Summer Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...
Loki | MCU AU
[Loki can be seen strolling around the city, giving the rundown buildings long detached looks and occasionally making quiet derisive sounds. He clearly doesn't think much of the place, but he also doesn't seem inclined to make it any worse.]

[Loki makes sure he's perfectly framed when the video starts; he clearly knows what he's doing. He's smirking slightly as he addresses the network.]
So, if what I have been told is accurate, I have been brought here to help save this world? [He gives a soft chuckle.] Well. An odd choice, but it is not the worst task I have ever done, nor the worst place to spend some time.
Still. I have some questions about the details and I think I would trust the answers from fellow heroes more than those from our... patrons.
Finally, I should introduce myself. I am Loki of Asgard, God of Mischief. If any here are from Midgard, or Earth as the inhabitants tend to call it, you may have heard of me, but I regret to inform you that most of the myths are highly exaggerated. Do feel free to ask me for a more accurate tale if you wish.
[He gives a pleasant, if somewhat still superior smile and a wave as he signs off.]
Ghosts of the storm
[Loki's been staring out into the storm morosely for a while. Suddenly he looks startled and alert.]
Thor? Is that you, brother?
[And off he goes into it, chasing a ghost others might not even see. Not long after he starts out, his appearance suddenly changes, the ornate Asgardian garments turning into more standard clothing. He stops and takes a look at himself and waves a hand to no effect.
[He pauses for a moment more, then shakes his head and goes on, a look of determination with some desperation on his face.]

It's late in the night and dark out when the Forsaken notices another person not too far away. In theory they shouldn't be seeing him as he sends one of his monstrous bugs forward to investigate - And if necessary attack.

Cloud had tried to ask the replicator for a baseball bat. Where did his luck go? He knows where it went but he's not going to complain about it. Cloud will continue moving forward the best he could. But what does stop him is the monstrous bug coming forward seemingly out of no where.
"Uh..." He presses his lips together while putting his hands up with his palms facing forward. Maybe he might look not threatening. "Good bug?" Stupid for trying to talk to a bug. Cloud knows he might look crazy but he doesn't really care. If the bug seems to want to attack him then he might have to get a little threatening back at it.

Andy/The Old Guard
Spaceships, but it's the pit stop event, deal
This time might have been the one. She hasn't been here before.
The floor looked like it should have been colder. It definitely treated Andy that way. She slowly pushed herself up, trying to feel her way into recognition, but it wasn't coming. It was hot in here, in this--boat? Aircraft? Whatever it was, it was sealed, no draft, no obvious escape, and no movement on the air that told her anyone was nearby.
Whoever put her here was stupid enough to leave the axe. On her feet, still listening and careful not to make any noise, she worked it incrementally from her back then let the head thud onto the floor, sending the vibration through the hull. Still nothing. Except--
The door disengaged and slid open, followed immediately by the whistling sing of metal in the air as the blade of the axe sliced and lodged into the bulkhead.
Can you hear me now?
[She can manage a text, eventually. Wait for her to type, okay? And figure out how to open the message. The old kind was easier.]
One of us is going to die.

This time around he'll try his best to be helpful. There has to come a time where he must fight. The Crystal Exarch wasn't expecting a fight quite so quickly.
The axe lodging itself into the bulkhead startled him to the point of immediately grabbing hold of his staff from behind him.
"By the twelve..."
The Crystal Exarch holds it out in front of him and it starts to glow a bright white light. The staff splits and shifts into a sword and shield that's still glowing that bright white.
"I would like to not cause any more destruction to the ships." He doesn't know if it'll be possible. But he doesn't want to tempt fate in that way.
"Would you be interested in talking over your demands?" The Crystal Exarch could talk to the owner of the axe he wasn't exactly afraid. If anything his stance is waiting, with the shield down at his side along with the sword.

