WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME

WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Explore the city!
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

"Never seen an ocean before, eh?" Seemed like a fair guess, and not terribly unusual considering the different worlds out there. "At least there's land here. Back where I'm from there's an entire moon that's just ocean. Gotta take extra care getting around there when all there is to stand on are rusting platforms and rigs."
He waved a hand. That was neither here nor now. "This here's the city of Temba, or what's left of it. We're on a world called Agra Ten, home to the Agrii- whom by the way you won't find any of planetside. Part of the reason we're here." The Exo shrugged, yet managed to give a smirk. "We're all pretty lost considering most of us have no idea what system or universe or what-have-you we're in."
no subject
He turned away from the water and looked around the crumbling city. None of the names were familiar to him but he didn't know a lot of star maps. It was troubling but he focused on the here and now. The rest he could worry about on his own time.
"Cobb Vanth," he said as he offered a hand. "Marshal of Mos Pelgo, though I guess that's on hold for the moment."
There were other people here. He could take a little comfort in that. While he could survive on his own, it would be easier with people to take up with.
no subject
The Exo turned to face the man, giving a better glimpse of the over-sized pistol holstered at his right as he brought up his hand in turn to shake the one offered him. His movements were on par with anything organic, more fluid than one would expect of droids. "Cayde, Hunter Vanguard of the Last City- but like you said. No point in titles around here." He grinned.
no subject
Odd name for a droid though. Even one as advanced as Cayde. He seemed very human which was different.
"I think I've seen enough. It's not going anywhere." Cobb paused for a moment. "Is it?"
Could that much water just vanish? He hoped not. "Is there a bar around here that takes galactic credits? I'll buy a drink and ask you more questions about this place."
no subject
His expression brightened then, both in the literal and figurative sense. "Why there does happen to be a bar in town. Just opened a while back, owner's a great guy, handsome to boot."
He spun about and gestured back towards the city proper. "This way, my friend."
no subject
"Yeah? Well I guess this place is civilized after all." Because clearly the mark of civilization is a bar. "Don't suppose this place has spotchka?"
The alcohol was common on Tatooine but this place, who knew? Cobb wanted something a little bit familiar just to settle his nerves a little bit. Cobb fell into step with Cayde, still looking around to get a general layout of the city.
no subject
"Spotchka? Gotta admit, that's a new one to me. The local specialty's basically straight from a fruit- but don't let it fool you. Watched some kid get drunk just snacking on raw berries. Got some off-world selections, but given I can count the times we've been let off-world, our stock's limited."
The city was largely dilapidated, the roads no exception although they're at least still obvious enough to follow. Cayde tried to point out some of the notable places as they went, general locations before finally leading the way up into one of the old buildings.
no subject
A fruit based alcohol sounded a little sweet but Cobb would take any port in a sandstorm. "I'll get a taste of something different then."
The tour wasn't much but he appreciated it all the same. Even though this city sprawled the livable parts weren't much bigger that Mos Pelgo. Alright, maybe he could adjust to this.
no subject
He made a point of showing the tablet they'd been provided with, bringing up the map of the city if only to give a quick rundown of the most frequented places, which amounted to the city's square.
"Ah, here we are," Cayde said as they reached one of the upper floors of the building, stepping into the bar before turning on his heel with his arms out in flourish. The windows that would normally open up to the enclosed courtyard flanked by several other buildings besides the one they were in instead showed nothing but water and what strange aquatic life had taken up residence in the lake that had formed over the years, the light filtered through bathing the bar in a faint blue. Cayde sauntered over to the bar counter, sliding behind it with a lopsided grin. "Welcome to the Deep End."
no subject
And then he realized the bar was underwater? But they had gone up stairs? He almost rested his hand on his blaster just for the sense of comfort. Underwater and... were those fish? Whatever they were it made him just a little uneasy.
"You built your bar underwater?" Cobb was willing to make that assumption. Cayde stood behind the bar like he owned it. That offhand comment about the owner being handsome wasn't as offhand as he thought apparently. "We are underwater right? That's not a trick?"
He gestured to the window.
no subject
He arched a metal brow in amusement as he watched Cobb tense at the surroundings. Right, fish out of water.
