Summer Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...
Pidge Gunderson | Voltron: Legendary Defender
[Getting the lay of the land was always important when stranded in a brand new place. Pidge doesn't mind the foot work too much... it was the infrastructure of this whole place that just seemed to scream "In need of serious TLC".
The hotel is avoided for the moment, but her feet find her anywhere else safe to walk around.]

This tech is a bit primitive... Does anyone know who works on the UI? I have some suggestions.
[Mostly the spelling errors. They were amusing for maybe five minutes, and now it's just sad.]

Exploring!
He's on his way to do a little bit of scavenging, maybe catch a few fish for dinner, when he notices a small figure wandering nearby. The group here isn't terribly large and he knows most people, but this person doesn't look like one he's seen here yet. New arrival maybe? He's not close enough to see for sure, but hey, heck if he isn't gonna try to be the best welcome wagon he can.
When he gets close enough to get a better look at them, Lance stops in his tracks. Blinks. Rubs his eyes. He...has to be seeing things, yeah? Must be. It's been over a year, longer even, since he's seen anyone from his own world aside from Keith. Sometimes he thinks he'll see them again out of the corner of his eye, but it's always gone in an instant, wishful thinking. But as he begins moving again, taking careful steps, the person doesn't disappear from his vision.]
P....Pidge...?
[His voice isn't loud when he calls out, more hesitant than anything, still unsure if he's really seeing her.]
no subject
It's an all too familiar voice that pulls her out of those thoughts and make her whip her head around towards the source. Sure enough, Pidge wasn't hearing things. She grins and starts heading over. Faster than intended, though she takes a moment to get another good look around. Just to make sure there wouldn't be an interruption of the Galra kind or other.]
Lance! You're here, too? [She only sees Lance at the moment...] Where's the others? Did we all get stuck here? Have you seen the Lions? I can't feel Green anywhere.
We used to have a Pidge back in DF so he will be confused for just a moment
She's real.]
PIDGE! Holy quiznak, oh my god, it's you, it's really you! Do you know how long it's been for us? I haven't seen you since the Fleet! Oh my god, I've missed you, Keith's gonna flip too!
oh no poor lance
L-Lance... what are you talking about? I saw you right before I got to this place. The only Fleet I know of is the Galra one.
Lance just turned 21 here so he might look a lil bit older to her! Not by a lot but
He's not terribly put off by it, to be honest. It's a known thing, for people to come and go, sometimes with no memories of their past times here. Lance has grown to accept that. Well, there's one person he'd never accept that from, but thankfully, he's been at Lance's side here the whole time.]
Ah, sorry, um. You see, you were in this universe before, or a version of you anyway. But even if you don't remember, or you're a slightly different Pidge or however this weird multiverse thing works, it doesn't matter. You're our Pidgey, and I've still missed you SO much.
Lance is capable of aging? Not with his skin care routine
I know how the multiverse works probably better than you do, but it's still hard to think about the fact that you know a different Pidge. That means you're probably not the Lance I know-know. [But that's fine. Lance is Lance.] I can tell with how you just tried to break my back.... so who else is here?
He lacks his full repitoire of products... It's tragic.
[He nods, letting out a deep breath and smiling.]
For the last year and a half or so, maybe closer to two, it's just been me and Keith. And Kosmo. And Kaltenecker. Other people from our world have been in this one, but they've all gone home bit by bit till it was just us. I was wondering if I'd ever get to see any of the rest of you again.

Exploring - Library
It's from between two of those shelves that the Archivist emerges, fiddling with an old tape recorder and muttering to himself until he looks up and at his visitor, not appearing too surprised, at least. ]
Hello. I don't think we have met.
[ It's not a question but rather him stating a simple fact. ]
no subject
Except it's practically empty. What a way for a heart to sink. She sighs to herself before a voice draws her attention.]
Nope. I just got here.
no subject
But those musings aren't important at the moment and Jon tilts his head at the young woman to offer a more appropriate greeting. ]
Jonathan Sims. I... I assume the data point provided you with the basics of your presence here.
[ Again, not a question. Though there are plenty Jon could be asking. Questions she couldn't answer, however. ]
no subject
[But that might be getting ahead of herself a little. Pidge just sighs softly and takes a look once more around the library.]
I'm assuming what I saw from the data point that we're here to fix things. I guess my question would be is where should I start? There's a lot I know how to do that could help.

Exploring - Hangar
With them recently having gotten a few additional ships, Keith was actually checking on the status of the Huntress. No one was assigned to it, yet, and he hadn't been neglecting the Bloodsport, which was his assigned ship, but the Huntress meant something to him. It was the only ship in Drift Fleet he'd been assigned to, and he'd ended up assigned as Captain by the time they freed the Marsiva. Plus, he and Lance had spent a lot of time on that ship together. She meant something to him.
He heard footsteps enter the hangar somewhat tentatively. Most of the people that came in here often came in here with a purpose, so it got his curiosity piqued, and he leaned out of the hatch he was poking around in to see who it was......]
Pidge?
[He'd run into her once before on this planet, but it was during one of those hallucination storms, so he wasn't even sure if she'd really been here. Beyond that, he hadn't seen her since Drift Fleet. But, he also wasn't sure if the Pidge standing in front of him was the Pidge from Drift Fleet, or even any version of Pidge he'd known so far...
Heck, she might even be calling herself Katie.
He hesitated for a second and then climbed out of the hatch to go meet her.]
no subject
She's assessing the state of the ships from the outside when she hears someone say her name. A voice she knows.]
Keith! [Oh good. A friendly face was needed in a place like this.
Her eyes drift back to the ships.]
Do any of them run?
no subject
They do, but there's a catch.
[He frowned a bit.]
We can't take them very far. There's a limit, and we can only go past that limit when whoever's in charge of this place wants us to go on a mission... and then, they kind of force us to follow a certain route.
[Keith looked annoyed at that.]
But, yeah. They work... in the most basic way possible.
no subject
And no one has figured out how to reprogram it to make it possible to go off course? That's gotta be a pretty powerful program if that's the case.
[Sounds like a challenge to her.]
When you say limit, do you mean like a barrier or the ships not reacting past a specific point?
no subject
Not here, no. And, well... when we were still in Drift Fleet, we tried to push the ships past the limit, and they threatened to self-destruct if we got too close to the edge of the range. Haven't tried it here, yet, though.
[Someone here may have been one of the pilots that made that attempt.]
no subject
[The former is more understandable, but the latter sounds like the more likely option.]
If they can remote self-destruct, hacking into their system might be tricky.