He's on his way to do a little bit of scavenging, maybe catch a few fish for dinner, when he notices a small figure wandering nearby. The group here isn't terribly large and he knows most people, but this person doesn't look like one he's seen here yet. New arrival maybe? He's not close enough to see for sure, but hey, heck if he isn't gonna try to be the best welcome wagon he can.
When he gets close enough to get a better look at them, Lance stops in his tracks. Blinks. Rubs his eyes. He...has to be seeing things, yeah? Must be. It's been over a year, longer even, since he's seen anyone from his own world aside from Keith. Sometimes he thinks he'll see them again out of the corner of his eye, but it's always gone in an instant, wishful thinking. But as he begins moving again, taking careful steps, the person doesn't disappear from his vision.]

[His voice isn't loud when he calls out, more hesitant than anything, still unsure if he's really seeing her.]

Iroh | Avatar the Last Airbender
It certainly seemed that the city had seen better days, and was now in a state that was far from its prime. Iroh wandered the streets, occasionally peaking in various storefronts in search of others, and in search of perhaps something to eat, water, or perhaps even a nice cup of tea. The hotel would have been nice, but unfortunately at the moment, he found himself with no means of securing a room, and little chance of finding the funds for such a luxury. Luckily he had become quite accustomed to finding refuge in the most unlikely of places.
Do you hear a storm?
Storms were not something that would generally bother Iroh, the rain was a much-needed thing for the land, and the energy of the spirits had to be set loose in one form of another. However, it was still somewhat unlike him to wander out into one as he was now. But he had heard a voice, one that had not spoken for many years, one that weighed heavily on his heart and conscience. The figure that he followed looked to be a soldier, one that was in his prime and resembled the old man.
"Please wait, I wish to speak with you."
Unfortunately, though he would not have the chance as the spirit faded, followed by a blinding flash of light as lightning struck.
Can you hear me now?
What a magnificent device. To be able to send messages to one far away so rapidly and reliably.
[Iroh might be a little too close to the camera, his face filling the entire frame and slightly out of focus.]
And for it to capture such a realistic painting and send it as well, how marvelous a thing. It would have certainly made all those long trips from home much easier and would have helped to keep in touch with old friends.
Or perhaps to reach out and find new ones.

Echo | Star Wars: The Clone Wars
A Greenhouse. It seemed harmless enough; as Echo entered the building, each step quiet and purposeful, arms and shoulders squared with weapon in hand, his eyes darting to and fro behind the dark visor of his helmet. To let his guard down now could be a mistake he wouldn't recover from, and he certainly didn't want that to happen here. Minutes pass, feeling like an tense eternity before he eased up, expelling a soft, vocabulated sigh.
"Clear." Saying the word when no one else is around to hear it had become a force of habit for the ARC Trooper – one that oddly comforted him in his newfound solitariness. "Not a soul in sight."
It was both a good and a bad thing: good because he could take some time to study the Datapoint and the walls covered in drawers before moving forward; bad because anyone (or anything) could still surprise him with their arrival if he relaxed too much.
But curiosity eventually got the best of him, and soon he made his way past the lobby after his initial surveillance, heading on up to see what else was there. And when he was through, he went back down...and toward the other building that sunk beneath the surface. To cover ground and check for any signs of life. Just in case.
A Storm
[Echo's breath hitches, audibly incredulous at what he's seeing. Maybe the HUD of his helmet is acting up, but he can't deny what's there – who's there, yards away from where he stands. The blaster, once held level, falters from its previous stance, its barrel lower yet still on point as his military composure is compromised.]
99? [That name. It's a fresh memory. A wound that still needed time to close. He nearly shakes his head.] How– no. This isn't right...
[He suddenly feels helpless, watching as the bent figure begins to hobble away further into the distance beyond. And yet, despite the fatigue weighing upon his body, his mind silently reels, trying to make sense of it all.]
This isn't right. [Repeating these words leads to the steeling of his resolve, adjusting the blaster so that he still has a grip on it. But it doesn't mean he's completely undaunted and unfazed by these strange occurrences...]
GRANHAWS
It was soon enough that the man came wandering in with a jaunty step, arms swaying this way and that in counterbalance like someone who hadn't a care in the world. Most notable would be his face, a mask of metal- or perhaps not a mask at all.
"Now leeeet's seee...." the Exo mused aloud as his glowing eyes scanned the rows of plantlife around him. "No, I do not think I am desperate enough to try stuffing cyananas in the still..."
