Okay, ten." He has no idea. "Someone's handled the hard stuff already so we got water and power. There's a greenhouse. And then there's...everything else." He gestured loosely with a hand around them.

"Only a Jedi Knight, really." Anakin chuckles "But we do help people rebuild their homes every once in a while. You learn a thing or two if you're paying attention, though."

His smirk turns into a more genuine smile as Anakin turns around towards more of the ruins surrounding them "But yeah. You're right. I can sense various beings around this place, but not many. We'd need to really pull everyone together and organize our efforts." Also not necessarily anything new to Anakin "And we'd have to accept that we won't be pulling up skyscrapers any time soon. There are methods to build simpler shelters, however. Even without having any tools at hand."

"Knight? That sounds fancy." Again Cayde gives the Jedi a once over, nodding. "True enough. Wouldn't be the first city I've had to help get on its feet." Not that it had been fun.

"Teamwork, right? I don't think anyone cares for things being fancy so long as places are livable right now." Skyscrapers...maybe later. It was a fun thought anyway.
