SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Summer in Temba and Sh'Ka
In Sh'Ka there's plenty of places to beat the heat. The stone buildings actually manage to keep the heat out pretty good, and there's also a lot of shade under the large stone trees. But maybe it isn't wise to hang out under the trees, as the local Deleon population is in herding part of the year. It is rare for them to gather as a herd, but when they do it's to protect their young. This makes them way more riled up and likely to attack anything they deem as a threat.
Or perhaps when it comes to beating the heat the best thing to do is seek shelter with others. The Diner in off of the square in Temba is usually open, with food laid out buffet style if you aren't lucky enough to catch one of the local He Rows who run it. There's also the Deep End, a bar in the towers in southeastern Temba where the alcohol is mostly free to access. Just remember not to bother the Colonel and you'll be fine. Maybe you can even pretend you're under water thanks to the wall of the space that is glass and looks into the water that fills the core of the tower complex, complete with local aquatic life.
Explore
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Explore the Ships!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Inigo Montoya | The Princess Bride
"Who is there?" he eventually mutters, batting at the Data Point, trying to get it to enter into a dialogue. But this seems to be a lot of effort, now, and he sinks to the ground, having lost all power in his legs.
ii. the deep end
But of course, this, as always, leads to him talking to himself, or more precisely, Count Rugen.
"You thought you could defeat me, did you?" he mutters into the top of his mug of drink. "You see now what a worthless, spineless monster you are, don't you?"
This lasts until someone else enters the bar, and Inigo's hand instinctually goes to his sword. "Do not challenge me!" he warns.

"Wouldn't dream of it, dude."

"Hmmh. What is that?" he asks, gesturing toward the guitar. It doesn't seem like a weapon, exactly. But it's eye-catching and Inigo doesn't know what to make of it.

Maybe Inigo is unprepared for the glowing optics and the metal visage that greets him then, not to mention the amber light that spills from the Exo's throat with every word.
"We having fun here?"

"Fun," he says, imbuing the word with nearly a questioning, wistful tone. "I'm afraid I haven't had any on a long time."

Angel Dust | Hazbin Hotel (CW- Adult Language)
There ain't no way it's possible, but this sure as shit doesn't look like Hell. Angel tries touching that creepy orb thing again, and even tries askin' it questions, but it's a fucking floating ball, he wasn't expecting a whole lot.
So it's down to you- poor fellow netizen of this place- assuming the sight of the furry sinner's approach doesn't scare you away.
"Holy shit," he murmurs, staring at you in disbelief, "Are you ALIVE?" Is this a real living, breathing person and not a soul???
The Deep End
"Oh thank fuck," Angel sighs, dropping onto a stool by the bar, grateful to have found a place to stop that building headache. And whether it's your job or not, hot-stuff, you have just been designated bartender.
"What's the strongest shit you got in this place?" he asks with a flirtatious grin.
Chilchuck Tims | Delicious in Dungeon (primarily anime)
When Chilchuck arrives, it’s hot. Which isn’t unexpected, because the floor they were descending to is hot.
Literally everything else is unexpected, though.
Chilchuck turns in a complete circle, taking in the alien landscape. He’s alone, which is the most alarming part of this. And there’s some kind of orb floating there…
Yeah, he ain’t touchin’ that.
“This is definitely a trap,” he says, turning again. “I just… haven’t seen one like this. Is it a monster…”
And can his party hear him as he talks?
B: Could a Chilchuck Chuck (Diner)
Okay, so it’s not a trap - it’s something even more insane. How does he get mixed up in these things…
Also, it seems likely Laios and the others aren’t here, or if they are he hasn’t found them. So he’ll have to make it on his own for now.
The first thing to do is secure some food. Which is what leads him to the diner, which he thinks is like the canteen or shops in town. Though… he’s never seen one like this.
He starts rifling through the cabinets and food stores and ends up holding a cumato curiously.
“…Man, I can’t believe I actually miss Senshi’s infodumps about cooking. I have no idea what this is.”
C: If a Chilchuck Could Chuck Chil? (Deep End)
Oh, now we’re talkin’!
Chilchuck takes in the bar, so different from the taverns and pubs he’s used to. Still, it has alcohol, and that’s all he need to know.
He has no money, but so far he hasn’t needed any. Is that still true of the alcohol…?
He sneaks behind the bar, taking a look at what is on offer. “Can I really just… take this…?”
Don’t mind the person who looks about twelve who is also pulling out an entire bottle of alcohol just for himself…
[[OOC: If you’re not familiar, Chilchuck is a half-foot. He’s about 3’7” (109 cm) and looks like a kid, but he’s actually middle-aged. It’s fine if your character mistakes him for a child, though, it happens frequently.]]
B - Listen you don't want to know what it is.
There wasn't anyone else in the diner a moment ago, not in the kitchen, not approaching either door. And yet there's suddenly a dude there with a crate of something or other, setting it down on a counter.
"Looks like a cucumber, sorta, takes like a tomato, but with a bit of an oregano edge. Great for making pasta sauce. They don't preserve well though. So this is harvest and processing season before they get canned for use later in the year."
Hey look at that, strange dude is info dumping about food.
"So, kid, you new here?"
no subject
The explanation is still appreciated (he thinks he knows what to do with this, after all) but the rest is not. He grits his teeth.
“Not a kid. I’m a half-foot.” He sighs. “But yes, I am new, apparently.”

