Summer Test Drive Meme!

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

It was in that frozen moment that Andy could watch with clarity how the skin of the Archivist's lip knits back together so much like Book's whenever she popped him in the mouth for trying her patience. She had to watch, stuck like that, eyes darting and muscles starting to ache already, on the precipice with too much adrenaline. Balance took so much more movement than she had realized. Why the fuck was she listening to this asshole? "I never dreamed of you," she growled, as though this trick wasn't enough to prove he was something else.
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (Much Doubt)

Good Lord, it works. At least as long as Jon can maintain his focus.

"Who are you?" Jon asks next, his words pointedly controlled to compel that information out of her. His following question however, lacks any compulsion. "And can you please stop hitting me?" It's more of a request and he does open the hand he had closed around her wrist to show that he mans no harm.

Though he also won't be able to keep her from moving for very much longer. He just doesn't have that energy at the moment.

Not meaning immediate harm didn't mean he hadn't already done enough, and it did fuck Andy right off that she found herself easily providing, "I don't know," when that wasn't any of the Archivist's business. "I know I'm called Andromache of Scythia. Maybe Andronika the Scythian, depending on the translation. But you can call me 'Andy'." Despite this, she still couldn't bring herself to clock Jon again, only able to move back if she was going anywhere and rolling up to her feet, both fists still clenched and dragging this flimsy excuse for Hades' rejection up with her. "You'll get over it," she said, in case he was under the impression she had missed that trick.

"A-Andromache." Jon repeats the name, a bewildered look of recognition crossing his face as she pulls him back up along with herself. So now it's characters from Greek mythology...? Though the Andromache Jon remembers certainly hasn't been wielding an axe about. At least not in the stories that focused on portraying her as the perfect wife. Unless...

"...do you know a Hector?" Well... That came out a lot less controlled than Jon would have liked. But- He's curious.

It was not obvious enough where this question came from, and Andy didn't understand where this guy got off asking so many anyway. With a shove, she pinned him back against the wall this time, arm against his throat to stop the interrogation. "You're going to start answering," she made clear for him. "Is Hector who I'm going to kill after I'm done with you?" After a beat, she allowed him a fraction of air to gather his thoughts.

The sound of surprise Jon attempts to make is cut short by her arm and ends in a miserable choking noise as he finds himself pressed against the wall at his back. Struggling against her hold with one hand returning to her arm, Jon's face contorts into another unhappy grimace. "Y-you- you're not m-married?"

No, that isn't an answer. And Jon somehow feels that he shouldn't be too surprised to potentially having encountered an Andromache that doesn't add up with the mythological version he recalls.
