[Event] New Tick ... IN SPAAAAAACE!

On the morning of the 8th He Rows will awaken to a new message on their devices. While as awkward with language as always, the message has weight if only because it implies fulfillment of a long ago given promise.
Us greet they with good news He Rows. Gave word they come see us, talk with faces. Time comes. To more row dark, all He Rows board ships. Bring things for long visit. We go from Agra-10. Meet other place. Have New Tick then go place for seek more knowing.
It is, perhaps, the most warning that He Rows have ever been given that they will be heading off planet for an extended period of time. And, true to the words of – presumably – Ga Re, the alluring, tinkling music calls out on the evening of the ninth. No He Row will be able to resist the pull to return to the nearest shuttle and board their ship, if they aren’t already onboard and prepared that is.

Pilots and Engineers will find the call does something more than call them to their ship. For them the pull is to head all the way to their cockpits, where their stations will guide them through their first pre-flight checks. Once everyone is aboard the music fades, another chime rings throughout the intercoms to announce liftoff, and the ships do precisely that. Anyone in the cockpit area or hangars will be able to look out through windows to see as the ships lift together from the hangar, then rise above Temba, Agra-10, and all the way out into space where they can get what is likely their first glimpse of the Agrii ship.

Immediately a portal shimmers into life before the Agrii vessel and Pilots will feel the need to follow the Agrii vessel through it into a new stretch of space before it closes. From there it’s a multiple hour journey at speed to follow the Agrii vessel until you at last near a planet.

Upon arriving the intercoms on the ships crackle to life again, this time with Ga Re’s familiar voice.
We arrive! Bring things to shuttles. We all go planet now. Go to village. Make sure bring things for warm. Come and meet! See you soon!
There’s a two hour period where He Rows might either choose to board the shuttles of their own accord or otherwise prepare. They can even try and ignore the summons if they wish. Those in the cockpit or hangar will be able to see shuttles, no, their old ships flying out of the shuttle bay of the Agrii vessel and heading down toward the planet. Yes, it seems like it is truly time to meet!

After the two hours the music starts again. Looks like you won’t be able to get out of this trip. On the shuttles He Rows will be ferried down to the surface where they land on a snow covered field amid other shuttles and the old ships when they aren’t actively offloading their own passengers. Agrii in thick sweaters and coats wave multiple arms at He Rows as they disembark, their other hands filled with wrapped gifts or holding little children to their sides. Some even have their pets at their sides. One and all, they are headed for a nearby village.

The settlement everyone is trekking toward is brightly-colored and warmly lit, and as you grow close it looks both incredibly durable, but also quite a bit like what some people might recognize as gingerbread. Even the outsides are painted as if there were giant mint shingles, gumdrop decorations, and liberal piping of hardened frosting to keep it all together. Mostly they look warm and comfortable.

While many cabins already have signs on them with little drawings of Agrii faces on the doors, there are plenty for He Rows to choose from to use. The insides of the cabins are very well-appointed with cozy furnishing, festive decorations in line with New Tick (splashes of pink and purple everywhere and many silver stars), warm fireplaces, and even places to prepare food complete with protein dispensers.

There is some good news though if you didn’t bring warm clothing, as the dresser drawers in the cabin you choose to occupy will have clothing familiar to you from your home universe. Why are there clothes for a child in here as well, though? That’s a mystery…

The cabins also have a liberal collection of candy. Most of it is perfectly ordinary, seasonally-appropriate candy. Then there is the gelt. Hopefully one of those people who find this place eerily familiar knows to warn you about the gold-foil wrapped chocolate coins. You see, eating one of the four varieties of gelt means you will find yourself turned into a child for eight nights. Was this intentionally left out by the Agrii, or have these things just been sitting around the village?

Somewhere between the outer ring of cabins taken by the Agrii and the inner ring reserved for the He Rows is a huge red barn. On one wall is a very old and worn painting that may once have been a gathering of He Rows? Really at this point it’s hard to tell with all the wear on it. That and the fact that there is now an absolutely massive tree set by that wall. Wait, is that the same tree some He Rows recently put up in the middle of Temba?

Somehow the Temba Fountain Tree has been brought here with you! Its purple pine-adjacent form is absolutely covered with decorations. There are lights ranging from little lights to water drops filled with glowing pollen to candles that are probably a fire hazard. Ornaments seem to be made of scraps of fabric, bent utensils, and stars made of everything from glitter covered paper to dimpled copper and even into strings of glass. Many Agrii are gathered around the tree at all reasonable hours, clearly in awe with how they talk and how they touch the ornaments. As for their children…

The smallest of the Agrii seem more interested in the pair of round, four armed pink and purple robots that are powered down in front of the closed doors of the barn. These are the Automated Gift Remitting and Imparting Intelligences (or A.G.R.I.I.s), and for the first evening any Agrii approaching them will hand over the gifts they have brought which are then put into the barn.

