TEST DRIVE
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Fall Test Drive for The Revival Project!
For those who do not know, this game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about what this game is about, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
Starting on the 7th, the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level so we know. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! The only option not allowed is to completely restart your character (because then it's not DFAU, is it?)
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Please use either the first event or the previous TDM for prompt ideas!

Honestly, I don't know, [Bucky has to admit, coming within a couple feet and stopping at a polite distance. He definitely notices that she's not looking at him, per se, but he isn't about to call that out just yet.] I know they brought us here. I assume they can do the reverse, but until anyone around here actually gets to talk to one of 'em...
[He shrugs.]
I've been here a couple weeks, now. You can call me Bucky.
no subject
Toph. So what's going on here? This place feels abandoned... but there are still people around.
[ She can feel them, though only faintly.]
Noooo worries! I was not super-descriptive or helpful <3
[That's... an interesting way to put it.]
As far as I know, the only people around are like you - and me. They were brought here in the last couple weeks to do what the thing said. [He motions to the Data Point.] Fix things up, whatever that's supposed to mean.
I wish I could give you more answers than that, but I don't really have 'em. It's not my first kidnapped-by-aliens rodeo, but apparently that doesn't count for much. I can show you where most people are staying and get you something to eat, though.
no subject
Great- So we're just an involuntary maintenance crew?...
[ A light puff of air blows her bangs out the way, and as she nods there's a moment where he might catch those pale green eyes. ]
But sure, I could go for some food at least. Lead the way, Bucky.
no subject
[He does catch a glimpse and... that's strange. He frowns a little, pausing when she speaks.
Finally, he figures - fuck it.] How literally d'you need me to do that?
[Can she see well enough to follow him, he means. Worst he can (probably) do is make her mad.
God, he used to be charming.]
no subject
I don't need anyone to hold my hand, if that's what you're asking.
How many people are hiding around here, anyway?
[ Sorry bucky, she's not upset, she's just a bit rude. ]
no subject
[Frankly, she reminds him of a certain someone he grew up with.]
Okay. Just checking.
[And he leaves it at that, because if she says she's okay, he's going to believe her until he sees otherwise.
He gives it a few seconds of thought, counting up people in his head.] About 30. I know some of 'em from the place I was last, but some are new, so we didn't all come from the same place, either. I'm from Earth.
[Here's where he waits to see about her, even as he sets off in the right direction.]
no subject
Earth? So am I! What tribe are you from? [ Because what other kind of Earth is there?
That aside, she's a bit curious. ] Who's running this place, anyway? Those weird... Agrii?
[ That was the name, right?]
no subject
Uh... the Army, [Bucky hazards, because that seems like the most reasonable answer. Probably a better one than SHIELD, and definitely a better one than the Barneses... of whom there are not many left, and he has not really put a lot of effort into finding the ones that are, and none of that is actually relevant right now.] What tribe are you from? [Definitely seems to be the appropriate follow-up question, despite the fact that he feels like the answer might be kind of meaningless to him.]
I don't know if the Agrii [yep, that's the name, as far as he knows] are running it so much as... actively not running it and preferring that we did all the hard work for 'em, [he points out.] I mean, it's better than serving as entertainment, which was kinda the last gig I had. If you can have a gig you didn't sign up for.
[At least, he thinks this is better. Kinda. At least before, they weren't in danger of starving. So it's a toss up.]

[ She can, possibly, sense his confusion, if not in his body reactions then likely in his tone. She gestures to her outfit, the greens and tans that are so typical of her nation even if she can't see them. ]
I'm from the Earth kingdom, probably the strongest earth bender in the world! Surely you're familiar with that at least? [ She hasn't quite worked out 'other' earths. ]
So... what? There's no rules here? I'd have been more willing to help if they asked first!
no subject
[Bucky starts to shake his head, out of habit - and then thinks better of it.] Nope. Neither. United States?