B. Storm
[ooc: taking him from just before the split of core from alternate timeline, letting him accept as fact either path]
Storm;
Just because he can resist the phantasms doesn't mean everyone can, however. It doesn't matter that he doesn't recognize the other man. What matters is that said man walks toward nothing but one of the holes in the pavement, a nasty fall imminent.
He reaches out, hand closing around the other man's upper arm. "Whatever you think you see isn't there."

And, of course, even if she's speaking to a total stranger, Cheryl still speaks up, her voice full of confusion, and a slither of annoyance.
"It doesn't make any sense, does it? Relying on strangers for heroics. So you would hope they wouldn't...." But so far, it seems legitimate.

Janet Van Dyne, Wasp | Avengers Academy
"Oh my goooood... it's sooo hot," Janet muttered to herself as she looked around for any familiar faces. "What is this place?"
She wandered past the fountain, poking her head in and out of doors all around.
"Hello?" she called. "Helloooo?" With a slight huff and a stomp of her foot, she pouted as she tried one last time. "Is anyone here?"
She'd do this at several buildings around the main square before ending up at the diner.
"Oh, it's much cooler in here!" That meant someone had to be here, right? Power, a working cooling system, the smell of cooking food... signs of life!
She just hoped it was friendly. She wasn't afraid to fight... in fact, she often relished it, but this weather!
=====
From hot and dry to cold and wet. The storm had come on quickly and now Wasp was soaked. She was pretty angry, too, because it was going to ruin her jacket. She hunkered down, attempting to find shelter quickly from the rain.
"Sudden rain is the worst!" Sure, the buildings were run down and abandoned, but that meant she could duck inside and not feel obligated to buy something for borrowing their roof to hide from the downpour.
Or maybe this building wasn't abandoned... had she walked in on someone? Or did they just walk in on her?
But it leaves an impression. in my other game Tommy has a sloth named Speedy for reasons
"Hello," is the greeting she gets from a room that was empty a minute ago and now has a smiling guy in the room starting a kettle.
"I'm Tommy. You're new, welcome."

Not that Max wants to be soaking wet and wandering around in it, which is why, she too, is seeking momentary shelter in the current building. They simply had the same idea at the same time.

