SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Hot Summer Time!
If hunting for food isn't what you came here for, then sunbathing is always an option. Even if the color seems odd, this sand, also, likes to go literally everywhere.
Simply hopping into the water is also rarely a bad idea. This close to the coast there are no harmful creatures in the water, so whether you brought a swim suit, hop in fully clothed or have no care in the world about who might stumble over you naked, Agra 10's ocean is yours to play in.
Explore the city!
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Glad to hear it, kid. And if anyone gives you trouble about that, you let me know. Seriously though? I don't think anyone's going to complain. They'll welcome any willing help.
[All Alberto's shifting around back there hasn't made the Exo budge, and Cayde seems more amused for the kid's excitement that he doesn't mind being temporarily relegated to being a jungle gym.]
Back home, lots of Hunters. I have to be in charge of 'em all too, tiring, tedious work sometimes because everyone gets to go out and adventure and I get stuck doing paperwork most of the time.
We're not actually a team, but we all work towards the same thing. We're all Guardians. That includes Warlocks and Titans- Hunters are the best, by the way. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
[He grins.]
Guess the other two in the Vanguard are basically my team though. I head the Hunters, Ikora covers the Warlocks, and Zavala, he's the commander but he's also a Titan.

Alberto is a bit surprised by the offer of help, green eye blinking and staring at the Exo, clearly not used to it even though Cayde has been nothing but friendly and badass since he met him. Alberto gives him a smile that it's more soft and genuine than the previous excited one. And if he's clinging some more to Cayde's neck, well...he doesn't want to fall down right now. ]
I'll remember, thank you. [ It's good to know. On the kid's defense, Cayde makes for a really entertaining jungle gym. He also says really cool things, like explaining what the Hunters's do. ]You all have really great names. Are the Titans big? What does a Warlock do? And what do you guard in your world?
[ Are you tired already of all the questions, Cayde? ]
no subject
He shakes his head, chuckling.]
Oh yeah, huge. Their shoulders especially, honestly, I don't know why.
Warlocks? They like to look into the mysteries of the universe and read a lot. Spew a lot of words too. Also they use space magic. My friend Ikora's actually around. I bet she'd love to answer any and all your questions about Warlocks if you ever run into her.
And as for what we guard? Well, humanity. Our world. There's a lot of places back home that look not too different from this city. So we fight hard to protect what we have.

Maybe to lift weights? Or stand on top of one another and scare off other land monsters. [ Posting that out makes Alberto realize that, while he's the opposite of heavy, it's not nice to make Cayde carry him. He wiggles a little and disentangles himself from the man, leaping to the ground. Dangerously close to the edge of the cliffs, at that, but it's been made clear that heights aren't an issue for this kid. ]
Hah! Going by that description, like my friend Luca could be a warlock, he loves all those things, especially the books. Can't do magic just yet, though, but he's learning new things at school. [ Does Alberto know what subjects humans learn at school and which ones are impossible? No. Does he actually worry about figuring out the difference? Also, no. ]
What does Ikora look like? That way, if I see her, I can ask her about it. [ The boy lets out a soft 'Ohhh' and his green eyes got big after that bit of information. Cayde you're so cool. ] That's incredible!
no subject
[He smirks a bit as the kid makes his way down from his shoulders, but he keeps a close eye on him in case Alberto gets a little too close to the edge there.]
Oh yeah? Well, I don't know that they'd teach magic in school but hey, who knows?
Ikora's a tall woman, dark skin, real short hair. Honestly your hair's longer than her's. She wears these long purple robes. Hard to miss her. Also don't be intimidated because she looks super serious? That is her default mode.
[Oh this kid. His ego's going to explode with him around.]
no subject
He's a bit oblivious to Cayde's concern, not because he doesn't appreciate it, really, but because it's something that happens so rarely in his life he's not used to it. ]
Maybe they do in Genoa, I don't know for sure. I've never gone to school. [ He's also not sounding too heartbroken about it either. ] I'll ask Luca about it, if I can find a way to send him a letter.
[ Alberto knows they're on a different planet and all, but the limitations are still sinking in. ]
That will be easy to remember, I've never seen a girl with shorter hair than me. And purple is the best color. [ He grins at that. There's no ulterior motive whatsoever, no sir, it's not because his scales and fins are purple or something. ] S'okay, I don't mind serious people. Massimo is like that, all huge and with big eyebrows that make it look intimidating, but he's a very nice man.
[ Alberto looks around them and then sits down on the ground, taking a deep breath. This world is weird and a bit scary, but from here and with Cayde as company, it doesn't seem so bad. ]
Do you have other friends here?
[ Listen Cayde, credit where credit is due. You are cool to him, just accept it. ]
no subject
Letters aren't a bad idea. Not sure if there'd be a way to send them, but at least you've got things written down and ready to go whenever opportunity might present itself.
[Even he writes letters. Leaves them hidden here and there. Memories someone might remember if not him.]
Ikora can be nice. Just stay on her good side and everything will be just peachy.
