Summer Test Drive Meme!
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.
- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...
- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.
- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.
- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...
Nathanos Blightcaller || WoW
HuntingExploringApparently he will be a Beastmaster for the time being.
It's late in the night and dark out when the Forsaken notices another person not too far away. In theory they shouldn't be seeing him as he sends one of his monstrous bugs forward to investigate - And if necessary attack.
Network
Hrmph. So I noticed that the entire lot of you imbeciles hasn't even managed to set up a proper base yet. Despite some of you having been here for months. And I doubt there exists a plan for how any of you wish to proceed. How... Pathetic.
Have any of you simpletons ever even built a city?
Exploring
Cloud had tried to ask the replicator for a baseball bat. Where did his luck go? He knows where it went but he's not going to complain about it. Cloud will continue moving forward the best he could. But what does stop him is the monstrous bug coming forward seemingly out of no where.
"Uh..." He presses his lips together while putting his hands up with his palms facing forward. Maybe he might look not threatening. "Good bug?" Stupid for trying to talk to a bug. Cloud knows he might look crazy but he doesn't really care. If the bug seems to want to attack him then he might have to get a little threatening back at it.
no subject
What's more curious however, is that this human makes no attempt to fight the bug.
Without a word, Nathanos sends the second bug forward as well to join its partner and assume the very same posture yet neither of them attacking. Will the boy feel the need to fight them now?
no subject
A second one comes along and gets into the same hissing kind of posture as the first bug. Cloud takes another step back while watching them closely. Are they going to make the first move?
"Are you going to bark at me all day or are you going to start biting? What fancy moves do you bugs got? Am I going to be working up a sweat?" He raises an eyebrow. He hasn't even started fighting and he's cocky already by them trying to be intimidating. Cloud's not going to make the first move yet, he needed to know just how threatening they were going to be. He was not armed at all so he's taking a risk just to fight bugs if he needs. The monsters from his world would have already been on him. Are these monsters going to do same?
no subject
He's tall, wearing a rather heavy looking set of mail- and leather-armor and both bugs instantly lower their postures, ceasing any behavior meant to be intimidating.
"Now what am I going to do with you..." Nathanos contemplates aloud and crosses his arms while glowing eyes scrutinize the young man.
no subject
It's not really that strange or surprising to him. If anything he's wondering if the undead had always been here or was like the rest of them, kidnapped by the Agrii and brought here to help.
"I don't know. Why don't you tell me?" Cloud puts a hand on his hip and with the other hand he makes an open hand gesture.
no subject
“How about I just kill you? That’s always an option. Even though you don’t strike me as Alliance.” But does it really matter? Hardly. On the other hand it might be foolish to simply murder this one. There aren’t many people in this city after all. Nathanos has already confirmed as much.
“Tell me who you are. And why I should spare you.”
no subject
"Alliance? There's no organization or group that goes by that here." He tilts his head wondering if that will hold any meaning for others from his world that might come here. Cloud loosely crosses his arms against his chest.
"Cloud Strife. I was brought to this planet by the Agrii. Assessing the situation isn't always a bad thing." He could easily fight if needed but he knew it would be unwise without a weapon. Cloud could get overpowered by three. Numbers were against him but he's been out numbered before. Fleeing would be the best option in this case. "And you are?"
no subject
The bugs make not much of a move at the moment aside from a few clicking noises and scuttling a little in place.
Nathanos makes a short noise of acknowledgement for the answer before responding himself. "Nathanos Blightcaller. And it appears I get to claim this territory in the name of the Horde." If the past is anything to go by, this place will be swarming with so-called heroes from both Horde and Alliance soon enough. Curious to find that he is getting a head-start in this area. Maybe some Alliance fool has been dropped off on the other side of... Whatever this place is.
no subject
Cloud watches the bugs while keeping to their sounds. His senses would stay sharp as he focuses back on Nathanos. "Nathanos Blightcaller of the Horde?" Did he hear that right? He frowns while shaking his head at this claiming territory. Cloud stays where he is not coming close or making any move to flee. He keeps his eyes on Nathanos while waiting to see what the other might do or say next.
no subject
"Now who is in charge of this pitiful place?"
no subject
"If you suddenly try to claim leadership I'll be walking away." Since he'll have enough of this conversation at that point. Cloud already feels the need to be evasive. "We all have our own shit to deal with. What do you plan on doing?"
no subject
"I see no one doing any of this rebuilding you mention. How many people are there supposed to be here?" So far he has been looking around in some places, but hasn't encountered much worth of note.
no subject
He sighs while looking at the Forsaken. "Some people are trying to figure out what building is what before putting in the work. I only know twelve names but there's more people than that here. I don't know where you're getting supposed to be."
no subject
"And here I thought I did a pretty good clean up job."