[Yeah, even as he says it, he sounds like he knows she won't recognize it - that is, until she says "bender." Then he perks up.] Wait - is that like water bending?
no subject
[ Her lips trace over the unfamiliar title, likely the exact reaction he was expecting. That said, she perks up almost immediately after he does, even smiling at the question. ]
Only because it's also bending! But earth bending is as different from water bending as it is to air bending! [ The idea makes her laugh, pausing in her walk to face Bucky. ] Are you from the water tribe then?... How'd you not know about the other nations?
no subject
Of America, [is Bucky's answer, although,] I don't think that's really helpful to you, is it, [he adds, wryly. If she's asking, then just giving her the name doesn't help.] It's a country divided into for- fifty states. [It's fifty now.] Each state governs on its own, but there's one government that controls all of them. It's - not really important. We're obviously from pretty different places.
[But at least, apparently, they've got a common point of understand, because,] I'm definitely not from the water tribe. I just met someone here who is. We don't have bending, where I'm from.
no subject
[ She shrugs, they were both expecting it, it seems. But she presses on, gesturing for him to keep on 'leading' the way.
At least... For a few feet, then the statement makes her stop. ]
Wait- Don't have bending... Met someone from the water tribe? [ Another puff of air blows her bangs out the way again, quick to fall back on her brashness. ] What was their name, and where are they? I might actually get some sense out of them at least!
no subject
He does, admittedly, pause at the question, sizing her up, even if she can't really see the guarded look on his face.]
No bending, [he confirms. Then,] You ain't at war with the water tribe or anything, are you?
[Look. He's just looking out for a friend. He doesn't know how your world works.]
no subject
Granted, looks are deceiving. ]
Nope, that's the Fire Nation. There's not exactly a lot of 'earth' around the water tribes for us to use, so there haven't really been many conflicts.
[ She shrugs, then tilts her head back to frown in his general direction. ]
I just... want to know if I have any friends here.
no subject
[Bucky definitely knows that big trouble can still come in small packages. And that sometimes those small packages know it - and take advantage of it.]
No, I get it. I mean - I also get that you could be lying to me.
But, [what the hell. Katara's pretty badass, and Bucky's not about to just throw these two together and walk away if something seems off.] Her name's Katara. She's probably exploring the city, but most people spend the night in the same place, so. [Bucky can probably get them both in the same place at the same time.]
no subject
Katara's here!? [ Her hands wave about enthusiastically before she shifts into a stance. ] Forget food, lets go find her!
no subject
I'm gonna guess you two know each other pretty well, [he says, almost with a laugh.] She's still in the same direction. We're going.
[He does keep moving; maybe even picks up the pace, then.] Y'know, it makes me wonder, if people who know each other keep showing up here. Seems intentional.
no subject
[ The soft patter of feet picks up the pace to keep up with him, working those small legs a little harder! Her head bobs to show she's listening, probably the only visual cue she gives. ]
Makes sense, I suppose? If they think you can help, then it's likely your friends can too, right?
no subject
I guess it does make sense. I don't know if it makes me feel any better, though.
Come on. Let's go find her, then.
... And then I might want an earth bending demonstration. I've seen her water bend, that shit's impressive.
no subject
[ It's surely better than hers, at least. Not a high bar. Though the smirk on her lips is a decent cause for concern.
Motioning for him to stop, her feet sweep into a wide stance, hands out and palms up. Two brisk motions, as if gathering invisible, earth, then her body lifts, hands jutting out straight up. And so do they.
On a pillar of rock, to be precise. A solid 10 feet wide to give them both plenty of space to stand on, the ground beneath them cracks in an instant, shooting up in an earthy rock column several stories. Hope he's not afraid of heights! ]
Can you spot her from here?
no subject
Well, shit, [he murmurs; no, he's not afraid of heights. That's awe in his voice. He maybe even takes a step or two closer to the edge - once they stop rising, at least. It's a damn good viewpoint up here. The sniper in him, only shallowly buried under the red, white, and blue shield, is pretty pleased.]
I - [He squints, looking for Katara's telltale blue and white clothing, and - ] Yeah. Dunno if she can see us, but I can see her.
[And then, because he's gotta say something.] This is pretty damn swell.
no subject
Only one way to find out-- [ Her hands raise to cup around her lips, taking a deeeeep breath before belting out: ] HEY! K A T A R AAAAA.
[ As loud as she can, waiting for a moment and listening before turning back to him. ]
I don't think she heard me... But yeah, it's pretty neat!
no subject
Yeah, she - doesn't look like she heard. But at least we're goin' in the right direction.
[So that'll help - once they get back on the ground.] So - earth bending is big, but not necessarily stealthy, I'm guessing.