Oh, I've made lots of friends here. Most everyone around are nice folks. Even some kids around.
no subject
Hm, that's true. I'd have the letters ready if I do that. But I don't have any paper with me. [ Not since he handled Luca the drawing he made of the two of them riding a Vespa. He does have a pencil, though, because he got used to carrying one around. ]
Will do![ While he gets in trouble often, Alberto doesn't go around annoying or insulting people on purpose. He's no Ercole. That last bit really makes Alberto perk up. ]
Are they robots too? Do robots have kids? [ Now he's wondering if Cayde is a dad too. In all fairness, he's never gotten The Talk™ from anybody, so Alberto doesn't truly know where kids come from. Just that they sorta happen to adults at some point, and that it might or might not involve eggs in some way. ]
no subject
Who, the kids? Nah, they're... Err. Well actually I don't know what the little green kid is. He's like this short and has ears almost as long as he is tall. He likes eating all the weird fish in my tank so I gotta stock it now and then.
The other two kids are human. Not even a year old. And then we got a few teenagers running around, maybe a few years older than you.
[He chuckles.] So far as I know? Robots do not have kids. Before we were robots though? Maybe? Who knows.
[His pre-Exo days are only bits and flashes, but he clings to each piece he's found. Dear Ace, met a new kid today. Think you two'd hit it right off.]
no subject
[ Alberto lived in an abandoned tower in the middle of the sea, the only things he owned, he scavenged them, and thus someone living in a library doesn't sound all that odd to him. That explanation about the green kid, though, it has Alberto raising a confused eyebrow and tilting his head to the side. There are green sea monsters, but they don't have big ears, and so the description doesn't fully fit the nonhumans he knows ].
Uh, weird. But fish are very tasty, so I can't blame him. I'll check on the other kids later. [ Maybe one of them is someone he knows, although Alberto very much doubts it. The news that robots were something else first leaves him surprised again. ]
You weren't always like this? Can other people become robots?
no subject
Jon? He's um. Kind of? He could be. He was trying to correct the Agrii's spelling once, after all. Granted he was kind of drunk at the time but it was pretty funny.
[Cayde looks back out across the sea, sighing a little.]
Nope, wasn't always like this, kid. All us Exos, we used to be people, flesh and blood people. That was... a long time ago. Anyway, can't remember much of whoever I used to be. The technology that made us was lost so there haven't been any new robots made- probably for the better. I dunno.
no subject
What's drunk? [ They don't have alcohol under the surface, or any interesting drinks like the land dwellers do, he's not familiar with that concept.
After Cayde's explanation, Alberto feels bad for asking because it seems like a touchy subject and even a kid like him can realize that. He has even more questions now, but he's not as brazen as to go and ask them. Instead, he gives the Exo a sympathetic smile. ]
I think you look better than the humans. And you can do a lot of amazing things.
[ 'The humans', the kid says, as if he's not supposed to be one as well. ]
no subject
Heh, don't know what getting drunk is? Hang around my bar sometime and you might see someone do just that. It's what happens when someone drinks too much alcohol- they start acting funny.
[Cayde chuckles, glancing down at Alberto to flash him a smile. That particular phrasing doesn't get past him, but he doesn't point it out.]
I know, I am one handsome Exo. But thank you for noticing.
[Grinning, he reaches over to ruffle the kid's hair.]
Ready to head back down yet?
no subject
Cayde, you're talking to a 14-year-old, inviting him to a bar to see drunk people might not be the wisest move. So, of course, Alberto looks thrilled by the idea. ]
Oh, that sounds entertaining. [ He heard the word 'funny' and pretty much didn't pay attention to anything else. What even is alcohol? He doesn't know, doesn't much care, really. He's relieved that Cayde is soon enough back to laughing, and he makes a happy noise of his own when his hair is ruffled. ]
Yeah, we can go. This has been fun but I figure you must be busy with your bar and all. [ Time to climb Cayde again, more carefully this time. ]
no subject
In any case, Cayde's not one to stay sad for long. He shakes his head.]
Busy? Nah. It's pretty much self-run. I threw it together more so people could have a space to hang out, have a few drinks. But it's nice having a place to just have a place to relax when I'm not climbing cliffs and things.
[He stoops down so Alberto won't have to put too much effort into climbing back up.]
Don't I owe you lunch?
no subject
Like a hideout of sorts to hang out with friends. I had something similar back home, the ruined tower where I used to live. [ So, really, it was nothing like what Cayde described, except maybe in spirit.
The boy murmurs a quick 'thanks' and gets into position, legs wrapped around the Exo's middle and arms holding onto his pauldron and shoulder. Then he brightens at Cayde's questions because FOOD. He's always in the mood for food. ]
True. The lobster got away, I almost forgot. Are we going to try to catch another?
no subject
[Cayde straightens up again once Alberto's in position.]
Oh yeah, let's do it. Those lobsters won't stand a chance.
[And once Alberto's set, the Exo's just going to jump. Right on off the cliff. He'll jump again before they get too close to the ground, to pad his landing better.]
no subject
[ That unexpected jumps earns Cayde a surprised yelp that turns into a loud laugh as they descent and jump before touching the ground. Alberto is never going to get used to how cool is that, and he doesn't want to.
He still had a long way before he starts to get used to the idea of living in a hotel different planet, but Cayde helped a lot already, and he's glad to have made such a great and badass friend. ]
