SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Hot Summer Time!
Summer has arrived and you know what that means: It's time to head out and spend some time at the beach, lounging on its bluish, almost purple sand, going for a swim or gathering some of the fat, green lobsters just wandering around the beach. They may be tasty, but remember that their pinch is toxic. It won’t kill you but it will definitely have the pinched body part swelling up and itching like a bad wool sweater.

If hunting for food isn't what you came here for, then sunbathing is always an option. Even if the color seems odd, this sand, also, likes to go literally everywhere.

Simply hopping into the water is also rarely a bad idea. This close to the coast there are no harmful creatures in the water, so whether you brought a swim suit, hop in fully clothed or have no care in the world about who might stumble over you naked, Agra 10's ocean is yours to play in.

Explore the city!
Here's a map and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar - Or what remains of them. It's painfully obvious that these ships have crash-landed not too long ago and were taken back to the hangar for repairs. You were assigned to one of them and its doors will open for you and let you enter if you wish. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but as neither of them look as if they will be leaving anytime soon that doesn't really matter either way.

Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Who's haunting you?

[Bucky's still damp from the storm, can't have been here much longer than Mobius, and he looks just as tired, pointedly ignoring the images that try to steal his attention away.]
folksydope: (pained)

[personal profile] folksydope 2021-07-13 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[This guy is actually making sense, and Mobius doesn't recognize him at all. So he's gonna go ahead and assume he's actually real.]

[softly] Someone I thought was a friend. When she did something kinda bad to me, I figured that probably wasn't the case.

You?
thestaremaster: (closed off)

[personal profile] thestaremaster 2021-07-13 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. [Bucky's eyes flick down with a faint frown.] ...People I hurt.

[Redirecting] How kinda bad are we talking?
folksydope: (uh huh?)

[personal profile] folksydope 2021-07-13 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Mobius raises his eyebrows, wondering if the other man means 'murdered' or, y'know, 'didn't give them the free cookie with their sandwich'. He'll go with the redirection for now, especially since spectral-Ravonna's getting riiiight up in his face.]

Ah. Well, funny story. Kinda killed me. Or so I thought, anyway.
thestaremaster: (yeah no)

[personal profile] thestaremaster 2021-07-13 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Depending on just how much of the sacred timeline stuff he has memorized that doesn't pertain to Loki, he have some idea as to which category Bucky fits into better. Though that can also probably be guessed just by look at him.]

[He arches a brow right back that that.]

Funny when that happens, isn't it? I'd say that's right up there.
folksydope: (it was thiiis big)

[personal profile] folksydope 2021-07-13 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
[He has some knowledge, yeah, especially of the elements that have interacted with Loki directly or at one or two removes. He hasn't quite put it together just yet. And his player needs to think about how god-modey and annoying it could get for other players, though that might be a case by case basis

Bucky looks too haunted for it to be anything small.]

[Ghost-Ravonna smiles at him, and Mobius has to very deliberately force himself to look away.]

I'd say you're probably right. Certainly not the outcome I was hoping for from my performance review.

Mobius. [Realizing that might not be obvious, he taps his chest.] That's me. My name, I mean.
thestaremaster: (wave)

[personal profile] thestaremaster 2021-07-13 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[TBF, Bucky always looks that way, even without literally ghosts surrounding them. And feel free to know as much or as little for our test drive as you like, I'm cool with it.]

[Bucky offers a sympathetic wince and shakes his head.]

Wow. Story's getting less and less funny.

Bucky. [His lips quirk faintly at that very human exchange in the midst of all of this, offering his hand.]
folksydope: (and pull your knees in ti-i-ight)

[personal profile] folksydope 2021-07-14 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
[awesome, thank youuuu, I'll put up an opt-in post when I get around to it]

Yeah, guess I'm not getting a comedy Escar for that. Or an Ommy. Or whatever the right social reference'd be for your time.

[He shakes, with a small smile, then steps back again. Ravonna's smiling at him. He does his best to ignore, and palms his hair back off his forehead, not that it's long enough to need much of that.]

Bucky... Barnes?
thestaremaster: (guarded stare)

[personal profile] thestaremaster 2021-07-16 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[That earns a flat but bemused smile.]

I can't tell if that's another show at your comedy skills.

[That definitely has Bucky's guard back up, eyes flitting over Mobius. He looks government, not exactly modern but neither is Bucky, and to have his name recognized by a face from the past that he doesn't know makes him wary.]

...Yes?
folksydope: (Default)

[personal profile] folksydope 2021-07-16 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Mobius gives him a wryly amused look back. It's late, he's tired, he's dealing with the ghost of his murderer and he's kind of still very fond of her.]

Ah.

Loki's more my area of expertise in your particular part of the sacred timeline, but I'm aware of you, and your pal Steve Rogers.

[and he hastily puts his hands up, palms towards Bucky, just for a moment] No threat meant. You're obviously not from the more, uh, dangerous parts of your life.
thestaremaster: (long stare)

[personal profile] thestaremaster 2021-07-22 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[That suspicious look doesn't exactly fade, though his head does tilt a little in question.]

The sacred timeline?

[There's a whole lot to unpack there, but that's the bit that seems the most pressing to start with.]

I can still be plenty dangerous.

[There's a promise there, still not sure what side of things Mobius is on.]
folksydope: (it was thiiis big)

[personal profile] folksydope 2021-07-25 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Sacred timeline. Yeah. Something I'm sworn to protect.

[never mind that he's not entirely sure that holds true any more, given the timeline's gone all kablooie and it was arguably bullshit to begin with anyway]

[Mobius shakes his head tiredly]

Yeah, and I don't have a weapon, and I have no doubt you could take me out with your little finger if you tried. Not really a fighter, and I don't have a reason to fight you anyway.
thestaremaster: (softly i will kill you)

[personal profile] thestaremaster 2021-07-28 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
...I'm gonna need a little more than that.

[He gives him a prompting look. You can't just go announcing that 1. there's a sacred timeline and 2. you protect it, like it's on par with being a bank teller or something.]

Explain.
folksydope: (and pull your knees in ti-i-ight)

[personal profile] folksydope 2021-08-01 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
I guess you are.

[Mobius isn't so used to interacting with people who aren't TVA, or at least TVA-aware, these days. Mostly he's tried to blend in, or he's just been zooming through a situation to try to contain a threat. Hasn't done much actual talking. This isn't so bad, though.

And it's distracting him, at least a little, from Ravonna.]

In the old days I wouldn't've told you a lot. It's important to try to protect the timeline, yadda yadda yadda. But these days, everything's changed.

Anyways.

The Time Variance Authority exists outside of time and tries to hold the multiverse to just the one timeline. When something happens that shouldn't, it results in the creation of a new timeline, and occasionally variants. Like if it was someone else, not Steve Rogers, who took the serum that first time.

I used to work for them.
