SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME

SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Pre-August 10th Prompts
Please Note: the following prompts here were written for the game setting prior to revelation of our August Event which has temporarily changed our setting. You should feel free to continue to use these prompts but note that any new characters arriving after that date will arrive in different circumstances.

Summer in Temba and Sh'Ka
Hot. Dry. Sunny. In a way the weather of Agra-10 seems overly intense this summer, and it's going to be a whole experience working through that. And every day almost seems like it's getting hotter and more brutal. But at least there are ways to deal with the heat. For one thing He Rows are welcome to head south out of Temba to hit up the beach. The purple sands are even relatively free of the Fat Green Lobsters, who are likely sheltering somewhere from the heat. But the waters are cool and welcoming so maybe this is a good place to pass the time. If you can deal with the fact that any food you bring might be stolen away by a Birbs. The colorful pests seem to be perfectly colored for the season and very ready to steal your stuff.

In Sh'Ka there's plenty of places to beat the heat. The stone buildings actually manage to keep the heat out pretty good, and there's also a lot of shade under the large stone trees. But maybe it isn't wise to hang out under the trees, as the local Deleon population is in herding part of the year. It is rare for them to gather as a herd, but when they do it's to protect their young. This makes them way more riled up and likely to attack anything they deem as a threat.

Or perhaps when it comes to beating the heat the best thing to do is seek shelter with others. The Diner in off of the square in Temba is usually open, with food laid out buffet style if you aren't lucky enough to catch one of the local He Rows who run it. There's also the Deep End, a bar in the towers in southeastern Temba where the alcohol is mostly free to access. Just remember not to bother the Colonel and you'll be fine. Maybe you can even pretend you're under water thanks to the wall of the space that is glass and looks into the water that fills the core of the tower complex, complete with local aquatic life.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships! empty hangar?
That's weird. Between the communicator crew registries, the datapoints, and perhaps conversations with other He Rows you would think there would be spaceships sitting in the hangar. Strange to find that instead of them there is a space in a wide open hangar. There's plenty of signs of tools, spare parts, and other equipment storage. Perhaps you'll seek to investigate why the ship you're apparently assigned to is completely missing? Or maybe this is the perfect time to take this huge, clear open space and find a way to make use of it. Who knows when they'll be back.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

August 10th and Later Prompts
Please Note: the following prompts here were written for the game setting during our August Event which has temporarily changed our setting. Use of these prompts is encouraged if you want to go in with canon-TDM but don't want to backdate a character's arrival.

Try the network! (Good on August 10th only)
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

Volcanic Panic
Something changes in August. The air is dark with soot and ash, the ground quakes below you on the regular, and there is a frantic energy in the air. The new little device in your pocket keeps warning you that something bad is coming and you must find shelter. But what is shelter? Can you find it in these buildings, in this panic? Maybe a local can help you figure out what is going on. But be quick. Who knows how much time you have.

In The Warrens
Hopefully you're not claustrophobic, because there's no time for summer fun when you're far underground in metal corridors and rooms. The area is a mass of tangled paths around a large central opening, almost like a town square. Sharing the space with you and your fellow He Rows are a wealth of little creatures, mushrooms and berries that walk and build and communicate (with dance for the former and percussive noises for the latter). Water comes from small spouts around the areas carefully manned by the mushrooms, and food seems delivered on a regular cycle to a platform in the square by the fruit people.

There are plenty of corridors and dead end rooms to explore, and even more people to meet. But the question is how you're going to pass your time while sheltering from the dangers of the volcano above. Do you know any games? Are you setting up a talent show? Or maybe you're just looking for as much information as you can find. It's all up to you.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

It wouldn't be useless to any number of others in this place, now would it? Just because you don't have a use for something, doesn't make it useless.

Touche.

Just useless to me. But that would make sure everyone is healthy for later.

Potentially, yes.

[ She says firmly. ]

You should try to be more aware of the other people around you.
shatteredcopy: (Did you think this through?)

Why? They aren't members of the Chaos Council. I was not programmed to care about others.

I don't believe your Chaos Council is here. It would do you well to learn to get along with others.

[ Honestly, she's not so sure she wants something called the chaos council roaming about. She's had enough chaos in her life. ]

I only asked questions. I wanted to know what you found so appealing for books and plants.

Was that rude?

No, that part wasn't rude. Implying they're a waste of my time however, that I found to be very rude.

Ooooooooh. I see now.

My bad! I'm sorry. They are not a waste of your time.