It won’t be until the evening of the tenth that they open the doors and reveal the sorted and arranged stacks of gifts for He Rows and Agrii alike. It’s time for your New Tick presents, and anyone who does not pick theirs up within the first twelve hours may find themselves tracked down by an A.G.R.I.I. with a present in both sets of arms. They will spend the morning barging into cabins with your gifts. Unless your door is blocked. Then expect them to be hurled right through a window.

On the opposite side of the village from the old barn a newer one of pseudo-gingerbread has been set up, and it is filled with tables, chairs, and all forms of benches: a cafeteria. A lot of it is clearly Agrii cooking, so expect things like sandwiches (burgers or chicken-like meat or sandwich spreads) that look like all sorts of things and taste like peanut butter. Or soups that look like hearty stews and taste like peanut butter. There are protein-paste or vegetable shaped meats that look like roasted turkeys to be had. There are even more protein-paste dispensers here too. In addition there are replicators that will allow He Rows to replicate one full meal per day. Other than that maybe He Rows who know a thing or two about cooking brought things from their ships to help provide some flavor variety.

Beyond the village and on a rise is a castle that seems to be made of ice by a builder who was about ready to let go of traditional design rules. Those who approach the ice castle find it to be quite the fortress and inside the chill space they can’t just talk. No, here whatever you mean to say comes out in song, whether you’re good at singing or not. You might want to be careful, sometimes singing out your words means sharing your feelings, or perhaps just your secrets.

All in all the village is a beautiful place to spend some time and for the celebration that no doubt just about everyone knew was coming. After all, the Agrii have been trying hard to share their own culture with He Rows over the years. So on the 10th it all starts. Agrii bring out boxes of light sparks (or sparklers as He Rows might better know them) to play with, as well as metal tins of burn cream for those who aren’t careful with their little pyrotechnics. Around meals the Agrii gather to tell stories about the last year and encourage others to as well. There is even a lot of playing in the snow, so maybe build a fort or join in a snowball war.

When the night starts to run down the Agrii gather around the tree, playing with light sparks and waiting. Waiting until at last fireworks come to life over the ice castle. They are better this year than they were last year, a full five minutes of bursts of silver and pink and gold and purple. When they tapper off the ice castle itself begins to glow from inside with lights in those same shades. A crystal of ice shaped like a star seems to grow from the top, growing and swelling and shining before it explodes, and in a burst of… Glitter. Predictable. Check that one off the list. Anyone approaching the ice castle after that is going to have to deal with glitter covered snow.

After this moment passes the Agrii all applaud, sing a song, and share plenty of hugs before filtering back to their cabins for the night. Perhaps it’s time to go home then? Those who head for the shuttles to try will find that no, they will not carry you back to the ships at this time. In fact, the displays say there is a week long lock out at this time. You’re here on Noth until the seventeenth He Rows.

On the morning of the seventeenth begins a slow exodus of the Agrii and their families toward the old ships, which only they seem able to board. Don’t worry, they will assure you that while you cannot come up on the old ships, you can still come visit. So grab your gear, pack up, and head for the shuttles back up to The Glitter Food and The Peanut Party. Once there He Rows find the options on the shuttles have changed. Now they have a button reading ‘Agrii’. Choosing this redirects the shuttle into the shuttle bay of the massive Agrii ship. He Rows don’t have to visit the Agrii, but the Pilots will quickly be able to determine that the orbits on the ships have been locked in through the rest of the month, so maybe you should go talk to your hosts.

For those who arrive on the ship, no matter the hour of the day, they will find a helpful Agrii waiting for them, who will offer them a hug and then ask for their Communication device. Those who agree to hand it over will find a map of the expansive ship uploaded onto their device, as well as a form of digital ‘key’ that will open many (though not all) doors around the ship. Private Agrii quarters will be off limits, but little else will hold back He Rows either because they ask to enter or they are able to hack the simple computerized locks (either because of Engineering, Security, or inherent skill). As for those He Rows who have been on the ship before, well, be careful. Any specific Agrii admirers you developed on your last journey might be out to find you to ask for a hug or a new autograph or just to compliment you on your life choices.

Did we mention the Agrii are huge fans? Anyone visiting the ship who hasn’t somehow managed to create a negative impression with the Agrii has probably picked up some fans. Who will want to talk to you. By which we mean touch your hair or clothes as it seems most Agrii do not know how to speak a language He Rows can understand. The good news is that there are some Agrii who seem to shoo these sorts away if they see you looking bothered. These ones seem to have messily written name tags. Some of them might even be familiar faces, like Ga Re, An Nu, Te Mi, and countless more. You were here to talk to them, right? Maybe they want to talk to you too.

