SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Hot Summer Time!
Summer has arrived and you know what that means: It's time to head out and spend some time at the beach, lounging on its bluish, almost purple sand, going for a swim or gathering some of the fat, green lobsters just wandering around the beach. They may be tasty, but remember that their pinch is toxic. It won’t kill you but it will definitely have the pinched body part swelling up and itching like a bad wool sweater.

If hunting for food isn't what you came here for, then sunbathing is always an option. Even if the color seems odd, this sand, also, likes to go literally everywhere.

Simply hopping into the water is also rarely a bad idea. This close to the coast there are no harmful creatures in the water, so whether you brought a swim suit, hop in fully clothed or have no care in the world about who might stumble over you naked, Agra 10's ocean is yours to play in.

Explore the city!
Here's a map and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar - Or what remains of them. It's painfully obvious that these ships have crash-landed not too long ago and were taken back to the hangar for repairs. You were assigned to one of them and its doors will open for you and let you enter if you wish. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but as neither of them look as if they will be leaving anytime soon that doesn't really matter either way.

Maybe look around anyway. Or try your hand at some repairs?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Exploring

[ooc: Mobius-mun here]

"That's a terrible habit, or so my mother always used to say," Steve banters from the other side of the shelves. He's looking for socks, himself. He can handle anything if he has to. Any kind of physical extremity.

Right now, he's not fighting, and his feet have been freezing.
l1130: (can the devil speak true?)

<3 !!!

Loki frowns immediately, but ... well ...

"Consumption isn't actually the goal, here. I'm testing a theory. I fail to see the purpose of the stuff, myself. Why get something like that if it doesn't provide any nourishment?"

hi! <3

"I guess it can help psychologically?" Steve suggests, starting to think about it. He comes around the end of the aisle, and starts sorting through the piles of random things in a continuation of his search.

"Something to do? Something to fidget with? Maybe-"

He takes a proper look at the person he's talking to, and blinks rapidly. "Loki?"

"Oral. Fidgeting." He really sounds like he's got Some Thoughts on that, but any snarky remark he might have vanishes as Steve realizes who he's talking to.

Loki beams, spreading his hands wide to either side.

"Ta-da."
thefirstass: (bearded and ready to fight)

[personal profile] thefirstass 2021-07-25 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
What was that snarky comment for?

Steve tilts his head, examining the tall figure in front of him. He's not... entirely unhappy to see Loki. He knows from Thor that the man- god- whatever he is- has done some good, and he knows that Thor mourned him.

He's not entirely happy, though, either.

"I thought you were dead," he says carefully.
l1130: (best safety lies in fear)

[personal profile] l1130 2021-07-25 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that takes the snark-wind right out of his sails. Loki's face crumples into shock and fear for a brief instant, then hardens into anger. He's not lived what Steve was told, but he's seen it.

"It hasn't happened yet. But I know it will. ... Tell me one thing. Thanos. You finished him."

The oddest thing is, he thinks, he believes in them now. Knows they're strong enough. Maybe because of what Mobius told him. Maybe because he would have wanted to be at his brother's side all along. To consider them comrades like the Warriors Three...introspection and time have shown him a great deal.

[personal profile] thefirstass 2021-07-26 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Pissing this guy off is never really a great idea. Steve's ready to fight, but deeply, deeply hoping he won't have to. He hasn't had to fight so far here and he wants to keep it that way if possible. He went back to Peggy and gave up the shield, after all. (Even though he's now starting to realize that wasn't the best decision he's ever made.)

Loki's not attacking.

Steve folds his arms, eyes troubled and dark. "We did," he acknowledges. "It took all of us. And there were... losses."

l1130: (as full of grief as age)

[personal profile] l1130 2021-07-26 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sorry for who you lost," he says softly. "... But good. Good that you vanquished him. He was ..."

He lets out a shuddering breath, pulls himself together, and meets Steve's eyes.

"I know you've no reason to believe me. But he used one of the Infinity Stones to control my mind. Brought my worst desires to the front of it. That's ... that's why I brought the Chitauri to New York. I ... on my own? I would have never."
thefirstass: (Default)

[personal profile] thefirstass 2021-07-26 05:18 am (UTC)(link)

Steve nods slowly, exhaling. "Thor told us about what happened with you, and the others. On the ship. How you'd all fought, and had barely managed to escape, and you thought that everything was better. Right up until it wasn't. And the things that Thor didn't say were about as significant as what he said."

And this is where being innately fair can be a huge pain in the ass, sometimes, because it takes so much more energy than just hating someone. He doesn't necessarily completely trust what Loki tells him, but on the other hand?

He speaks quietly. "Thor said something like that might've been possible. That you weren't your usual self. I'm not sure I trust you, but I know it's more complicated than you being a bad guy. I also - I know that working with you, the way that you did, eventually, was very important to Thor."

l1130: (as full of grief as age)

[personal profile] l1130 2021-07-26 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Important to him.

Loki tears up before he can even think to put a lid on it. He hates showing any sort of weakness in front of people he doesn't trust, but - well. He's never going to see his brother again. And to know that something that happened touched Thor - even if it's something he will never do, personally - cuts straight through Loki's heart.

"... Thank you for telling me that, Captain. That ... means more than you know."
thefirstass: (hug for Bucky)

[personal profile] thefirstass 2021-07-27 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well, hell.

The thing is, Loki is powerful, but Steve has his own abilities, and if Loki wants to attack it won't make much difference whether there are two feet or two inches separating them.

That's what Steve tells himself, anyway, as he finds himself with a hand gripping Loki's shoulder in attempted comfort.
l1130: (best safety lies in fear)

[personal profile] l1130 2021-07-29 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Loki looks down at that hand in quiet wonder. He's stunned into silence for a moment or two, before swallowing thickly and nodding.

"... Thank you. I should explain things. You're from the end of it all, so ... you must know about the Time Stone. Yes?"
thefirstass: (funeral)

[personal profile] thefirstass 2021-08-04 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
Steve steps back, and nods in return. This is probably not going to go terrifically well, but it's information, and he always needs information.

"I know the Time Stone. I know all of the Infinity Stones, yeah."
