WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Winter in Temba and Sh'Ka
And it still keeps snowing.
Over in Sh'Ka, a similar picture has been painted. But being situated within all these tall trees paints a somewhat different picture. A more icy one. All the by now leaf-free trees are covered in a thick layer of ice, as are Sh'Ka's stone-carved buildings. The wind here is harsher than it is in Temba, which has been comparably wind-free.
Please try not to slip and hurt yourself while marveling at either city.
Explore
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Padmé Amidala | Star Wars
Winters are not usually so harsh on Naboo and Padmé finds herself curiously wandering in the snow when there is a small lull. Her body aches in the same way as her heart and she is tired. But life has been returned to her - a gift she doesn't intend on throwing away. Bending down, she scoops up a handful of snow and immediately regrets it, sucking in a sharp, cold breath through her teeth. Tucking her hand against her body, she smiles faintly at her rash desire to touch the icy mixture and begins to take in her surroundings.
What can she expect from this planet? Acquiring a weapon wouldn't be a bad idea, yet she almost feels like she is alone. The snowy world around her is so still and even when she strains her ears, she can't hear anything other than the soft sound of the snow piling up.
(Deep End)
Luck brings her to the bar and she enters it cautiously - and then with relief. The warmth thaws out her frozen limbs and she finds a place to sit, rubbing her hands together. If she is going to find out anything useful, a bar would be a good place to start. So she approaches the first outwardly friendly-looking person and gives them a smile.
"Do you have a moment?"
(Network)
(Technology is nothing new to her and so she learns how to operate the communication's device quickly. However she sticks to text because she doesn't know who could be watching the transmission.)
I have visited many planets, but this one is definitely unique. I am curious; has anyone heard of Naboo? Coruscant? Tatooine? Those are planets from the galaxy I know.
(And they feel farther away than ever.)
Also, where might I acquire a weapon? For protective purposes; I have no desire to hurt anyone.
Network
I recognize those names. Is it safe to assume you have just arrived?
Protection is always a priority here. There is an armory full of functional weaponry, but there is a catch in using them.
[At this time, it's easier to talk of arms than to linger on the fact that someone else from the galaxy is now with them.]
no subject
I have. I suppose it is equally safe to presume you have been here awhile?
What is the catch?
(Their galaxy is popular? They certainly have enough drama for the universe.)

Temba!
"Good thing we got those heaters fixed up," he mutters, receiving a hooting beep in response from behind him. The little droid hanging off his back peeks over his shoulder with an inquisitive whistle then, which has the young man looking out ahead as he senses someone else out in the snow.
no subject
"If you're looking for company, I'm over here."
Around the time those last words leave her lips she sees the young man. Well it's good that the little droid isn't alone. She brushes the snow off of her cloak and smiles in welcome.
"I'm relieved to see someone."

