Summer Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...
noooooooo!
I would super like to hear that one, yes.

I was on the track of an infinity stone, the aether, when my paths crossed with another who searched for it for his own uses, Malekith, the leader of the remaining Dark Elves. He wishes to use it to poison Yggdrasil and plunge the Nine Realms into darkness. I convinced him that I would be amenable to such a plan, and due to my recent exile from Asgard, Malekith accepted that his enemies were also my enemies and accept my aid, though he did not fully trust me. [Loki gives a cheeky smile.]
Though as it turned out, neither of us found the aether; instead a mortal stumbled into its hiding place, and the mortal happened to be none other than Doctor Jane Foster, the woman my brother Thor loves. The aether entered her body and she took it back to Midgard with her, and before I could do anything, Thor whisked her off to Asgard to figure out what could be done to save her!
Malekith wished to attack Asgard and seize the aether immediately, but I told him to wait, and that I could deliver it to him with no trouble or risk to his people. He allowed me to attempt to take it, though he secretly put his own attack plans into motion as well.
I traveled to Asgard and tried to get Doctor Foster and Thor to come with me to the Dark Elves' homeworld, though before I could succeed, Malekith launched his attack. That did work in my favor, as Thor was convinced of the threat and that Malekith would withdraw from Asgard once he sensed the aether had left it. The offered chance to remove the aether without harming Doctor Foster was likely also decisive for both of them.
Once we had arrived on the barren world, we only needed to wait for Malekith to return, though Doctor Foster found an escape route to Midgard during the wait which soon proved invaluable. Once Malekith returned, I handed the two over to him, seemingly rendered helpless, so he could draw the aether out of the doctor.
[Now he gives a smile that has quite the nasty edge.]
Of course my brother's helplessness was feigned, and once his love was free of the aether we dropped the ruse and attacked. Malekith was furious, and while he managed to retreat with the aether, he ordered half his soldiers to remain and deal with us, particularly me. A choice which also worked against him in the end, as their focus on me allowed me to act as a decoy while Thor and Doctor Foster escaped to Midgard.
[He spreads his hands.] I defeated all the soldiers alone, as you can see, and Thor and the mortals foiled Malekith's plans for the Nine Realms.

Billy's lips have curled into a smirk by the end of that tale, wondering from experience how much of it is really true and how much may have been dressed up here and there. Still, he has a way with words, and doesn't seem to be the threat he's been known to be on occasion. To them at least.]
If my Loki's done any of that he's definitely failed to brag about it. [He offers finally.] And until recently he only came up to about...here on me. [He pulls back to mark mid-chest with a grin.] So...I'm guessing you're from somewhere else in the multi-verse. Same flair for the story telling though. Good to know that's consistent.
no subject
So, what do you know of this multi-verse, and our relations within it?
no subject
Uh, well...before I got pulled here we were traveling through it. Seeing all sort of different worlds and different...versions of us. Seeing a lot of that here too... And I kind of had a peek through all the possible Loki's when I was helping him become a little more adult sized.
no subject
Ah, so you are attempting to ascertain which version I am? Do you intend to enlighten me about your individual impressions?

I did once tell Thor that I never wanted the throne. That is and always has been true, no matter the circumstances. I admit, I would not turn one down, should it be offered or in need of filling, but I am not seeking one out, and I do not intend to seize one by force.
Complicated is one word for me. I know of many who would have their own, some more complimentary, some less.
The Loki you knew... did he know fully who he was and what his place in the world was?
no subject
Um, well I think he knew a lot more then he let on. He uh...he's been around for a long time. Done a lot of things...I've only really known him for the tiniest part of his life, but...I think he was starting to figure things out? He's sort of at a place where he can start over...choose who he wants to be, and I think he's struggling a bit with the weight of that?
...He was teaching me. Magic. How to use it better. And helping me fix something I messed up, but-...he was also using me, so...complicated. Yeah.
no subject
You should never be surprised that I might be using you. But that does not have to be a bad thing. I have allowed others to use me in turn, without harm to them. We use each other, but we also help each other.
Anyway. You know magic? And can use magic as we gods do? [He smiles a little.] I hope I have a chance to inform Doctor Foster of that fact. She would feel quite vindicated.

I'd take the training. I'd just know better than to fully trust you this time.
no subject
I would want to use your use of Asgardian magic as a mortal to prove a point to Odin. Nothing sinister, just prove the hidebound old fool wrong.
[He smirks.] I will not hold your mistrust against you. [In fact it probably makes him respect the boy more.]
no subject
But if that'll all you want me for this time then I'm game.
no subject
It might not be all... I would also like to learn some of what you know. And I have enemies that may follow me here, and empowering an ally to help protect myself and where I currently reside would be a form of use.
no subject
I'm not sure how equipped I am to take on Loki-level enemies, but if anyone comes here looking to hurt people I'll do my best to stop them.

The Avengers have all pledged to fight Thanos should he threaten them again, and most do not have magic or any talents equivalent. He is too great a threat for any one, but together, we have a chance. I would rather leave before he launches an attack, should he arrive in search of me, but it seems that may not be an option.
no subject
[His eyes widen, colour draining a little.]
...Thanos? Thanos is after you??
[He is definitely not confident about taking on Thanos.]
no subject
Unfortunately, yes, or so I must assume, as I betrayed him and ruined some of his plans. Though if you have heard of him and fear him, I suppose I should be thankful I do not need to convince you of the threat he poses. [Trying to find any marginal silver lining.]
no subject
no subject
I dearly wish I could take any knowledge of the threat he poses back to my universe with me, along with this Galactus and others you consider the worst threats, but it seems that is not possible. [And he sighs again. He just came into some huge advantages, but he has no way to use them. So frustrating.]
no subject
And hey, we don't know anything for sure. We only have the really small sample of people to ask, and none of them were magic, so...worth preparing for either eventuality, right?
no subject
That is true. And none of us have been released by the Agrii. If they have the power to draw us all here, they may also allow us to return and retain all the knowledge we gained here. And perhaps we do not need to wait for them to grant us that boon...
