This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Hot Summer Time!

Summer has arrived and you know what that means: It's time to head out and spend some time at the beach, lounging on its bluish, almost purple sand, going for a swim or gathering some of the fat, green lobsters just wandering around the beach. They may be tasty, but remember that their pinch is toxic. It won’t kill you but it will definitely have the pinched body part swelling up and itching like a bad wool sweater.

If hunting for food isn't what you came here for, then sunbathing is always an option. Even if the color seems odd, this sand, also, likes to go literally everywhere.

Simply hopping into the water is also rarely a bad idea. This close to the coast there are no harmful creatures in the water, so whether you brought a swim suit, hop in fully clothed or have no care in the world about who might stumble over you naked, Agra 10's ocean is yours to play in.

Explore the city!

Here's a map and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!

That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar - Or what remains of them. It's painfully obvious that these ships have crash-landed not too long ago and were taken back to the hangar for repairs. You were assigned to one of them and its doors will open for you and let you enter if you wish. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but as neither of them look as if they will be leaving anytime soon that doesn't really matter either way.

Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?

Try the network!

Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Wildcard!

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

[Oh, crap, this poor person clearly has no idea how to work this. And texting is clearly not the way to help, so Kyle switches to video feed.]

Hello? Can you hear me? If you press the net button there, the blue-y one? You can switch to video or audio!

[ Alberto drops the communicator when the video turns on as if he's been burned, more startled than scared. Ohhh this thing has moving pictures in it? Like a tv then. ]

I can hear you! [ He says out loud...so Kyle can't really hear him back, because he has yet to press the button. He peers down at the screen with a little frown and starts poking it with a finger, eventually hitting the blue button. Yes! He did it. Kyle gets a wonderful view of...a stranger kid's face with big green eyes, upside down. Alberto's quick to hold up the screen again, and then turn it around into the right position. ]

I thought the tv was one way only...

[Oh, it's a kid! That explains a lot. Kyle smiles and waves - he likes kids.]

It usually is, this is a little bit different. Like a phone, just with video. You're okay, kid? You must have just got here.

Ah, of course. [ He's 14 years old, so pretty much still a kid. And while he's pretty sociable, he much prefers face-to-face interactions. They don't have this sort of fancy tech where he comes from, much less underwater. ]

Yeah, I'm okay. I got the explanation and everything after touching that glowing pearl thing. [ And if the look on his face is any indication, he only understood half of it, and the parts he understood sounded crazy. But he's rolling with it because what else can he do, really? Alberto is not the sort of person who worries too much about things he can not change, gotta soldier on. When he speaks again, some words are said in a noticeable Italian accent. ]

My name is Alberto Scorfano, piacere di conoscerti. Do you know where I can find a phone? A normal one without moving pictures or weird buttons. I don't think Luca has one of these. I need to tell him and Massimo where I am.

Okay, dope.

I'm Kyle Broflovski. Uh, I suck, sorry I totally don't speak Italian.

Dude, I'm sorry, but we can't reach anybody not on the planet.

Ah, that meant 'nice to meet you', Kyle. I thought everyone spoke Italian.

No? But maybe he is on the planet too. How are we supposed to know for sure?

Maybe everybody else does.

He'd have one of these communicators too. So if he does, his will go off and he can find you. There's a big chance it's just you, though. Which is not good news to hear, sorry.

I could teach you a few words if you want, I'm totally an expert.

[ No, he's not. As for the news, they really aren't something Alberto wanted to hear, and it shows in the way he almost winces. After a second, the expression morphs into a mix of defeated and resigned because, of course, this is just how his life always goes. ]

Do you think he could get here one day? Like we did?

That'd be cool. I could uhhh teach you random Yiddish in return?

Maybe. My friend Tommy, his brother wound up here, and like, his brother's husband's bodyguard and stuff. So it's possible. Don't hold your breath, though.

[silenziobruno]

Sure! [ A pause. ] What's Yiddish?

Brother's husband's bodyguard? [ He didn't even know that guys could get married, this world's incredible. But ey, there's a chance Luca and Giulia or even Massimo could get there, that's enough to give Alberto some hope. ]

That's great then! I think Luca would like this place, he's very interested in stars, planets, and learning new things. [ Alberto chuckles softly, as if remembering something. ] He would also freak out a lot. But he's braver than one might think at first glance.

It's a language mostly spoken by Ashkenazi Jews. I only know a tiny bit 'cause of my mom.

Yeah. It's convoluted, I know.

Is that your brother?

I never heard it before but I'll like to learn it. I don't think there were any Ashkenazi Jews in Portorosso.

It happens.

Not quite, no. He's my best friend, we're very close.

Yeah, Jews in Italy... That's probably not a fun topic to get into, actually.

[ Sorry Kyle, he doesn't know much, or anything, about human history. ]

Do they not like your people? Because I can relate to that. They don't like mine either.

But if they're happy, it's all good, right?

I just wonder if he will be all right by himself. I don't want Luca to think I abandoned him.

I mean, there's been issues in the past and stuff. You're not from Italy?

If they're happy, yeah. Is he your age? He's probably upset but okay.

Ah, I didn't know. I'm from Italy...kind of? I lived in a really small island for a while. I didn't get a lot of news there about the rest of the world.

Then it's all good. He's one year younger and shorter than me, but Luca is really smart and wants to see the world. I know he has other people with him but... [ As he said, he hates the idea of Luca believing that he disappeared just like that. ]

How long have you been living here?

[kyley_b]

Oh, okay, I gotcha.

But you miss him. Yeah. I get that.

Oh, jeez. A few months now. Which is bizarre to think about.

[silenziobruno]

[ He just gives Kyle a bit of a forced smile and drops the subject. Better not to get into details. ]

Yeah...do you miss someone special too?

That's a lot. What do you do to have fun around here?

I miss my little brother a lot. We don't live together anymore, but being here makes me worry about him a lot.

Uhhh well... uhm. I don't really know.

[silenziobruno]

I never really had any siblings before Giulia, and she's close to my age. How old is yours?

Really? [ That's sad, man. ] Guess we will need to come up with our own way to have fun then. Do you like building things?

[kyley_b]

Nineteen. So he was just a baby when I was a kid.

I'm pretty crap at it, but I don't mind it. Right now I mostly work in the greenhouse and the diner. Which isn't NOT fun.

[silenziobruno]

Aw. I bet you were a good brother and he mises you too.

I'll think of something then, I'm the best at this sort of things. Why is the house green?

I sure tried to be.

Oh, it's not painted green, it's what you call a place where you grow plants.

That's what matters!

But plants already grow in the wild, why do you want them inside a house? Or is that like...a garden?

Yeah, like an indoor garden. It's so we know we'll always have food.
