Summer Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

He's not terribly put off by it, to be honest. It's a known thing, for people to come and go, sometimes with no memories of their past times here. Lance has grown to accept that. Well, there's one person he'd never accept that from, but thankfully, he's been at Lance's side here the whole time.]
Ah, sorry, um. You see, you were in this universe before, or a version of you anyway. But even if you don't remember, or you're a slightly different Pidge or however this weird multiverse thing works, it doesn't matter. You're our Pidgey, and I've still missed you SO much.

I know how the multiverse works probably better than you do, but it's still hard to think about the fact that you know a different Pidge. That means you're probably not the Lance I know-know. [But that's fine. Lance is Lance.] I can tell with how you just tried to break my back.... so who else is here?
He lacks his full repitoire of products... It's tragic.
[He nods, letting out a deep breath and smiling.]
For the last year and a half or so, maybe closer to two, it's just been me and Keith. And Kosmo. And Kaltenecker. Other people from our world have been in this one, but they've all gone home bit by bit till it was just us. I was wondering if I'd ever get to see any of the rest of you again.

Sounds like you slipped into some weird time pocket... What was the last thing you remember doing before ending up here?

The very last thing I remember from back home, the last time I was back there, was beating Sendak on Earth. And that weird Altean mech. We'd just finished that fight up when I found myself back here, and I haven't gone back again since. I kind of...bounced back and forth between home and here a few times. When I was at home, I had no memory of this place, but it all came back once I was back here.
[And it's due to that lack of memory of here that kept him from going home even when he and Keith had the option to, after Drift Fleet. There's too much here that's precious to him for him to want to forget, even if he has faith it'll still work out the same one day back home.]
The first time I came here was...oh, man. Three years ago? I just basically turned 21 here, but I'm definitely a bit older, if you take into account time I spent back home in the times I was sent back. Time gets really confusing with that, so I'm just judging things by the time I'm here.

I cam here while we were rebuilding after that victory. So time wise we at least have the same memories. And if you don't remember anything when you go back, that could mean that this world is protecting itself so you don't go out and try and find it again unless it wants you back. It's hard to think of why a world would do that... Then again, we haven't come across everything the universe has to hold, so it's plausible...

It makes it easier that we share the same memories from back home. Things get...awkward if someone's from earlier or later. Spoilers and stuff, and not great if the news isn't exactly good.
[Shiro finding out about Adam, Lance learning from his sister about the war on Earth before he'd gone back and experienced it, and more. None of it had been fun.]
I'm pretty sure this world is in a completely separate dimension, and that there are plenty of alternate dimensions on top of that. People come to this world, then they go back home, then they come back-- Except they don't remember this place at all. And they might be older, or younger, or different in some other way. Like, uh... You were actually here before, back before we were on this planet. Or at least, a Pidge. So either you've lost your memories of this place, or you're just a different Pidge. Which is totally cool. Doesn't change a thing to me.

[That would be both irritating but also fascinating. Dropping spoilers for the future in hints. Talking about things dramatically someone hasn't experienced yet. Yes. Pidge would find it half fun.]
... I know you can be smart, but hearing you talk about a barely proven theory that time travel and separate dimensions like you're familiar with is is weird.

I've learned a heck of a lot over these past few years here. How to think better, how to fight better, and I've been exposed to a lot more ideas and places and people and all that.
[Lance considers himself a better person than when he first came to this universe. Not that his head was always there, or his self image, but he's gotten better.]
