Summer Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

Not here, no. And, well... when we were still in Drift Fleet, we tried to push the ships past the limit, and they threatened to self-destruct if we got too close to the edge of the range. Haven't tried it here, yet, though.
[Someone here may have been one of the pilots that made that attempt.]
no subject
[The former is more understandable, but the latter sounds like the more likely option.]
If they can remote self-destruct, hacking into their system might be tricky.

[Keith still wasn't entirely sure who was in charge... especially after they found out that Ga Re wasn't the one that was completely in control. When the singing ship core was taken from them, any hope of getting home was lost, and now Keith was worried. It was like someone else was playing with them here... someone behind a curtain.]
Though, I'm not sure it was a remote setting. I think it was just something innate in the system that got triggered when we reached a certain distance from the Marsiva. But the Marsiva isn't here, and we did manage to disable the trigger once we took control of her. I don't know what's controlling these smaller ships now without the Marsiva around.
[There were enough similarities, but Keith was keenly aware that this was definitely someone else's show now. No Atroma or whatever that weird blob thing had been... but also, it wasn't the Agrii anymore, either, was it? It was a lot to think about.]

[Pidge just needs tools. Maybe a good computer.]
Do you think whoever built these would mind if I took a deeper look into the mechanics of one of these? I want to know what we're dealing with here. If these are closer to earth technology, Galra, or Altean. Or one of the other species we've come across. It could help me figure out just what we might be dealing with.
[Not that she cares for permission. Just asking to be polite for all of five seconds. She wants to see what these ships are made of as soon as possible.]
no subject
I mean, the person who built them isn't here, so I don't think they'll really care. And I know they don't look like much... but I can say with absolute certainty that, without using that over there - [He pointed to the pilot data point.] - that the flight controls are definitely nothing I've seen before. I probably could have figured it out on a really basic level on my own, but... this is some next level stuff.
[And Keith could pilot just about anything you put him at the helm for.]
no subject
Are you able to show me the setup? Or do we have to wait for a mission for the controls to turn on?
[She wants to see some of the basics before trying to take anything apart.]
no subject
[Talk about frustrating. Getting that far had been almost cruel for a pilot with a temper like Keith.
He nodded his head for her to follow him inside the Huntress.]
This one's a little different 'cuz no one's assigned to her, yet. Not sure if that'll make a difference for the next mission.
[He brought her up to the Bridge first.]
Oh, uh... weird question, but... you don't remember getting caught in some weird storm that caused hallucinations, do you?
no subject
[Which is fine. Pidge doesn't mind it. She would just have to keep notes just in case something changed while she checked each thing.]
That makes it easier. No one needs to worry about it working in case I break something.
[That...]
No? I woke up here. Not that I went to sleep here. I was back home before I opened my eyes.
no subject
I'll care if you break something!
[Yes. Keith was kind of possessive of the Huntress, okay? But, right. That storm...]
Oh. Okay. Just wondering. Maybe it was a hallucination, too... but I was seeing a lot of people out there. [He shook his head.]
no subject
Fine. I'll try not to break anything.
[Something might still get broken. Sorry, Keith.]
Doesn't sound too weird. We've come across a lot of weird things in our time traveling through space.
no subject
Thanks. I spent a lot of time on this ship back in Drift Fleet before we ended stuck on this planet. It's... I dunno. Kind of important, I guess.
[He shrugged, playing like it wasn't as big of a deal as it was.
But that comment... yeah. He snorted a bit in mild amusement because it was true.]
Yeah... we've definitely seen some weird stuff. Even weirder if I also count my time in the Fleet and here. Is it still weird if it's kind of become normal?
[They came into the bridge now and Keith headed for the pilot's console.]
Here... this is the flight control. [It would definitely look weird and foreign, even with Pidge's experience with the Green Lion. But, Keith went over it and started things up like he'd been doing it forever.] I can only get so far, and then... nothing. But, before we were here on this planet, I had full control.
no subject
Weird is our normal. Since we left earth a few years ago, it's been one thing after another. I think our normal is pretty insane compared to everyone else.
[Oh. This was an interesting design. Hopefully Keith doesn't mind Pidge too much in his personal space as she watches him start up the system.]
Can anyone else start the ship or is it just you?
no subject
You've got a point. [He leaned back in the seat.] For this one, anyone can start it because no one's assigned to it right now. Understanding it is hard without having used the pilot datapoint in the hangar on the planet, but people can definitely poke around at it and get it to start up and run.
The only ships that are particular about who's accessing them and using them are the ones that have assigned crew.