Alec Lightwood | Shadowhunters
Another day, another new arrival. Alec sat down hard at the edge of the fountain, not quite a swoon but certainly a shock of coming from a much cooler climate, and so suddenly; he wasn't unfamiliar with summer weather, but this was a lot for a guy who came here in jeans and a leather jacket. Immediately he pushed the sleeves up his forearms, revealing what appeared to be tattoos on his skin. Then he seemed to remember himself, pulling a slim tool from his pocket and tracing an intricate shape on his left forearm. The tool seemed to leave a burn mark behind, though the mark and Alec's other tattoos disappeared the moment he lifted the tip from his skin.
Storing the wand-like implement back in his pocket he took one final look around the fountain's immediate vicinity before picking a direction at random to start walking, hopefully to find some shade and decide what he should do next. He still half believed he was dreaming, or had been hit with some kind of magic spell gone awry.
Ships;
Alec wasn't sure what was weirder, the strangely run down town or the apparent spaceship. Alec couldn't quite wrap his head completely around that; he'd seen a lot of weird things but somehow the concept of aliens had him struggling. At least the weather outside didn't seem to extend to the ship's interior so that gave the ship a major point in its favor.
It was rapidly losing the point though. He'd found the kitchen — which was great, a guy needed to eat! — but the soft serve coming out of the dispensers looked the opposite of appealing. Still, he had a plate and was methodically dispensing the smallest amount he could, just to try so he'd know what he was in for.
On the plus side, he'd eaten worse.
The latest dispenser seemed stuck though... until it suddenly wasn't. A flood of glitter came out, getting absolutely everywhere before he could turn it off. He sighed, indulging in a selfish albeit silent moment of why me before looking around for cleaning supplies. Hopefully no one would wander in before he could get it cleaned up, or mind too much if it got on their shoes.
"A warlock spell would be real useful right about now," he muttered to himself, then flushed guiltily. He shouldn't let himself think that way.
Network: Video to Voice;
[The video clicks on, showing Alec's face for a moment. He vocalizes a soft sound:] Ah.
[The screen goes dark then, video feed cut but audio still running.]
I'm looking for my sister, if anyone's seen her. Isabelle Lightwood. Izzy.
[A bit of an awkward pause, but Alec isn't sure what else he should say.]
Um. Thanks.
OOC: At a Glance;
Show canon only, I'm not familiar with the books but welcome the confusion caused by alternate universes. Loosely saying end of S1/beginning of S2, but familiar with the entire show so no worries for spoilers.

Sephiroth | Kingdom Hearts
Sephiroth isn’t unused to the idea of other worlds; there are many in his universe. For all he knows, this is another one. He absorbs the message at the fountain with a thoughtful expression. He is calm, cool, and collected no matter what is happening around him and takes all of this in stride ... except he’s thoroughly annoyed to have been stripped of his precious Masamune. He turns away, leaving behind a dark blue feather or two from one of his three ever-present blue wings as he heads off down the street.
“Excuse me,” he greets whoever happens to run across him. “Are there to be no weapons here at all?”
He holds out his hand and makes a small fireball in it. He still has his powers from home. This Sephiroth is not as terrifyingly overpowered as his counterpart in Gaia (even though he is still not someone you’ll want to go up against in a fight unless you have to).
“Isn’t it an odd double standard that we may keep our powers but not our weapons? Our powers can be dangerous as well.”
Diner
Sephiroth has settled down at a booth, looking over the information on his communication device. He is not even going to address the terrible spelling.
“These data points,” he muses. “Do they simply imbue you with new knowledge, or do they interfere with your mind in other ways?”
He did not appreciate the pull to the fountain data point and does not want a data point if there’s any danger of his mind being taken over. On the other hand, if that isn’t a problem, he seems to be considering the Security data point.
Arrival - Because I had to
A certain man, the only one on the plant with an instinctive fear reaction to that voice and that hair and fire mixed with that voice and that hair happens to be walking from the hotel toward the diner to fetch a meal for his injured boyfriend. And a certain man, with a certain little cat figure walking at his side, hears said voice, and sees said hair, and notices said fire. And of course, old terror (and a burst of irrationality because who was Reeve Tuesti to challenge any form of Sephiroth, Minerva perserve fools), has him reacting instinctively.
So without really thinking about it, Reeve's calling on one of the materia at his wrist, blizzard thankfully, and striking out with it. Well, more like throwing as much magical force as he can behind encasing the fireball in enough ice for it to melt and quell the flames.
Which is truly a stupid thing to do, with him in sight of the frightfully dangerous man.
LOL.

Diner
Then he starts talking. As the friends from her homeworld hadn't been that concerned about the data points, she hadn't even considered her mind might get messed with. But...now that someone mentions it. She turns around.
"I picked mine a few months ago. Doesn't seem to affect anything else. Far as I know, if you pick another data point, the knowledge just leaves you, too. Seems pretty harmless." But seems - he's got her thinking.
