Spring Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...
Din Djarin | Star Wars: The Mandalorian
Din wasn't happy with the situation. Waking up in a strange abandoned city, on an abandoned planet. Worst of all, his weapons were gone, not even his pistol had come with him. At least the ones in his armor seemed to have come with him. But really the only thing that's keeping him from getting too angry, is in the cloth carrier on his back. He was thankful to see his foundling had come with him. Having to calm his own anger down, to settle the distressed tiny green child. Waking up in a strange world was no fun for anyone.
So now the pair were walking around the city, checking it out. It didn't take too much time to find a bag that he could use to carry The Child in. It was simple, but it worked. Now they were looking for a place to shelter, and for Din, possibly a blaster or something.
This place reminded Din a lot of Nevarro, and other planets like it. Only it was almost unsettingly quiet. For his part, the child is looking around from his protector's back, large dark eyes taking everything in, and ears tilted down a little. He's calmer than he was. His gaze is more of that of a child that's curious, and in awe, of the world around them.
B: There are spaceships!
Now these? These space ships were more like it. Something that Din was familiar with, once he walked into the hangar. He stood inside for several minutes as he took them in. They weren't the Razor Crest certainly, but they were space ships none the less. He finally moved forward, to see how to get into them, and stops short when one opens up for him. He stepped into the First Breath, and took the interior in. It wasn't exact, but it was enough to remind him of the interior of his own ship.
He explored the ship, stopping for a moment at the bunk room, and tilting his helmeted head in for a moment as he took in any possibly visible belongings. Then he moves on, and he'll eventually find his way to the cockpit. At this point, he'll lift the child out of his carrier, and sets him down on the ground to shuffle about. The child giving a coo of curiosity, his face like that of a child brought into a candy store. So many buttons and switches. Din meanwhile takes the cockpit in, before he lowers himself into the pilot's chair with a sigh.
He might even relax slightly, but as anyone that's had a child knows. Peace never lasts very long. It doesn't take long for the child to get into mischief. Because those bright pretty buttons? Are as resistible as candy to him, and he just starts pushing random ones.
"Stop touching things." Luckily Din was paying attention enough to catch on, and stares at him. This gentle reprimand will make the child stop for a moment, ears lifting a little. But being the mischievous little gremlin he is, the child will flip another one, while staring at Din Which gets an annoyed sigh from his guardian.
Explore the city
Carefully, he walks closer with intentionally loud footsteps. This doesn't look like someone he should surprise.
"Hey," he greets with a small wave of his hand. "Hey there! I'm gonna take it from your wandering out here that you're maybe new? My name is Steve Rogers..."
He extends a hand for a shake.
no subject
Din hears the footsteps, and his hand automatically goes toward where his pistol, only there's an empty holster now. Still he'll turn around enough to look at Steve, tense as he takes a moment to decide if he's friend or foe. He's certainly not someone Din has encountered before.
But Steve seems friendly enough, and Din straightens up more. Not completely relaxed by any means, but he's not going to attack him either.
"I am. I woke up by a fountain not long ago." Not to mention that orb that forced information into his brain. That was something like the empire may have used. He tilts his head, and eyes Steve's hand for a moment, before reaching out to shake it with a firm grip.
"Call me Mando." He nods. "Good to meet you, Steve."
no subject
"What about your friend, there?" He points with his chin at the green alien on his back. "Is that...a pet? Or... A friend of yours?"
He's seen enough to not be too alarmed by something odd. Still, he's not sure about this tiny thing with huge eyes.
no subject
"No, he's my-" He glances over his should at the green child, who's big ears slowly perked up at being spoke about, although he gurgles a sound that could almost be interpreted as the child version of 'really?' at being called a pet. He's not a pet. "Foundling." Din says after a moment cutting off any potential annoyance the child might have. His tone much the same as that of a parent talking about their child, as he looks back to Stever.
It might be odd to some, but to him? Not that odd.
"What about you?"
no subject
He doesn't want to worry Mando with just how long he's been here. It seems to vary for all of them, anyways. Who knew how long he'd be here.
"Does your foundling have a name?"
A
And that was a very young child for the Agrii to have pulled here, but at least it seemed the child was with its... Protector? Father? Difficult to say.
The man himself looked Mandalorian though.
And they were both obviously new to the place.
Altair kept his distance, enough to not alarm at least, "You two are new. Do you need some help?"
no subject
While Din isn't at all attuned to the Force, the child very much is. And and after years, decades perhaps? Likely not since he was taken from his own kind, of not sensing other force sensitive people through the force, is an odd feeling. The child squirms a little in his carrier, and ears perk up as he looks around, making a soft confused coo before he spots Altair.
Soft as it is, it's enough to make Din stop and look over his shoulder at the child, wondering what's going on. That's when he notices the stranger, and he turns to face him fully.
