WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Winter in Temba and Sh'Ka
And it still keeps snowing.
Over in Sh'Ka, a similar picture has been painted. But being situated within all these tall trees paints a somewhat different picture. A more icy one. All the by now leaf-free trees are covered in a thick layer of ice, as are Sh'Ka's stone-carved buildings. The wind here is harsher than it is in Temba, which has been comparably wind-free.
Please try not to slip and hurt yourself while marveling at either city.
Explore
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Nicolai Kuznetsov | OC | OTA
i. Temba
[It was fitting, in a way, that he'd go from the frozen countryside of Russia to the frozen cityscape of...what was this place again? Temba? It never snowed this much back where he lived in America, so he both wasn't and was used to it, after spending a few weeks in Russia.
He was wearing the appropriate clothes for the cold at least, comfortably bundled against it. But he also slipped and stumbled now and then as he trudged through the knee-deep snow. The snow hid a slippery ground and his shoes weren't cut out for it. Which eventually led to him slipping so bad he faceplanted into the snow. The cold on his face was a shock, even colder than the air was. He pushed himself onto his side, reaching up to brush the snow from his face.]
Perfect.
[His accent was American, vague, West coast, but nothing more definitive than that.
Groaning, he pushed himself back up to his feet, brushing more snow from his hat and the front of his clothes. He took two steps before slipping again, though this time he was able to grab onto the back of a nearby bench to keep from ending up on the ground again. He really, really hoped no one was watching him.]
ii. The Hotel
[Nico was relieved to get out of the snow, just so he'd stop slipping so often. Besides, it was a little warmer inside, even if the lobby didn't look like anything special. He made his way upstairs, hand trailing gently along the railing as he looked around.]
Hello? Is there anyone here?
[He didn't know what he was expecting, but so long as it wasn't some kind of wild animal, it couldn't be too bad.]
iii. Storms
[He really shouldn't have stepped out into the storm. He'd been tucked away in a building, safe and sound, but something had compelled him. Maybe he'd just always been too curious for his own good or maybe some other force was at work here. No matter what it was, he left the safety of his building and headed outside.
He felt...different once he was outside in the storm, but he couldn't put his finger on how or why, exactly. The worry was quickly pushed to the side when he heard a familiar voice.
Nicolai.
He turned quickly, stumbling a step or two when he caught sight of his sister, looking exactly like she had when he'd last seen her alive.]
Oksana?
[It was impossible. He'd been to her funeral, it couldn't be- and yet when she beckoned to him, he moved towards her. She led him farther into the storm, farther away from safety, and he followed like a moth to a flame. He didn't know where he was going; he just knew he had to follow her.
She flickered in and out of existence, disappearing here and reappearing there. His brow furrowed as he turned this way and that to try and keep her in sight.]
Oksana?
[She flickered out of sight again and he felt a surge of emotions- anxiety, fear, confusion.
He shouted now-]
Oksana!
iv. Network - un: kuznetsov
Hey. Does anyone know what's up with the storms that happen here?
I saw someone I know and I just want to know how common this is.
Does it mean anything?
Thanks.
I
When she saw the stranger she frowned in his direction and started forging a path through the snow toward him, easily breaking a new path because, well, with her size and strength it was quite easy.]
Are you alright?
no subject
Upon realizing he was staring, he promptly blushed and closed his mouth, which had been slightly open.]
Sorry, I'm sorry.
[He apologized quickly, refusing to let go of the bench.]
Yeah, I'm okay. I just--my shoes aren't cut out for all this ice and snow. I've been through worse, though.
[He laughed like it was a nice joke.]
no subject
I do not know why you are sorry. Are you apologizing to the ground? I don't think it will be upset. However, if you wish, I can assist you to a building."
no subject
[Nope. If she didn't think he'd been being rude, he was going to let it drop.
The offer of help, on the other hand, made him pause for a moment. While he sometimes had trouble accepting help, the idea of flailing around in the snow on his own some more wasn't appealing, either.]
I'd appreciate some help. This snow is awful.
no subject
Come, I will be stable for you. Where are you going?
ii
What if–– no. The elf really needed to stop comparing things from Thedas to Tembra because this world was not like his own. They had running hot water here! No slavers! Robots with names like data! And ships that didn't go in the water!
Pulling out his device, the elf dusted the snow off of the scarf he kept up over his head like a hood, then hastened his step after the new person. If the stranger ended up being a threat, he could just run and seek shelter at the diner. Or civic center. Going to the bottom step, Lerith typed on the device in hand, then knocked on the wall for the attention with the other.
The device was held up. [are you new here? or are you looking for someone ?]
no subject
"Don't sneak u-oh." He stopped short when he saw the lifted device, taking a few steps closer so he could read it more clearly. "I'm new here, yeah. I don't know much about anything, just-- trying to get my bearings."
He'd maybe been hoping to see a particular familiar face here too, but he wasn't going to hold his breath. They'd been continents apart, so the odds of Blaine also having been abducted or whatever and brought here were probably very low.
no subject
[i understand. i have been here only a month.] Lerith would take a strange land with strange people over cruel magisters and a fire-breathing dragon though. At the door that led outside, the wind howled and snow pushed against it. There'd be no going back out right now. The elf had a choice, and his expression changed to one of thinking.
This person was new, and didn't know the area well enough to go anywhere. Even if he did, the snow was too much right now to get through. It was a risk, a very big risk, but it would be the right thing to do. Straightening up to his full 6' height, the device was held up again.
[snow is too much outside right now. come with me, my room is upstairs. warm safe and with some food.]
no subject
"A month's a pretty long time." Not as long as it could have been, but still. He wondered if there was a way home or if they were really stranded here. He would have been glad to help if he'd had a way to travel back and forth or something...helping others was kind of the whole thing he did.
He hesitated for a second after reading the second message. He didn't want to intrude, but the man was right; there was a lot of snow outside, the weather was kind of...unfriendly.
"If you're sure, okay." Nico nodded, smiling. "Oh! My name's Nicolai."
no subject
Once they're both in, Lerith shuts the door and goes to the large window to look outside. The snow howls outside, swirling flakes rushing past the cold glass. He shivers and pulls the dusty curtain closed. Hitting a switch - which was fascinating to say the least - the lights of the room flickered on to give the space a warm, cozy feeling.
[my name is lerith. how do you speel your name? there is some bread wrapped up on the desk if you're hungry. i do not have a lot yet here.]

Tried to smash his fist into Nico's face, while he was at it. He'd never been good at 'hello'.
no subject
"Blaine?"
no subject
no subject
When Blaine hugged him, Nico hugged him back, winding his arms around him and tucking his face against his shoulder. It wasn't as tight as Blaine could hug him, so Nico didn't mind. "I saw-- did you see my sister?"
