WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME

WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Winter in Temba and Sh'Ka
What says winter more than snow?

Lots of snow.

MORE snow.

Indeed. It's snowing. A lot. From one day to the next both Temba and Sh'Ka are covered in snow and especially in Temba these masses of snow may even collapse some of the more damaged buildings, so be careful where you seek shelter.

But the Agrii are trying to help and we all know nothing ever gets weird or wrong when the Agrii decide to help their He-Rows. Two small, vividly colored snowblower drones are doing their best to clear paths along the most used streets of Temba. It looks like one of the Agrii has used their years of observing frustrated He-Rows shovel and magically melt snow wisely. Unfortunately these little drones, despite being equipped with large googly eyes, don't really see what they are doing and while clearing out one street may end up blocking five others as well as the doors to buildings.

And if it isn't the snow itself or the little snow drones blocking you in, there are still the prevailing dangers left by the earthquake that are now well hidden under snow. Huge cracks in the ground are now perfectly camouflaged, so be mindful where you step. You may end up in an icy underground cavern without ever having meant to end up there.

In other areas the cold has a value for a time. The much diminished flood plain soon freezes over enough for skating, until it too ends up in a layer of snow. But that's more easily brushed aside so maybe you can do something with that? Or perhaps it's just better to stay inside, where there is heat and perhaps other people avoiding the heavy blanket that covers Temba.

Sh'Ka is also covered in snow as mentioned before, but it lacks the little snow-blowing helpers sent by the Agrii. So here the paths between places will have to be those you forge yourselves. At least Sh'Ka doesn't have the same issue with ice caverns just under the surface, or with buildings collapsing until the weight of winter's most predictable weather system.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Despite having been protected from being destroyed by the volcano itself and unlike Sh'Ka not having been buried in vast amopunts of ash, Temba still suffered notable damage from the earthquakes that came with the volcano's eruption. Previously restored buildings were damaged and others entirely caved in on themselves leaving them beyond any hope for restoration. The streets and paths are even worse to traverse than they used to be but for what it's worth water and electricity are still working. Most of the time.

Needless to say, exploring is more risky these days as buildings may still cave in without warning and seemingly solid roads may crack open to drop anunsuspecting wanderer into underground caves left behind by the quakes.

And yet the city can still be explored. If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

RETURN OF THE SHIPS!!
Yes, they are back. Though you may not be aware of it, the ships stored in the hangar have been gone for quite some time, but they have been returned very recently. In a way, at least. What used to be a group of nine smaller ships has become a very shipable pair of brand new, notably larger space vessels and you just may feel compelled to enter one of these two ships to take a look around. The glitter dispensers await you!

Try the network!
The network is back up! Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Yes, playing coy indeed. They both knew, did they not, that all Alexander had to do was offer that warm smile of his and the warlock was putty in his hands. Still, he looks distressed at this news from the Shadowhunter.

"You don't remember? We were going through together. Bad enough that the thing went so wildly wrong as to trap me here where I can't seem to anchor a new one and some strange glowing orb tries to put compulsion magic on me, but if it has affected your memories then, well, I don't exactly have my usual supplies available to treat this case of amnesia."

And it wasn't even one he had caused.

They also both knew how Alec tends to put a crisis before anything else. And while he isn't in full crisis mode, he's certainly Concerned-with-the-capital-C about their being here.

"I don't remember a portal at all," he replies quietly, pausing the cleaning for a moment to look up at Magnus. "I was at the Institute before I was here."

"Which is of course where you spend half of your time, so it's no shock that your memories are of there."

This, though, is a whole other thing.

"I promise you, Alexander, once I figure out the flow of higher magics here, I will get us home."

"Ha ha." No really, Alec had been sleeping, alone, in his own room. He clearly remembers shedding his clothes for pajamas and getting into bed. But he'd woken flat on his back by a fountain, dressed in his street clothes again. But if Magnus is saying that they went through a portal together, what had happened to those in between memories?

"Do you have any gaps in your memory?" Would Magnus even know if he did? "Anything that seems weird?"

"When you get to be my age, my dear, you get used to some gaps here and there."

Though nothing like what Alexander is suggesting. Not without some serious outside interference in his experience. So he's very frustrated here.

"Finish cleaning so I may check you over?"
stoicandsarcastic: (I wanna be your friend)

"Are you really playing the age card? You know you don't look it."

But Magnus is right; such memory gaps would probably have to come from an outside source, and Alec doesn't like the thought of that. Not for the first time he silently wishes he had his bow, or even a seraph blade. Something to help keep them safe.

He takes a few final swipes at the glitter but at this point the rag is so full of it that all he manages is to move it around a bit. He signs and straightens up, holding his arms out and turning in a circle. "All in one piece." Runes glamoured into invisibility though, to blend in.

Of course he knows he doesn't look it, but he does preen to have it said. He knows he's attractive but it's good to be seen as it by his love.

"And horribly, done," he says with his own sigh. So much glitter. "Might I finish this?"
stoicandsarcastic: (It's a suicide rap)

Alec hid his smile at the way Magnus got that happy little almost-wiggle in his demeanor. Compliments didn't cost anything at all, and it was so easy to compliment the warlock. Alec still felt a little thrill every time he was around Magnus.

"You might have to. It's more persistent than I thought."

"Alien glitter, seems likely."

A snap of his fingers, a few gestures, and then the glitter is all levitating then swirling together into one point in the middle of the room. Soon a multi-colored orb forms and Magnus steps forward to catch it.

"There. All better."