"You could say that." He tilts his head as he takes the man in. Hmm, interesting. "I'm looking for shelter, and supplies." And maybe a little more information.
no subject
"When it comes to shelter, you have your pick," The Sith said, gesturing around, "Most buildings are abandoned. There is also a hotel where people used to gather that is somewhat more... Fortified, I suppose would be the word."
Less run down, was more like it.
"As for supplies, there is a greenhouse where food can be found. And a friend of mine runs a kitchen to help out with meals as well- anything else, I'm afraid, will have to be foraged for."
There wasn't a lot to help keep them comfortable, really. Only what they made themselves. Beyond that, it was plain trying to survive. It was why Altair disliked the idea of the Agrii pulling in children- especially children as young as the one on the man's back.
"... You're a Mandalorian, aren't you?"
Altair figured he might as well get that question out of the way, having taken a look at the man from beneath his veil before he'd turned. And he certainly looked the part- but for all Altair knew, other worlds could have warriors similar to the Mandalorians.
A-a...!
By now he'd had time enough to settle, at least as much as one could. The padawan wasn't sure if he was just preoccupied in dealing with the new environment and the task set before him that the sting of his bungled business on Dathomir hadn't properly had time to sink in. It wasn't a memory easily forgotten either, that door still open and refusing to be shut.
...just as a lot of the doors to some of these rundown buildings were. Cal had taken to attempt meditation in one such building, empty and sprouting moss in some places from a leaking dampness that seeped from the ground in one corner. The doorway was broken, a sliding sort that was jammed at a bad angle but still wide enough to be crawled through if you could squeeze between a slightly less than two-foot gap that narrowed as it went higher. While Cal sat on his knees in the middle of the room, eyes closed, his trusty exploration droid took it upon himself to stand guard, peering outside of the door.
BD-1 perked at the sound, someone's approach. He took a few cautious steps further out into the street, hooting curiously. Seeing the armored figure, he started to dart back towards the doorway.
I will warn I'm canon blind to Fallen Order, so I apologize ahead of time
Din had been checking out the buildings, even for temporary shelter, or supplies. The hooting certainly catches his attention, and his gaze darts to the small droid. Droids, why is it always droids? Under his helmet.
"Hey!" He narrows his eyes as it darts back toward the stuck door. A little suspicious, and he moves to follow the small droid, to where it's going. It's owner must not be too far.
No worries! I shall strive to keep spoiler free, in that case!
"...what did you do, BeeDee?" He doesn't necessarily think that the little droid had committed anything wrong, but all the same he gets to his feet. Moving cautiously towards the broken doorway, he stops short when a shadow fills the entrance.
He hadn't expected to see a Mandalorian. At least, he's pretty sure that's the style of armor. It's been a while.
"Um, hey..?" he greets. BD-1 peers around him.
A
"What do you mean there's a-?" he breaks off when he catches sight of the man, brows rising in surprise at the armor. A Mandalorian??? Poe's heard stories, but he's never seen one in person.
no subject
"A what?" He's tense as he takes the man in. Another new face he doesn't recognize. Yes, almost as rare as Jedi, are the Mandalorians. Potentially even rarer in Poe's time. It's interesting how the enemies over the centuries, share a similar fate.
no subject
"...A Mandalorian," Poe confirms, an awed sort of smile tugging at the corners of his lips, despite feeling a very real warning that he should be wary. Poe seems to attract the rare, given all the force users he's surrounded with in a time when the Jedi are meant to be extinct. "Sorry, I've- ...I've never actually seen-...you're new?"
Sorry BB-8, I love you but my character doesn't
Poe can't see it, but Din lifts an eyebrow under his helmet, his posture relaxing a little, as Poe doesn't seem to be a threat. Yet.
"Yes, I am a Mandalorian." Din confirms in return, tilting his head. " I arrived not long ago. They need to work on their welcome." Really, getting data shoved into your brain? Not a great first impression.
<3 that's fair, he's not going to stop trying to win him over
Poe's eyes skirt to the carrier, and then back to the masked face, offering a sympathetic smile. "The data point? Mm. Not pleasant," he agrees, "You're going to have to go through that at least once more if you want to specialize in anything."
But he's getting ahead of himself. "Poe. Poe Dameron," he introduces finally, "And this is BB-8," he adds, gesturing to the astromech.
<3 I wish him luck, the last one to get him to like him, died to save him xD
Unlike his guardian, the child doesn't have the strong dislike for droids. The excited chirping gets a giggle from the child. Which turns Din's attention to the droid again. What were you doing back there? He frowns under the helmet for a moment, before he turns back to Poe, and nods at the introduction.
"My name in Mando, and this is my foundling." He nods over his shoulder at the child. Who doesn't have a name yet. Din you need to name your child.
