Summer Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...
no subject
(That was either for the cyananas or for Cayde, but who knew)
Under the rolling commentary, the ARC Trooper looked down at his blaster, finally lowering it into a resting stance as his gaze rose to Cayde-6's level. "Uh. Thanks. But if I recall correctly, brewing alcohol was against regulations."
no subject
He hooked his thumbs into his belt as he sauntered along the plants, chuckling at the ARC Trooper's response. "Soldier," he pegged with a knowing nod. "Heh heh. Not against mine. Anyway, we're far from wherever your regulations cover, that I can assure you."
no subject
When pegged as a soldier, he shrugged, clearly not denying it. "I figured as much," he replied. "New territories usually come with a different set of rules, anyway. I guess it's hard to break old habits."
no subject
His hands were brought up in a sweeping gesture. "Well, consider yourself freed, my friend. Not much rules around here. Except the obvious, I guess. Don't kill nobody that isn't asking for it. I see they let you keep the gun." He smiled lopsidedly, giving his side holster a pat. "Heard they were bein' cautious about who-all came in with what weapons. Maybe that don't matter anymore."
no subject
Oh, but freedom? This was something he was familiar with, but never really strayed into doing very often. "Noted. Here's hoping we never get to that point," he nodded. He also glanced at Cayde's holster, a thoughtful hum emitted through the vocabulator with that in mind. "It's the only thing I have, unfortunately. There was more on me before I got here, but if they were wary about such, I wouldn't be surprised if they took it when I wasn't looking."
no subject
The black, worn grip of his handcannon could be seen, sitting snugly at his hip. "Same. Could be worse, I guess. Gotta improvise on ammo though." The Exo wagged a finger at the clone. "Oh, but you have no idea. They can be pretty sneaky. I mean, they got you here without your knowing it, right?"
no subject
"I guess you're right, though. If I had any idea of being sent here, I would've been much more prepared and they would've well enough left me alone," he added, meeting the Exo's gaze. "Has no one been able to hold onto more than one article upon arrival?"
no subject
"As far as I'm aware, not really. One thing aside from the clothes on their backs. Or armor, I guess." The tilt of his head and the parting of his metal jaws suggested a lopsided grin. "Oh, that's gonna be fun for you. Don't worry though, I think there's like. Old supply crates you can scavenge clothes from. Might have extra arms or something though- I don't think they were made with humans in mind." Given they were probably mostly Agrii-made, that would explain many a thing.
no subject
And then a beat. "Agrii are the locals here, right? Extra arms, though..." That much didn't seem to faze him, multi-armed beings. "Well, I guess adaptation is in order, if that's the case."
no subject
To the Agrii, he nodded. "Well, supposed to be, anyway. This is their world and their city. Thing is, some things happened and now there's this storm that's apparently lethal to them so they can't live here. Which is why we're here but anyway..." Waving a hand, he backtracked a bit. "Four arms, pink with three eyes and fangs, kinda moist..."

no subject
The Exo shrugged at the descriptor. "Hey, I only tell it like it is. I felt like it was safer not to ask, especially when they were being all huggy."
no subject
Followed by a more detailed response: "By figuring out the cause, then? And resolving it through whatever means necessary?"
Echo's helmet tilted back. "I'll take that as a warning," he considered, not exactly looking forward to any moist hugs any time soon.
no subject
A shrug then. "Eh, it's not all that bad. Their grasp of our language? Now that's bad. They do try though. Oh, boy do they try."
no subject
That at least earned the Exo a faint chuckle. "I think I know what you mean by that. There's plenty of alien species back at home that don't use Basic as their first language."
no subject
"Basic, that's what you call it? Hell, we just call it English. Unless we're all hearing something different. Actually there's a good question. How does a bunch of random people from different places understand each other so well and yet the ones who brought us in can hardly do so without some kind of confusion? You from Earth?"
no subject
"English, though– that's a new one," he then added, lightly tapping a gloved index finger in the space in front of him. It then led to an open palm. "I know it's been some time since I left Kamino again, but I've never heard of Earth. Is it a part of a different star system, or...something else entirely?"
no subject
"Well I definitely haven't ever heard of any place called Kamino. Probably different systems at the very least. Part of the Milky Way galaxy. Can't even guarantee we'd be from the same Earth anyway if you did say you heard of or were from it." The Exo shook his head. "It just gets a whole lot more confusing and complicated from here on out, lettin' you know now."
