This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Hot Summer Time!

Summer has arrived and you know what that means: It's time to head out and spend some time at the beach, lounging on its bluish, almost purple sand, going for a swim or gathering some of the fat, green lobsters just wandering around the beach. They may be tasty, but remember that their pinch is toxic. It won’t kill you but it will definitely have the pinched body part swelling up and itching like a bad wool sweater.

If hunting for food isn't what you came here for, then sunbathing is always an option. Even if the color seems odd, this sand, also, likes to go literally everywhere.

Simply hopping into the water is also rarely a bad idea. This close to the coast there are no harmful creatures in the water, so whether you brought a swim suit, hop in fully clothed or have no care in the world about who might stumble over you naked, Agra 10's ocean is yours to play in.

Explore the city!

Here's a map and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!

That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar - Or what remains of them. It's painfully obvious that these ships have crash-landed not too long ago and were taken back to the hangar for repairs. You were assigned to one of them and its doors will open for you and let you enter if you wish. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but as neither of them look as if they will be leaving anytime soon that doesn't really matter either way.

Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?

Try the network!

Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Wildcard!

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Ah, very young then, to not recognize magic. Well, Reeve had no issue explaining. ANd if his eyes cast about to watch for further crustaceans to protect the cub from, it wouldn't be that wrong, would it?

"I've seen swelling itching. I expect either the medics or agricultural specialists may have a means to help with that, but it would be a lengthy walk to the hospital or greenhouse."

As for the lobster, he put the materia back in his pocket.

"Just an ice spell. Nothing complicated."

As soon as Reeve starts to explain, there's a confused look on Simba's face. He has no idea what some of those words are. Medics? Agriculture? Hospital? Green house? It's like a different language to him even though he can understand this strange ape guy perfectly.

"A what?" he then blurts out. Not knowing what an ice spell is either. He then huffs in frustration, not enjoying the fact that he doesn't understand and plops down on his butt to stare up at Reeve with a frown. "You're weird." This stated as fact.

"Yes," Reeve agreed, offering a brief nod. "I suppose I might seem to be. What part should I explain better?"

Because he doesn't want to upset the little one further. He wishes to just watch over him.

He just agreed to being called weird. That's really weird. That question though, Reeve you might regret this.

"Okay," Simba says, taking in a deep breath before launching into his questions. "What are medics? What's a green house? What's a hospital? What's an ag... agra... acricull... What was that word again?"

That's... A lot of questions. Alright then.

"Medics are people who use their knowledge and skills to make you feel better when you're hurt. A green house is a space where one can grow plants, even when it isn't their season. A hospital is where medics heal people. And agriculture is the process of growing plants."

And its not going to end there.

"Then why don't you just call medics healers if they heal? Why would you want to grow plants? What are people? Are you a people?"

Oh dear, what a curious cub. Clearly its parents have yet to begin to teach it proper things.

"Healers work with magic or natural things. Medics work with derived medicine and tool. We grow plants because humans, which is what I am, eat plants. People would include humans but also non-humans, like you. You're people too. Well a person, person is singular."

“Ew, gross.”

Simba makes a face at the thought of eating plants.

“I’m not a people I’m a lion. And only antelope and zebra and other animals like that eat plants. Lions eat the animals that eat the plants.”

You know, the circle of life and all that. Then a brilliant idea strikes him and he grins.

“Does that mean I can eat you?”

There are so many arguments that Reeve could make here, ways to explain it. He doesn't even get caught up in the 'what is an antelope' question, or try to explain an omnivore. Instead he gestures at the still frozen lobster.

"I think it's very clear that such an attempt wouldn't go well for you, child."

Looking back at the lobster Simba frowns. “Oh. Right.” The guy has a point there. But then the talk of eating makes his stomach growl.

“But I’ve got to eat something.”

And he’s not eating plants. He might have been persuaded to eat bugs if he met Timon and Pumbaa, which he hasn’t yet, but plants are a hard pass.

"That we can do something about. But it might be a long walk. If you promise not to try and take a bite, I could carry you."

There was still some dried meat in the diner after all. It might not be the tastiest, but it will be a thing.

“All right I promise.”

And don’t worry Reeve, Simba has no hunting skills yet at all. Just taking a bite out of him would be silly! This cub is just a pest.

Hardly a pest. Reeve leans down to pick up the cub, cradling it in his arms as carefully as he can.

"Good. What is your opinion of fish?"

Letting himself get picked up, he tried not to squirm. He hasn’t been picked up like this since he was really little. Instead he turns his ears forward and blinks at the question.

“They’re fun to chase?”

He’s never actually tried fish.

"Perhaps. But are you familiar with their taste?" Reeve asked as he started walking confidently over the beach.

"I'm asking because I'm trying to determine what we can feed you, given you're a carnivore."

“Nope.”

Because why eat fish when your mom could bring you a piece of antelope?

“You got any zebra?”

"I don't know what zebra is," Reeve answered as he kept up his walk toward the diner. And when he reached the point where the sand started turning toward short grasses, he was joined by Mini. The cat didn't even bother asking what was going on.

“Oh… um. They’re big with hooves and a lot of stripes.”

He’s never had to actually describe a zebra before. Everyone knows what one is.

“And really tasty.”

Maybe that would help?

Hooves and stripes? Nope, doesn't make sense to him.

"I'm sorry, I've never seen a thing like that, here or back home. Perhaps you're from a place there I haven't seen before."

it was possible, right? Reeve had never really studied the fauna of Cosmo Canyon.

"Oh... maybe," the cub agrees. Though it makes him frown. But now he's getting a bit worried about what he's going to eat.

"So then what do you have?"

"Well, it seems that you may not take well to fruits and vegetables, so we'll need to talk to others about what we can hunt for you. I think I saw someone bringing piglet-squirrels in this morning. Maybe one is left."

Hopefully the little cub will be able to eat something that isn't fresh killed.