"Not exactly," he assured. "Just that side of the building. There's four of 'em set close together and I guess over the years and the storms that've come through, the water just started gathering up in the middle of them until it made a lake. Most of the lower floors of the building are water-damaged, but up here didn't suffer as much." The Exo leaned against the counter. "I figured it'd make for an interesting setting. Plus? It's got a built in aquarium!"
no subject
"That is not terribly reassuring." However, Cobb went to the bar. He sat down at a stool and did the best he could to pretend there wasn't a wall of water on one side.
With easy charm he grinned at Cayde as he leaned forward slightly. "Alright, bartender, what do ya recommend for an out of towner a little down on his luck?"
no subject
Getting back to business was easy enough, and with a nod, he ducked down to grab a couple of glasses from below the counter before turning to pick a out a few bottles from the shelf behind him. "So here we have the local special. On the tangy side, but it hits hard. Not recommended for lightweights. Also makes great molotov cocktails."
He moved his hand from the bottle of red liquid to the next. "But I think this one's a better welcome wagon," he opted, picking up and removing the stopper with a satisfying *fump*. He tipped the darker liquid into a glass, sliding it over to Cobb.
no subject
"I'll have to try that one next time." He was no lightweight when it came to drinking but he wanted his wits sharp in this strange new place. The heavy drinking would have to wait.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a few galactic credits. They were chips, literally somewhat large data chips that acted as currency in his part of the world. "What's a new comer like me have to do around town to settle in?"
He'd ask about coming home in a minute.
no subject
"Oh, not anything drastic. Pretty straight forward- figure out a place to stay, lend a hand as you can. There's an old hotel out in the town center that's got some rooms ready for people to use, and if you'd rather find your own place then that's fine too. Most buildings are free to claim so long as no one else's using it."
no subject
It was like any other new town then. Find a place and make himself useful. "Alright, not a hard thing to do. Guess I'll check out that hotel after this pleasant chat and friendly drink."
He figured a few days there before he found himself a place and then he'd figure out how to make himself useful around town.
no subject
He tossed his own drink back; it was easier to take in one go than to make a mess sipping when you didn't have lips. "One step at a time, my friend. Sounds like a good plan."
no subject
He'd have to take another look around and not get distracted by the water.
"I've never met a droid - sorry, exo - that can drink." Cobb was mostly ambivalent about droids. Except when they were valued more than him back in the early days. Cayde, though, was clearly something more than a droid.
no subject
His metal jaw quirked in a lopsided grin at Cobb then. "I enjoy a nice bowl of ramen too. Don't ask me how, either. Might sound strange but Exos don't even know how they work. But hey, I figure so long as I'm still kicking by the end of the day, I'm good."
no subject
It was how he thought for the last few years. It would be a hard habit to break.
"I don't know what ramen is." Cobb easily smiled back. Cayde's friendly, easy going nature was definitely helping him feel more at ease. "Sounds like a food. I'm guessing it's not a struggle to survive on this planet."
no subject
"You don't? Oh, you're missing out. You like spicy food? The particular bowl I've been craving's got a great kick. It's a soup of sorts, with these skinny, curly noodles, topped with different things. Good stuff. Been trying to figure out how to recreate it here, but I'm not exactly a cook."
He shrugged. "We're not hurting for supplies, but things could be better. There's some flavored food goo readily available, there's a greenhouse with a bunch of strange fruits and vegetables, there's critters that can be hunted. Takes some extra work is all, readjusting for some."
no subject
A farm and hunting, providing for the town sounded like a good way to make himself useful. If there was nothing else he found more suited to his skills. He really had no idea how to farm.
"I can cook a little," he mused. "Might be able to help you figure it out. Since I'm gonna be stuck here awhile."
no subject
As Cobb considered his options, the Exo nodded, even as he reached over to top off the man's glass. "Well, there'll be plenty of time for experimenting. We also got a diner over by the town square and a kid who's been trying to run it single-handedly. Maybe he'll be open to an extra hand."
no subject
"I'll add it to the list of places to investigate." Cobb should get out of the bar and actually look around town but well, Cayde had topped off his drink and it would be rude if it didn't finish it.
He tossed another few credits on the bar too.
no subject
"And if you got any more questions that come up or just need a hand with something, you can just ask around. No need to be a stranger," he advised. They all started off on the same foot and there wasn't any point in not returning favors.
