SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME

SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Summer in Temba and Sh'Ka
In Sh'Ka there's plenty of places to beat the heat. The stone buildings actually manage to keep the heat out pretty good, and there's also a lot of shade under the large stone trees. But maybe it isn't wise to hang out under the trees, as the local Deleon population is in herding part of the year. It is rare for them to gather as a herd, but when they do it's to protect their young. This makes them way more riled up and likely to attack anything they deem as a threat.
Or perhaps when it comes to beating the heat the best thing to do is seek shelter with others. The Diner in off of the square in Temba is usually open, with food laid out buffet style if you aren't lucky enough to catch one of the local He Rows who run it. There's also the Deep End, a bar in the towers in southeastern Temba where the alcohol is mostly free to access. Just remember not to bother the Colonel and you'll be fine. Maybe you can even pretend you're under water thanks to the wall of the space that is glass and looks into the water that fills the core of the tower complex, complete with local aquatic life.
Explore
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Explore the Ships!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Alec Lightwood | Shadowhunters
Another day, another new arrival. Alec sat down hard at the edge of the fountain, not quite a swoon but certainly a shock of coming from a much cooler climate, and so suddenly; he wasn't unfamiliar with summer weather, but this was a lot for a guy who came here in jeans and a leather jacket. Immediately he pushed the sleeves up his forearms, revealing what appeared to be tattoos on his skin. Then he seemed to remember himself, pulling a slim tool from his pocket and tracing an intricate shape on his left forearm. The tool seemed to leave a burn mark behind, though the mark and Alec's other tattoos disappeared the moment he lifted the tip from his skin.
Storing the wand-like implement back in his pocket he took one final look around the fountain's immediate vicinity before picking a direction at random to start walking, hopefully to find some shade and decide what he should do next. He still half believed he was dreaming, or had been hit with some kind of magic spell gone awry.
Ships;
Alec wasn't sure what was weirder, the strangely run down town or the apparent spaceship. Alec couldn't quite wrap his head completely around that; he'd seen a lot of weird things but somehow the concept of aliens had him struggling. At least the weather outside didn't seem to extend to the ship's interior so that gave the ship a major point in its favor.
It was rapidly losing the point though. He'd found the kitchen — which was great, a guy needed to eat! — but the soft serve coming out of the dispensers looked the opposite of appealing. Still, he had a plate and was methodically dispensing the smallest amount he could, just to try so he'd know what he was in for.
On the plus side, he'd eaten worse.
The latest dispenser seemed stuck though... until it suddenly wasn't. A flood of glitter came out, getting absolutely everywhere before he could turn it off. He sighed, indulging in a selfish albeit silent moment of why me before looking around for cleaning supplies. Hopefully no one would wander in before he could get it cleaned up, or mind too much if it got on their shoes.
"A warlock spell would be real useful right about now," he muttered to himself, then flushed guiltily. He shouldn't let himself think that way.
Network: Video to Voice;
[The video clicks on, showing Alec's face for a moment. He vocalizes a soft sound:] Ah.
[The screen goes dark then, video feed cut but audio still running.]
I'm looking for my sister, if anyone's seen her. Isabelle Lightwood. Izzy.
[A bit of an awkward pause, but Alec isn't sure what else he should say.]
Um. Thanks.
OOC: At a Glance;
Show canon only, I'm not familiar with the books but welcome the confusion caused by alternate universes. Loosely saying end of S1/beginning of S2, but familiar with the entire show so no worries for spoilers.

Check the ships list. There are crew rosters. They list who is present.

I found them. I was just hoping—
[Well, he didn't have to voice it, did he?]
no subject
Unfortunately those listings are accurate.
no subject
I— Thank you. The confirmation is... it's good. Thanks.
no subject
It is often better to be glad those we love are not around. They do not have to experience this mess.

[What did he get himself into now?]

[The fact he even needs to ask...]

Ships
"One spell coming up," he offered bashfully, fingertips flashing with a blue magic that swirled to collect the glitter and poof it all away.
no subject
"Who—" But the guy is already casting his spell, fingertips glowing blue in a way that reminds Alec of a certain warlock he knows. He tries not to blush at the memory.
"Thanks," he says, probably looking more than a little awkward now that there's nothing to clean up. "I didn't know there was a warlock on board."
no subject
So he just smiles and waves off the thanks, "Pretty sure magic is literally the only way to get rid of glitter," he jokes. "I'm guessing you're new?"
no subject
"I don't think I'd argue with that." He'd been doing so good, up until that point. And of course it had to be glitter, which just made him think of Magnus. "Is it that obvious?"
no subject
"You're good," Billy promises, "You're gonna have to get used to being ambushed with glitter, the Agrii are really into it. I'm Billy. Kaplan, um, there's a lot of Billy's now I guess, so- call me whatever, honestly. You handling everything okay?"
no subject
"Keep an eye out for glitter, got it." It sounds horrible, but harmless? Alec hopes the glitter is harmless. "I'm Alec," he returns the greeting. "I guess I'm still getting used to everything."
no subject
Horrible but harmless might as well being the Agrii's general day to day motto. And then there were the special occasions where everything was in fact harmful. But lets not scare the new guy too much straight away.
"It's a lot to get used to. But you're handling it better than some people. Visually at least- you might be freaking out inside."
no subject
"Don't have much of a choice, do I? The few people I've talked to say there's no way out. Being upset about it isn't going to change that." He's just going to have to deal with it, same as everyone else. And maybe be glad he's the one that got brought here instead of his sister or Jace.

Ships;
"If a warlock spell was real. In this case, water is going to do you more favors," she insists. And no, it hasn't occurred to her if aliens and spaceships are real, yes, magic could be, too.
no subject
"You might want to stand back." At least, away from the line between glitter and sink. If there is one universal truth than transcends magic and aliens and anything else, it's that glitter loves to stick to everything.
no subject
They clearly don't exist. In her world.
She does move back from the glitter, though.
"Of course. But glitter can be fun. When used in small doses. Appropriately."
no subject
"There's nothing about this mess that's fun." Probably because it is a mess, and apparently part of what passes for food on the ships. Alec isn't thrilled about it at all. But even bad food gel was better than no food at all, right?
no subject
"That's not proof for me." Because if it doesn't affect her, then certainly it doesn't exist. Sure. No one said she was easy to deal with.
There's a sigh from her as she looks over the mess. She sounds like it pains her to agree, but, "Agreed. Best we don't spread it around."
no subject
"Didn't know there was a we." He figures he'll be cleaning it up alone. But he's hoping that she's not going to watch and judge.
no subject
She sighs and rolls her eyes. Cheryl both prefers going at things alone, and is a bit mean spirited to push people away, and yet, is naturally drawn toward teams, at the same time. She wants to find a place to belong....
"Well, I'm here. And I don't want it getting on me. Can I really count on you to clean it adequately?"