Don’t feel the need to rush while visiting either. The shuttles between the He Row ships and the Agrii will be running frequently, and if you’re tired they are happy to offer you a spare room to stay in as well. There will always be more time to talk, to plan, to question, and yes, to explore. You are here at your request and will. Take this chance to get to know your hosts, get to the bottom of any issues you have, and learn whatever you can. Who knows when you’ll next get the chance. Hell, maybe you can even do something silly like seduce an Agrii, foster more factionism, or accidentally kidnap an Agrii’s beloved pet.

FAQ

What are the dates for this event?
The Agrii notification will happen on January 8th, He Rows will board their ships after sunset on January 9th and arrive at the village of Noth a few hours later. New Tick starts on January 10th and concludes just before midnight on the same (Agra-10 time). He Rows will be stuck on this planet until January 17th at which time they can either choose to linger on Noth, hang out on The Glitter Food and The Peanut Party, or visit the Agrii ship. This event will continue through the rest of January and roll directly into February’s event.

Can we opt out of this event?
Through hiatus only. All He Rows currently on Agra-10 will board the ships and travel to Noth. He Rows are not obligated to go visit the Agrii ship though. Those He Rows that are not present for gift dispersal will find their gifts have been relocated to their room on their assigned ship upon return of ship access.

Have we been here before?
Any He Rows who were present in January 2020 may recognize Noth from the event US MAKE FOR THEY (or How the Agrii Did the Opposite of Steal Christmas). Turns out they have been trying to show you New Tick for a long time.

I meant on the Agrii vessel. Which you also didn’t describe very well!
Any He Rows who were present in August and September 2020 and joined in on the Agrii Rescue Mission will have been on the Agrii ship before and may have explored it to some degree. As for a description, well, we don’t want to overwhelm you with too much text in this post and want this information accessible in the future. You will find that there is now a new page dedicated to describing the Agrii ship and archiving all posts related to it. Please refer to this and direct any questions about the Agrii ship there rather than below.

Do our communicators work on Noth?
Yes. It seems that they do work here. Anyone who really wants to look into the shuttles will find that they have equipment tucked away into them that serves as a backup/booster to the communication network.

What’s up with the clothes in the cabins?
It’s whatever would be seasonally appropriate for cold weather in the character’s native canon. This is very specifically not clothing the character has owned before, so these aren’t personal outfits. For someone from ‘modern’ America it’s likely to be a warm sweater and a winter-weight coat, as well as mittens and long pants, but it isn’t the scarf their grandmother knit them and their favorite sweater that has all these memories. There are also winter clothes suitable to children, though they aren’t necessarily to the character’s taste, just their size.

Tell us more about the chocolate gelt?
First, it’s NOT labeled that it will cause a change in age, though those characters who were around the first time He Rows visited Noth might remember the effects. Your character can learn from others or figure it out from seeing other He Rows eat it and learn to avoid it that way. Their clothes will not change with them, so it’s a good thing the chocolates are in the cabins and there’s all those changes of clothes for kids in there, isn’t it? All changes last eight days, and yes, this includes if you eat the chocolates on the final day on Noth, it will carry over. The chocolates cannot be taken off the planet though. The second you end up on a shuttle to leave, the chocolates seem to evaporate.

There are four types of gelt:
White Chocolate - The body you canonically had as a child with the mind to match, as if child you was plucked out of time and landed here.

Milk chocolate - Your current body, with all associated powers/abilities you may possess, but de-aged and with the mind of a child

Dark Chocolate - Your current body, with all of its powers and abilities, de-aged but your mind is still that of current you.

Weird Green Chocolate - The body you had as a child, but with your current mind.
At the ice castle do we sing currently existing songs or what?
Characters can sing songs that exist either in real life or in their worlds, or they may find their words just come out melodically. The effect ends as soon as one leaves the castle.

I forgot to ask for a New Tick Gift or I joined the game after the cut off date. What does this mean for my character(s)?
Please see the gifts comment thread below for an explanation of what your character will receive.

What happens if I try to open someone else’s gift?
Any He Row attempting to open someone else's gift will receive a light shock from the nearest A.G.R.I.I. unit (yes, they will seek you out). No one will be able to open a gift that is not for them. Nor will they be able to destroy it. No amount of dropping will break the presents while they remain in their packaging.

My gift is big/heavy. How am I getting it off the planet?
Don’t worry, the A.G.R.I.I.s can be asked to help load them onto a shuttle for you. Of course once you get back to your ship you have to get other help to get it off. Or just leave it there on the shuttle until you get back to Temba I guess.

Does this mean the wrapping paper/boxes/etc is indestructible?
Only until they are opened, after which they are fully destructible. Characters may reuse packing, but anything left loose/discarded/littered around will be cleaned up by the A.G.R.I.I.s. Though do you really want to set the example of littering?

