SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME

SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Summer in Temba and Sh'Ka
Hot. Dry. Sunny. In a way the weather of Agra-10 seems overly intense this summer, and it's going to be a whole experience working through that. And every day almost seems like it's getting hotter and more brutal. But at least there are ways to deal with the heat. For one thing He Rows are welcome to head south out of Temba to hit up the beach. The purple sands are even relatively free of the Fat Green Lobsters, who are likely sheltering somewhere from the heat. But the waters are cool and welcoming so maybe this is a good place to pass the time. If you can deal with the fact that any food you bring might be stolen away by a Birbs. The colorful pests seem to be perfectly colored for the season and very ready to steal your stuff.

In Sh'Ka there's plenty of places to beat the heat. The stone buildings actually manage to keep the heat out pretty good, and there's also a lot of shade under the large stone trees. But maybe it isn't wise to hang out under the trees, as the local Deleon population is in herding part of the year. It is rare for them to gather as a herd, but when they do it's to protect their young. This makes them way more riled up and likely to attack anything they deem as a threat.

Or perhaps when it comes to beating the heat the best thing to do is seek shelter with others. The Diner in off of the square in Temba is usually open, with food laid out buffet style if you aren't lucky enough to catch one of the local He Rows who run it. There's also the Deep End, a bar in the towers in southeastern Temba where the alcohol is mostly free to access. Just remember not to bother the Colonel and you'll be fine. Maybe you can even pretend you're under water thanks to the wall of the space that is glass and looks into the water that fills the core of the tower complex, complete with local aquatic life.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Explore the Ships!
He Rows new and old can make use of the massive hangars in the northern part of Temba to access the equally large Glitter Food and Peanut Party. When He Rows are off the planet, these serve as their homes, their bases of operations, and their vessels all in one. Each He Row has a room assigned to them on their ship, one only they can access. There are also spaces for workshops and labs, for cooking and growing things, and even, shockingly enough, a large green space with trees, grasses, groundcovers, and even a large lake with sand leading on toward it. It shares a wall with the fake aquarium that makes up a wall of a bar like the Deep End. So it's a great place to go swimming provided you remember to wear something. All in all there is a massive ship to explore, and maybe you'll even meet your crewmates there.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

"No, that's- I mean that's a pretty sensitive question, and you don't...know me," Billy laughs bashfully, "I get it though. No matter what's going on, getting snatched out of it is...a big deal. Comes with a lot of confusing feelings...I dunno why I'm talking like a therapist or something. Sorry. Um- I work at the hospital, so if you ever need anything- or uh- well, there's the magic too, if you need that."

"No, it's fine. I just. Don't know how to answer it." Or if he wants to, but Billy may have picked up on that.

"I'll keep it in mind. I, um, usually heal myself." But having a hospital facility is probably a good idea in general. Though when the guy brings up magic again, Alec figures he might as well ask. "I'm sorry, it's rude but... are you a warlock?"

Billy looks a little surprised but quickly shakes off the concern. "Rude? No, um- I mean I usually say 'witch', but the terms are all pretty similar, mostly. Or they are where I'm from. Is it...bad?" Was that why he worried it was rude?

"What? No, it's not bad. I just didn't know how to ask." How does a guy ask another guy if he's a warlock? Even in Alec's home it'd be an awkward question. "But if you like witch, that's what I can use."

There's definitely some context Billy's missing, he can tell there's something more to it with how awkward it seems to be.

"Anything's fine, really. Do people in your world use magic who aren't warlocks?" 'Cause his spell with the glitter really should have been all the proof he needed.

It's a little more complicated, considering how Shadowhunters have traditionally treated others. Alec's not exactly proud of his people sometimes.

"Yes. I mean, only warlocks use warlock magic, but they're not the only people who use some form of magic." So maybe not as straightforward as Billy was thinking.