The figure's already got another knife in hand, tossing it in preparation of following through with another attack. The strange glowing blue gaze is the easiest thing to make out from the shadows, save for the amber light that spills out when the Exo speaks.
Ranger, meet Hunter.
no subject
“Not bad.” He grumbles and raises his free hand halfway, a green light glowing briefly in his palm and the dead bug near the Exo twitches as it returns to life with a dull shriek before scuttling back to its master who is more fixed on figuring out this new opponent. Mechanical, yes. But not one of those atrocities found on Mechagon.
He raises his ace before him, assuming a stance that can be used for defense as well as offense if needed. “So you can talk. Which doesn’t mean I won’t kill you if needed. You will answer me some questions.”
no subject
His head cocks as he watches, brow arching at the eerily familiar green glow. Hive? When the dead bug once again moves, he takes a step back, and this time his hand cannon's snapped into position, the only thing staying his trigger-finger being the disturbed curiosity as the bug goes back to the shadowed stranger. What the hell?
"Oh, well that's thoughtful of you," the Hunter Vanguard replies, casual despite having his weapon still out, still ready. He'd be foolish not to. "How 'bout you answer me some questions instead? Also, your taste in pets is kinda lacking."
no subject
"They took my hounds. These will... Suffice. For now." He offers, then lowers his weapon as he tips back his head and straightens his posture. An acknowledgement. And a more direct offer, "We may trade information."
no subject
"I'll tell you straight up, I won't be the first one to try splattering the things, 'specially if others see 'em around here." Friendly warning? Nah, just fact. Cayde would probably kill them on sight again next chance he gets.
Seeing the other lower his weapon, the Exo doesn't immediately reciprocate, but he eventually lowers his gun, flipping it about before holstering it. He needs it, it'll be out again at a moment's notice. "Okay, fair. You're obviously new here. I'll let you go first."
no subject
Now with neither of his two pets around, Nathanos puts his free hand on his hip and casts his grim glare on the hunter before him. "Well then. Tell me who you are - And if you have heard of any members of either the Alliance or the Horde to be present on this world."
Because that's usually how it goes, right? Some heroes are pulled into another world and he gets to pick up after them.
no subject
"That's a two-fer but since it's easy, I'll give it to you," he replies, shrugging. "Me? I'm Cayde-Six. As to any alliances or horde, I'm gonna say no as I assume those are with capital A's and H's. 'specially ain't seen anyone looking similar to your pretty face."
Now he's just messing around. "All right, my turn. Who and what are you?" Seems he's not afraid to beat around the bush, but beings who bring back bugs from the dead are not something to be brushed off.
no subject
The response he receives gets a raised eyebrow in return, but no real reaction to the little jab Cayde adds at the end.
"Nathanos Blightcaller." He replies, instead. That would be the who. As for the what... Well. "I am a member of the Forsaken. The undead of Azeroth that broke free of the Lich King's hold and fought for their freedom." There is a certain pride in those words, before he turns them around. "What about you?"
no subject
Cayde folds his arms, his jaw quirking as he mouths 'Blightcaller', seeming amused. Now there's a name if ever there was one. "Forsaken, undead, huh? Iiiinteresting," he says, stroking his chin with a gloved hand. Well, that means they're two undead guys, technically. Cayde would still think he's better looking.
"I'm an Exo, Guardian and Hunter Vanguard of the Last City." He feels like he needs to add in a title. Exos don't really have a whole lot to add onto it, and explaining them just seems tedious.
"So you're the Agrii's latest 'he-row' acquisition, eh?" he muses, bringing his hands up to fold his fingers into quotes with the whole hero business. "Your first time bein' offworld outside of home?"