Do we get to keep the Light Sparks/Sparklers this time?
Actually, yes. There are enough boxes this year for every character to get two boxes, and they could potentially ask for up to another two from passing Agrii who have a few leftover sticks. Enjoy your flammable compounds. We’re scared for you all.

Do I have to tell everyone what gift I got?
In addition to players having learned their gifts by way of replies to their requests, the gifts are listed below in a comment thread. Characters do not have to share this information in canon though. Everyone is getting two gifts this year, though. The Agrii consider spending this year together extra special and are showing that with extra generosity.

You mentioned Agrii having pets. What are they like?
They are about the size of a coffee table with six legs that each end in a paw. They are covered in a soft, multicolored pastel fur. Their eyes glow with a pale blue-green light and have a tiny horn in the middle of their heads. If you’re worried this sounds a little insect-like then rest assured that they look more like if a St. Bernard and a Chow Chow had a baby. A pastel, horned, six-legged baby. But hey, they are friendly. Super friendly. When they aren’t at their masters’ sides they are very prone to following He Rows around, especially if they give belly rubs or scritches around their horns and ears.

I want to talk to a specific Agrii, is this possible?
There is a comment below where you may ask for direct conversations. It will include a small form similar to that of the Barry/Funfrond Contact Request. If the Agrii in question is being asked something SUPER general we may give you a summary of what you walk away with. Please note most Agrii cannot speak in a He Row intelligible language and they can’t understand He Rows well either. If you want interactions with a specific named Agrii then you can request either an OOC Q&A you can handwave learning information from, or an actual interaction in a log. Please note full interaction threads may be slightly slower and/or some Agrii may not make themselves available to you.

You missed answering _____.
Sorry about that. This is a more open ended event with levels of complexity woven in that can be harder for us. If the question is about anything other than the Agrii ship itself, please ask it below in the appropriate thread. If it’s about the Agrii ship, please go to the new page and check there before asking.

New Tick starts on January 10th and concludes just before midnight on the same (Agra-10 time).

Refresh my memory, is the Noth day 30 hours like Temba, or 24 like "typical" Earth? Or something else?

If the character is turned bitty, would they remember the things that happened while they were bitty once they're at proper age again? Or is that to be up to the player?

While a character is in child form, is it possible to tag with a separate account for icon purposes if wished, or is that too complicated/confusing?

Are we allowed to make kreeturs/environmental dangers here, and are there limitations to that?

Did anyone ask around last time about where this place came from/who built it, and are they still here for Tony to talk to? Or should he be trying to ask the Agrii things like that?

What happens when a technically minded person attempts to interfere with the A.G.R.I.I.? Broadly, for good or ill.
Very specifically, can Tony network into them technopathically?

If a character isn't bothered by being forced to sing and still decides to explore the castle, is there anything noteworthy for them to find?

Since both of mine are potential culprits for this. One being plain curious and the other..... Let's say exploring large buildings is canonically appropriate.

Requesting Character Name: Tony
Do they want a specific Agrii or just a general response? General, he might canvas a few for answers
What information if any is the character looking for? Information on the background of this place and how it was built/how they found it. If there's a Builder that anyone points to, Tony will ask them for some pretty specific technical details.
If this is to be threaded, where specifically are they needed? I don't think this has to be threaded, but let me know if he'll get different answers depending on his approach.

What information if any is the character looking for? I must admit that I have no specific infomation in mind for Link to ask about - he just hasn't had any actual interaction with them yet, and I'd just really like to see what would happen in a thread. Also he is zooping around on the Agrii ship, possibly barging into some of the private residences, which I imagine might get a reaction!

Do they want a specific Agrii or just a general response? Any
What information if any is the character looking for? Since Wesker has been doing extensive research on Agra-10's flora and fauna and has come to some questionable results, he wants to figure out how exactly the Agrii fit into the system. Them as well as their pets. He will also ask for samples, obviously. Nothing unreasonable, just some material to research how their biology is affected by the planet and stuff.
If this is to be threaded, where specifically are they needed? I'm open to handwaving or playing this out, but I won't have a log up before tomorrow.

Requesting Character Name: the Soldier (Bucky Barnes etc etc)
Do they want a specific Agrii or just a general response? whatever you might feel appropriate (or hilarious for you); he has had interactions with Mu Ly and a follow up to that could be a thing, but also this dude was in the Drift Fleet so maybe he's idk, famous or something. He's definitely unmistakable with the whole arm thing so go wild with recognizing him if you think it'd happen.
What information if any is the character looking for? Honestly please just harass this man. Show him the consequences of his actions/his request from the above link. Give him reasons to be suspicious. Or even worse, be nice to him, he absolutely won't know what to do.
If this is to be threaded, where specifically are they needed? This post is available but tbh I'm fine with handwaving here as well, whatever floats your Agrii boat.