Nicolai Kuznetsov | OC | OTA
i. Temba
[It was fitting, in a way, that he'd go from the frozen countryside of Russia to the frozen cityscape of...what was this place again? Temba? It never snowed this much back where he lived in America, so he both wasn't and was used to it, after spending a few weeks in Russia.
He was wearing the appropriate clothes for the cold at least, comfortably bundled against it. But he also slipped and stumbled now and then as he trudged through the knee-deep snow. The snow hid a slippery ground and his shoes weren't cut out for it. Which eventually led to him slipping so bad he faceplanted into the snow. The cold on his face was a shock, even colder than the air was. He pushed himself onto his side, reaching up to brush the snow from his face.]
Perfect.
[His accent was American, vague, West coast, but nothing more definitive than that.
Groaning, he pushed himself back up to his feet, brushing more snow from his hat and the front of his clothes. He took two steps before slipping again, though this time he was able to grab onto the back of a nearby bench to keep from ending up on the ground again. He really, really hoped no one was watching him.]
ii. The Hotel
[Nico was relieved to get out of the snow, just so he'd stop slipping so often. Besides, it was a little warmer inside, even if the lobby didn't look like anything special. He made his way upstairs, hand trailing gently along the railing as he looked around.]
Hello? Is there anyone here?
[He didn't know what he was expecting, but so long as it wasn't some kind of wild animal, it couldn't be too bad.]
iii. Storms
[He really shouldn't have stepped out into the storm. He'd been tucked away in a building, safe and sound, but something had compelled him. Maybe he'd just always been too curious for his own good or maybe some other force was at work here. No matter what it was, he left the safety of his building and headed outside.
He felt...different once he was outside in the storm, but he couldn't put his finger on how or why, exactly. The worry was quickly pushed to the side when he heard a familiar voice.
Nicolai.
He turned quickly, stumbling a step or two when he caught sight of his sister, looking exactly like she had when he'd last seen her alive.]
Oksana?
[It was impossible. He'd been to her funeral, it couldn't be- and yet when she beckoned to him, he moved towards her. She led him farther into the storm, farther away from safety, and he followed like a moth to a flame. He didn't know where he was going; he just knew he had to follow her.
She flickered in and out of existence, disappearing here and reappearing there. His brow furrowed as he turned this way and that to try and keep her in sight.]
Oksana?
[She flickered out of sight again and he felt a surge of emotions- anxiety, fear, confusion.
He shouted now-]
Oksana!
iv. Network - un: kuznetsov
Hey. Does anyone know what's up with the storms that happen here?
I saw someone I know and I just want to know how common this is.
Does it mean anything?
Thanks.
I
When she saw the stranger she frowned in his direction and started forging a path through the snow toward him, easily breaking a new path because, well, with her size and strength it was quite easy.]
Are you alright?
no subject
Upon realizing he was staring, he promptly blushed and closed his mouth, which had been slightly open.]
Sorry, I'm sorry.
[He apologized quickly, refusing to let go of the bench.]
Yeah, I'm okay. I just--my shoes aren't cut out for all this ice and snow. I've been through worse, though.
[He laughed like it was a nice joke.]

What if–– no. The elf really needed to stop comparing things from Thedas to Tembra because this world was not like his own. They had running hot water here! No slavers! Robots with names like data! And ships that didn't go in the water!
Pulling out his device, the elf dusted the snow off of the scarf he kept up over his head like a hood, then hastened his step after the new person. If the stranger ended up being a threat, he could just run and seek shelter at the diner. Or civic center. Going to the bottom step, Lerith typed on the device in hand, then knocked on the wall for the attention with the other.
The device was held up. [are you new here? or are you looking for someone ?]
no subject
"Don't sneak u-oh." He stopped short when he saw the lifted device, taking a few steps closer so he could read it more clearly. "I'm new here, yeah. I don't know much about anything, just-- trying to get my bearings."
He'd maybe been hoping to see a particular familiar face here too, but he wasn't going to hold his breath. They'd been continents apart, so the odds of Blaine also having been abducted or whatever and brought here were probably very low.

Rasmus Oberon | OC | OTA
i. Temba
[He wasn't used to snow. In the slightest. It was a slog, pushing through knee-deep snow when you were used to California summers. The first chance he got, he ducked into a building, stomping snow off of his shoes and pants. He didn't realize anyone else was there until he looked up.
Freezing, he took a moment to compose himself and figure out what to say.]
Um. Hi?
ii. Spaceships
[Raz had never seen anything like an honest to God spaceship before. They were bigger than he imagined the ships and rockets people had gotten into space with were, at least on the inside. The inside seemed pretty cramped from pictures he'd seen. But not these. These he could walk through, one of them, anyway, trailing a hand against the wall as he went.
He poked his head into rooms as he passed them, assuming the door was open. Much to his surprise, there was someone in one of the rooms and he quickly pulled back.]
Oh. Sorry.
iii. Dog Daze
[Raz sat in one of the larger unoccupied buildings, out of the snow and cold, and threw a stick for a large dog that was most likely not any kind of normal dog at all. It was happy enough to fetch the stick and bring it back to Raz time and time again, until something or other distracted it and it went sniffing around overgrown corners of the large room. Raz shouted to get its attention and the dog came bounding back over, green tongue lolling out of its mouth. He ruffled its ears, gave it a firm pat on the head, and started searching for a new stick to throw.
After a few moments, noticing someone approaching, the dog ducked its head and started to growl, low and menacing. Raz straightened up and went over to the dog, glancing towards where it was staring.]
I don't recommend trying anything.
[He laid a hand on the dog's head but it didn't stop growling. Its tail did give a few feeble wags though.]
I
Though not knowing there had been someone present wasn't a shock either. Hard to realize someone is there when the snowy-haired cook for the day is the local speedster. He hadn't been in the main serving room when Raz had entered. Nah, he'd heard the door open and then had just been in the room, moving at impossible speed as he carried in a steaming kettle of water. For a moment Tommy stared at the stranger, new arrival probably, and then shrugged.]
Hot tea? Don't got any coffee right now. Haven't been using my replicator rations for it. Easier to just make teas.

