[EVENT] The Horror Storm
Hello, heroes! We hope you've been enjoying your leisurely trip home, exploring and relaxing and doing whatever else your hearts desire.
But, as we all know, vacations must come to an end, and journeys home must end at... well. Home. Which is exactly where you'll find yourself, starting October 14
It’s been a while. For some of you, seeing Agra 10 come into view might be a welcome sight. For others of you, maybe you’re dreading setting foot on that planet again. Either way, it looms in the distance, getting ever closer as your ships approach. Once you’re a little more distant than Agra’s closest moon, the Agrii ship stops. They're too concerned to get any closer. This is the end of their approach but they promise not to leave. After what they’ve been through, they prefer to stay close to their Heroes. Indeed, they invite you to come and visit whenever you please.
But, as it should be clear, now, they are not the ones pulling all the strings.
In the morning, anyone not on their shuttle already will find themselves compelled back into it. It’s time to go home, the force seems to say.
Time for the show to go on.
The shuttles will take off, ferrying everyone back to Agra 10 without the ability to be redirected. A pilot might be able to adjust the speed, but that is it. Until you break the atmosphere, of course. From space, you might have seen some swirling clouds and arcing lightning over the area of Temba. Once you’re closer, however, you don’t need to see anything to know what is going on. You’ll be able to feel it as your powers (if you have any) seem to ebb and flow, flickering like a lightbulb not fully screwed in. Your body shivers with a sudden sense of foreboding and a bone-deep weakness comes in waves, on and off, the closer to the capital you get. Your shuttle shakes in harsh winds. The systems flicker and sound alarms as the whole thing bounces, trying to stay aloft. It’s in vain. The computers all go out even as you look at them or try to keep them online. Your shuttle plummets down, buffeted by wind before skidding to a stop in the depths of the forest outside Temba.
The door opens, letting in harsh wind and rain and the sound of thunder. And... wailing?
It’s an Energy Storm. A bad one, too. And your only options now are to stay in your shuttle and wait it out or to go out into it to get back to the shelter of the city. Of course, no matter what you pick, you know these storms are not simply weather. And, unlike the first one, this one brings terror.
Just like the last one, apparitions flicker in and out of your view. Sometimes they are people you know. Sometimes they might be someone you’ve lost. Either way, these ghosts of your and your friends’ past are not here to comfort you. They look wrong. Accusing, perhaps. Angry. Cruel. They might whisper things to you. Unkind words designed to have you follow them off into the dark. They might beg for you to come to them. But no matter what they do or say, they are not real. They are just illusions. Illusions that seem hellbent on walking you off a cliff or into sinking ground. Do not heed them!
But surely that is the worst of it, yes? You are already experiencing issues either with your powers or with just your regular constitution waning low. You are weakened and getting hit with rain and wind while having lost loved ones trying to bring you to harm. Surely that is it, right?
Not this time.
The closer you get to Temba, the more reality seems to come undone. The storm tears down what you see and instead, just like with the apparitions, it seems to reach into your mind and find the thing you are scared of most. The room you enter into might suddenly no longer be your shelter and instead a slowly-shrinking box. Your friend beside you might look over to see you fighting with bugs that have appeared out of nowhere, attacking you. The mortal enemy you haven’t seen in years could be waiting for you around a corner. Again, none of it is real. All of it is illusion. But the mind is a funny thing; something doesn’t have to be real to feel like it is. Does it?
The situation is grim, you see. The storm alone was dangerous enough but with all of these effects? How are you expected to get through it?
Have no fear, Heroes. The Agrii are here. And they are going to be doing all they can.
Boxes of supplies both medically and emotionally helpful will be appearing along the way. Did Ga Re really just send you a ‘Hang In There’ poster with a cat on a branch? Yep. Sure did. But she also sent you bandages and a bunch of food. It might not be much, but it is something.
Not only that but, to combat all the illusions, the Agrii have done their research on comforting people and are pulling out the stops. He Row Soup Lies is finally living up to its name: going in there, you will find a full soup kitchen with... well... look. They tried. The soups are more like salty-flavored drinks with chunks of things in them that you probably don’t want to identify. But alongside them they somehow managed to figure out hot chocolate and a passable cider. Watch out on that last one, though: there are definitely some intoxicating red berries in it.
There are blankets and strange looking stuffed… animals? Maybe? And with all of these things, the Soup Lies building is a good place to hide away from the storm or to at least take a break from it. You feel a little stronger there and the weird soups seem to fortify you both with courage and with health. This seems to be the place for a respite from this mess. Stay as long as you need to. But keep in mind that people you care about might still be outside, fighting their fears.
The choice for what to do next, as always, is up to you.
OOC INFO AND FAQ
I CRASHED?!
Yep. Your character might have gotten a little scraped up but you should be okay. The shuttle however will be nonoperational for the whole event.
What if I want to opt out?
You have two opt out locations: your shuttle or the He Row Soup Lies. Both will be very, very shielded from the storm.
Do other people see the illusions I am seeing?
Yes! They do! They will see everything you see. It’s a little like Calibrations in that way where the illusions are real and visible by anyone in the area. They just will stem from one mind - e.g., Tony’s illusions can be seen by Raphael and Cloud but their own illusions won’t interfere with it.
The Agrii are watching us again?
Yes. Hero Control started becoming operational once you all left, so they are able to watch and assist as much as possible.
So can we ask He Row Soup Lies for something?
Go for it! They’re getting marginally better at it!
What about the replicator?
Oh. You remembered that? Yeah, it’s still broken. Let us know if you want to work on repairing it, though. It can be fixed but there may be consequences...
The Horror Storm event will run from October 14 - November 11. Additionally, we are reducing AC for October, hopefully to reduce stress. All characters need to make a minimum of ONE TAG ONLY for the entire month to pass AC. (Of course, you are welcome to do more/play as usual!) As always, if this isn't possible, you can hiatus, take a strike, or reach out to a mod. We're here to work with you!

Two Questions
2. The big one. How are constructs created from powers affected by the storms? Specifically, Mini-C. He is a multi-construct of:
a) Stuffed Animal Body created by Billy's magic as a Carnival Prize,
b) Inspired Connection formed by Reeve's magic, that if Reeve broke the spell or body was destroyed, would have the essence of Mini-C return to Reeve's magic but be able to be given a new body later, and
c) Mind/Soul as a magical essence, which itself could be destroyed
This basically sums up of what, if anything, survives the storm. The combinations I can foresee are these:
i) Mini's magically created body is destroyed and his personality/memories/essence is returned to Reeve until Reeve finds/makes a new body
ii) Mini's magically created body survives and his personality/memories/essence is returned to Reeve to be restored to the body after the storm passes
iii) Mini's magically created body survives and his personality/memories/essence is destroyed, meaning a new Inspire makes a whole new personality
iv) Mini's magically created body is destroyed and his personality/memories/essence is destroyed, meaning there is nothing of Mini-C left at all.
I am okay with any result, but do want mod-input on which one (or two?) is most likely, or if something else entirely is.
There is no rush on this, I won't be able to get Reeve ready for starters for a bit.

2) The storm will impact organic matter and the power going in and out of it. If there is no organic matter in the stuffed toy it should be fine.

...mostly asking for when I'm intro-ing Loki at the beginning of November and therefore right in the middle of the storm.
Not so much a question but

ME AGAIN
Also just wanting to know in general since some chars will probably be looking into seeing what all might be damaged and maybe attempt to (and I'm assuming fail) to fix.
