WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME

WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Winter in Temba and Sh'Ka
Lots of snow.
MORE snow.
Indeed. It's snowing. A lot. From one day to the next both Temba and Sh'Ka are covered in snow and especially in Temba these masses of snow may even collapse some of the more damaged buildings, so be careful where you seek shelter.
But the Agrii are trying to help and we all know nothing ever gets weird or wrong when the Agrii decide to help their He-Rows. Two small, vividly colored snowblower drones are doing their best to clear paths along the most used streets of Temba. It looks like one of the Agrii has used their years of observing frustrated He-Rows shovel and magically melt snow wisely. Unfortunately these little drones, despite being equipped with large googly eyes, don't really see what they are doing and while clearing out one street may end up blocking five others as well as the doors to buildings.
And if it isn't the snow itself or the little snow drones blocking you in, there are still the prevailing dangers left by the earthquake that are now well hidden under snow. Huge cracks in the ground are now perfectly camouflaged, so be mindful where you step. You may end up in an icy underground cavern without ever having meant to end up there.
In other areas the cold has a value for a time. The much diminished flood plain soon freezes over enough for skating, until it too ends up in a layer of snow. But that's more easily brushed aside so maybe you can do something with that? Or perhaps it's just better to stay inside, where there is heat and perhaps other people avoiding the heavy blanket that covers Temba.
Sh'Ka is also covered in snow as mentioned before, but it lacks the little snow-blowing helpers sent by the Agrii. So here the paths between places will have to be those you forge yourselves. At least Sh'Ka doesn't have the same issue with ice caverns just under the surface, or with buildings collapsing until the weight of winter's most predictable weather system.
Explore
Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.
Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.
And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
RETURN OF THE SHIPS!!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

He got as far as making constructs? Seriously!? And without them? Raph had to throw himself off a tree to awaken it before! So what, Donnie just walks into a cave and does what it took them hours to figure out?]
Uhhh, so... please don't freak out on me again. [He looks at Donnie with a smile that he hopes is reassuring.] Buuut I already knew you could do that.
no subject
Donnie looks a little concerned at that warning, expression souring. He's not at all sure what to make of that smile but color him highly suspicious.]
Wait, what..? You...knew?
...
Is this another future thing and do I want to know.
no subject
[Leo might as well be honest about it. It's a little too obvious, anyway.]
Turns out there's a lot Dad didn't tell us. And turns out we never really needed those mystic weapons to actually use our powers.
[He makes an irritated motion with his hands.] Which I could show you if they hadn't taken my katana!
[Sure, he can try to make new ones the way he did at Todd's place, but who knows if that would even work? Man.]
no subject
[Annoying, that. Donnie's not quite sure how to feel about the confirmation that they apparently have inherent mystic powers. But Tony had been right, that power had come from him, not the cave.]
So...why do we have powers? And does that mean you can still make portals, and Raph can make some extended version of himself and Mikey can throw things and light them on fire even without special weapons?
[Leo hadn't said ōdachi after all. But why would he even part with it?] Where'd you get katana anyway? The last ones you had were broken the first time you tried using them in actual combat.
no subject
It's a Hamato thing. Called ninpo.
[Leo doesn't have his swords, but he can still call on the power itself - for just a few seconds, his stripes all light up, truly becoming Neon Leon. He doesn't keep at it for very long, though, because he's cold and tired and it's draining his energy.]
I can still make portals, and a few other things. It's really hard to do without my swords to direct it, though. [Maybe one day he can learn how to do it without them, but he's nowhere near that level right now.] And yeah, Raph and Mikey can do all their stuff, too.
[Also don't remind him he broke his first katana! That was so embarrassing...]
Our other weapons got broken, so we made new ones. Todd helped.
no subject
[Frustrating, but for the moment forgotten as Leo lights up like a Times Square billboard. It's familiar, and for a brief moment, Donnie can almost swear he feels something himself.]
So... your weapon's a focal point for it? Was that what the mystic weapons essentially were? I'm not sure I'm understanding the Hamato part of it.
[Of course he's going to ask questions, it's what he does. Although Donnie does look mildly horrified at that revelation.]
All our weapons...?
no subject
[Wow, who does that remind them of? Definitely not Leo, that's for sure!
Leo shrugs at his next question.] I know you're gonna hate this answer, but I don't really get it, either. It's pretty much all instinct for me. [He waves his hands around.] I think about where I wanna go, and just kind of... push that through my swords. And then bam!
[Was that helpful?
His next question and accompanying horror isn't really a surprise either. Leo glances at Donnie's tech-bo, then back at his brother's face.]
...You're sure you wanna know the answer to that one?
no subject
[Ditching great-grandpa when he could've learned some important clan-specific stuff? Maybe there's more to it but it's not really saying much in favor of dad from what Donnie's hearing. But since it seems to be conncted too much into...future occurrences, Donnie's not pushing too hard for further explanation.
He's not sure what to think about Leo's explanation of how magic anything worked for him, it's hard for Donnie to really put into words what he knows he can do himself, now. But then maybe that's why Leo's explanation also kind of makes sense, if he just doesn't try to think on it too hard. Yech, what a terrible thought.]
.....
[Leo's question is an answer all in itself, and even if there's a chance Donnie supposes he might be reading into it too much, he still pulls his tech-bō to hug it close.]
-no, never mind.
no subject
[Though Leo wasn't there for the end of the memories (because Splinter's shadow kept punching him specifically in the face, which, hurtful, by the way!), but from what Raph said later, it sounds like the whole thing wasn't as simple as "Splinter was lazy and didn't want to listen to his grandfather." But if he gets too deep into it they'll start hitting the parts that he thinks will freak Donnie out.
He watches Donnie hug his tech-bo close, and he can't help but make an amused noise. The bo wasn't even the extent of the tech Donnie lost that day, but Leo knows better than to bring up the fate of Shelldon or the rest of his lab.]
It got pretty crazy for a few days there, but... we came out of it okay. So don't worry too much.
no subject
[The laugh's much too forced, the smile more so that it looks like he might crack again if he tries to hold it too long. You can't tell Donnie not to worry too much, that just sets his overthink off. He doesn't want to know but he can't help but think about what might've happened to try filling in a timeline that's for the most part blank to him.
He needs to remove his train of thought from this track right now.]
Should I get more hot water?
no subject
So he lets the subject change happen without fuss. Takes a critical look at his toes, giving them a wiggle for good measure.]
…Maybe? Heh, maybe I should go for that medical data point first.
[This is a joke. Can you imagine Leo as a doctor? Yikes.]
no subject
[Donnie smiles crookedly at that, but it's not an outright attempt to shoot down the idea if Leo's serious. They only have a handful of medical-oriented people if he recalls correctly. Although whether Leo was serious about it is another thing.
With a nod, he slowly sets his weapon back down by Leo, getting up. Hot water, he can do at least. At least basic things like this don't need specific medical knowledge provided from a glowing ball.]
no subject
[He didn’t mean that seriously, but now it feels a little like a challenge.
While he waits on Donnie, he settles his head back to just rest a minute. Talking kept his mind off it, but his feet do feel uncomfortable, all pins and needles as the blood circulation comes back.
At least they should be fine after this, but… he should probably invest in some shoes.]
no subject
[Donnie sounds a bit dismissive but then it's mostly because his attention's on his current task, not that he wouldn't have tried goading Leo into it either way, and that response is an easy opening.
He's found a kettle to heat up some water in, which will make it easier to add into the pot so they don't outright risk making actual turtle soup.]
