Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found here.

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

[ he smirks. ]

Of course.

Do you have a plan?

[sinistral]

Right now? Gathering what I can in information and supplies. Making a defensible space to use as a home base.

[All behaviors Loki might expect, given the life they've led since leaving the Fleet. He's too little of both to make a move against anything yet, so preparations it is.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ that's wise. he didn't expect leaps and bounds from a few days. with the atroma, it's best to manage expectations. loki moves closer to him, voice pitched low. ]

Are you all right?

[sinistral]

[He turns a little more toward Loki, his own tone similarly lowered. There appears to be no one within eavesdropping range, but he still doesn't trust this place that much.]

I was concerned, when I discovered we'd been separated.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki telegraphs his movements, his hands cradling bucky's jaw, thumbs smoothing over his cheeks. loki considers asking if he doubted loki, if he thought loki would let him go.

he doesn't say that. ]

I am here.

[sinistral]

[Touching is still a thing he approaches cautiously, but with Loki it has become almost normal: a part of their lives, a part of the life they've had since leaving the Fleet. As such he welcomes the touch, leans into it, eyes on the other man's.]

I hate only that you're trapped now with me. A cage suits you not.

[He never doubted for a moment.]

[dothelokimotion]

It doesn't suit either of us.

[ and it's unfair that they're caught in one all over again. loki sighs. ]

But we will pull it apart.

[sinistral]

From the inside.

[As opposed to one of them outside this place, breaking in. Still, they will make it work.]

As much as I didn't want them to get you, I am glad that we're together.

[dothelokimotion]

[ his lips curve upwards. ]

That's quite the admission.

[sinistral]

Does it surprise you so?

[The sentiment, or the fact that he's expressed it?]

[dothelokimotion]

No. But it rings in my ears nicely.

[ his thumb strokes the edges of bucky's face before he pulls back. ]

[sinistral]

Never doubt the esteem I have for you.

[The feelings between them, ones undefined by words but important nonetheless.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ never doubt. the corners of his eyes crinkle. ]

How could I?

[sinistral]

I would seek to prove it to you over and over until you'd lost all recollection of the meaning of doubt.

[He reaches out, finds Loki's hand with his human one, twines the fingers together.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ doubt truth to be a liar. loki brings their twined hands up to press his cheek against it. a part of him trembles at that admission. loki has held doubt in his heart for so long, he can't imagine letting it go.

bucky's fingers are warm. it spreads. loki breathes it in. ]

I would never let you go.

[sinistral]

Nor I, you. Not willingly.

[His thumb uncurls from their clasped hands, strokes lightly over Loki's cheek.]

You're still so warm to me.

[dothelokimotion]

[ his eyelashes flutter at that. no one else would say so. no one else would think loki is warm. satisfaction is not in his nature and loki always seek to have more, yearn for more until the crevasses in his heart have been filled.

but the urge to take, to keep, to dig his fingers in so deep, he leaves marks in his wake . . . is no longer there. ]

Then don't let me go. Not ever.

[ forever. ]

[sinistral]

I promise. To the extent of my ability, and beyond that if necessary.

[A promise he doesn't make lightly, and knows that if anyone can feel its weight, it's Loki.]

Will you come see the space I've started to carve out?

[dothelokimotion]

[ the promise is not a weight or a burden. he can see that in bucky's eyes. reluctantly, though he presses a small kiss to bucky's thumb, loki pulls back. ]

Please. I would like to see it.

[sinistral]

It's not much— [as if Loki needs that warning, given the state of the planet in general] —but it at least affords some privacy to continue our reunion.

[A space he'd started to customize for his exclusive use, and one he does not allow others to enter. But Loki hardly falls into the same category as everyone else.]

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki nods, glancing at this place. ]

The planet does seem to afford more privacy.

[sinistral]

It appears that way, doesn't it?

[He tugs lightly with their still-joined hands, leading Loki in the direction of what he's attempting to turn into housing. It's as broken as the rest of the city but it has a roof, and he's been working on doors.]

I don't know that I trust it entirely; the Atroma could observe us almost everywhere, could they not? I've seen no evidence to suggest that these Agrii can... but no evidence to suggest that they can't, either.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki hums. it is a valid point. ]

I could set up some illusions. It might help with anyone . . . watching.

[sinistral]

It’s served us well in the past, has it not?

[Loki’s magic is always a source of wonderment.]

Not always, but it cannot hurt either.
