Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found  here.

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

If she ends up deeming him paranoid, Gemini might consider herself in good company, at least. Monster or not, at the end of the day Jon remains being a man constantly worried or outright afraid about one thing or another.

Though he will at least make a valid effort to keep himself together and put on a neutral appearance.

Hearing about those files, though, appears to flip a switch and lingering caution is pushed aside by an eager interest. A flame-scarred hand points up at the ceiling "Above? Actual files?" Oh, he should be watching out with his questions. But the lure of potential knowledge leaves him a little careless.

"I mean-- Yes. Please! I would very much like to see those!"

Ah good, that broke the ice nicely exactly as she'd intended.

"Great I'll lead the way." Gemini smiles brightly and heads over to the doorway, her eyes lingering for a split second on the burnt hand, wondering exactly what could have caused that injury.

"So you do a lot of work with files?" Curiously so far nearly all the questions have gone one way, Gemini's warm smile and open manner aimed at getting him to trust her. She doesn't have any negative intent, but after decades as a private investigator getting people to accept and confide in her is second nature.

Jon shrugs as he begins to follow "Well, I work as an archivist. I assume you can say files and paperwork in all forms and shapes are a given in my field." And then there's also the research part of dealing with the statements, but... Well.

"Though I find myself more interested in the culture of the... Beings. The Agrii. The ones that used to live here." Jon casts a glance over at her, still undecided on just where to place her "Though seeing that you had no interest in those files yourself, I assume you were hoping for something else."

"Given that we're trapped here I guess that's a good place to start." Gemini nods thoughtfully, leading the way down a corridor littered with fragments of ceiling plaster and discarded furniture.

"I'm exploring to learn the city's layout, old medical files aren't really my thing. Careful, there's glass there." Pointing to a spot on the floor she sidesteps it and continues, "but if paperwork's your thing maybe you'll spot something I missed."

"They want us to rebuild this place." Jon says as he nudges some of the glass aside with his shoe, clearing a bit of a path before moving on himaelf "I'm not much of a builder. Or planner. Or engineer... Christ, I hardly know my way around Facebook and I'm a millennial." That last word is spoken with a certain degree of dread, but Jon is quick to shake his head.

"But I can't sit around and do nothing. So I'm... I'm researching them. Try to learn what they need in a city. What they might expect." So at least he won't feel entirely useless while stuck here.

"I don't really have any building experience either, between the two of us we're not going to be much help." She laughs sympathetically, waiting for Jon to clear his path before moving again.

"Sounds like a good idea, it's something to keep yourself busy with at any rate. I haven't really worked out what I'm going to do yet." She's got a few options, but as yet no clue which ones might be the most needed.
