Spring Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

"Yeah he and another guy were the exception rather than the rule, but they're the closest things to you I'd seen before." She's watching his mannerisms out of long-held habit, noting with interest the scratching of his head even though surely it can't be itchy. Cayde's telling her lots of little things about himself with every moment and Gemini's more than a little intrigued.
"I imagine 'squishy bits' would be a disadvantage in your line of work." She knows this from experience.

"Oh yeah, it'd be a lot more painful I'm sure. Not to say it ain't painful taking a shot or falling off a cliff or gettin' yourself killed. That's never fun- but then that's pretty standard for everyone." Beat. "Unless you're into that sorta thing."
Cayde glances around as though looking for something, optics shuttering in a squint as he lets out something of a sniff and a snort. Not that he breathes, but the gesture is more out of habit and expression than anything else.
"Anyway." He looks mildly annoyed at something but pushes it away, offering what appears to be a smile. "What a lousy place we're stuck in, eh?"
sorry for the wait, I've had food poisoning
"Getting killed isn't my style." She doesn't elaborate any further, instead Gemini slides off her perch and walks over to one of the ships, running her hand idly over the hull.
"It sucks, but I guess we'll have to make the best of it. How many of these have you tried?"
gah! no apologies needed! hope you're feeling better!
Turning, Cayde watches as the woman starts looking over another ship. He looks at the others around, gesturing at them loosely. "All of 'em up to this point," he says, flashing another lopsided grin. "Now either it'll end up bein' the last one that we can manage to crack, or none at all." Now that'd be some rotten luck, but they can't all be locked, can they?
thanks, on the mend I think
" Let's see." Slowly and deliberately she begins looking at all the ships within view. Her eyes are much better than the average human, and that piercing vision picks out something on one of the ships.
"Did you try that one over there?" She nods to a battered old freighter off to one side. It's nothing special but there's a grille next to a sealed hatch and that could be enough to get her access.
Yay!
For what, he has no idea, but at this point he feels like being able to get into a ship at all counts as a fair win all around. From there...well, who knows? With a sweep of his hand he gestures for her to go first as he heads along after.

Reaching the ship, she runs her hands over the grille, the gaps in it are tiny, far too small for any hand to fit through, but that's not a problem for Gemini. Her fingers and then her whole hand starts to slide though the grille and after a moment her hand touches against what feels like a lever.
"I think I've found something." Pulling it, a series of deep rumbles sound from within the ship and then the hatch begins to grind slowly open.

An optimist? Most of the time. Cayde looks on as Gemini gets a literal feel for the ship, tilting his head. Before he can offer her the knife he doesn't have, he sees what should be impossible.
"...huh."
Or maybe it's a trick of the light. Either way, it does the trick, and his optics brighten as she triggers the hatch to open. "Woohoo! Nice job."