At the warning he raises his gloved hands to show he has no intention of trying anything, not that the lack of anything in hand would hinder him should that change. Although slight of size he still carries some air of foreboding, perhaps due to faceless helmet he wears.]
I mean no harm.
[His voice is just shy of being monotonic, and not at all bothering to impress reassurance, like the most minimal effort of emotion is offered, laced with a vaguely electric tinge.]

The Chosen Undead | Dark Souls
The undead have no notion of cold as a bad thing. Or rather, they associate it differently; with wolves and axes and hidden traps under the snow, which in the end is not terribly different from the rest of what they might experience. Colder, yes, but what is the cold of a biting wind? Not much, really, not to compare to death.
So, she wanders, avoiding roads, because roads mean people and people mean danger, always. Best to approach hazards sidewise, rather than by the expected way, when you have the choice, after all. Anyone wandering the wind-swept snows of the storm, whether Temba, Sh'ka, or otherwise, will see a figure in full plate armor, blue heraldry rimed in frost, moving with slow but dogged determination in no direction in particular. Perhaps the first you'll see of her is the rut she's leaving behind in the snow. Maybe you'll find yourself suddenly beset upon by a knight with sword drawn, or maybe you're lost too, and finding the one shadow in this snow that isn't a ghost...
Well. There she is. Better tell her not to stick you with that sword she's got, because the moment she sees you it's sheilds up, and let's have at it!
ii. Deep End
Just so, and she is slow to enter the bar, once she stumbles upon it, lingering in the snow outside the doorway, peering in. Every now and then, those inside might see a helmet and visor peering round the door, or someone leaving might see a strange set of armor half-buried in a snowdrift. But they don't go in, not yet, as if unsure of their welcome.
After all, there were reasons for undead to be exiled. And once she started to thaw out... someone might object. Or worse.
iii. Network
[There is a brief spinning, fumbling view, as if the person who had been holding the device had dropped it, then caught it again, partially obscuring the camera with their hand in the process. A moment, and the picture rights; shining armor, silver, partially frosted with— well, frost. The helm tips slightly to one side, light changing as it glints from the changing angles.]
Hello, there.
[The voice is light, feminine, slightly hoarse, and a little muffled.]
I've been listening. This is a strange way to leave messages, isn't it? There's no telling how far one might be from another. [She laughs. That is funny, isn't it?]
I'm... New, I think. It seems as if everyone simply chatters here, so I would like to ask; does anyone know of any particularly large monsters around here? Something really... grossly oversized. If you could tell me anything at all, I'd be very grateful. Thank you.
i
He keeps near the edges of buildings and ruined walls, places that can be used for cover, a habit he will never break. It's also out of habit that he keeps his guard once he detects movement, spinning to turn his helmeted visage towards the stranger.

~ Namine ~ Kingdom Hearts 3 ~
Namine shivered but frowned. It was like ice cream but not sweet.
Clear sky blue eyes looked up at the fountain that was placed in front of her. The water continued to flow, despite the chilling atmosphere. Sparkling sheets of ice draped around the fountain like a cloak as the water cut a path into the pool of water.
She was dressed warmly but felt the cold acutely. It was like a world of cold.
Namine walked towards the fountain and stopped at it's edge, contemplating if she could reach one of the long icicles near the center of the waterworks.
Maybe those were sweet?
[Network - Video]
[She fiddles with the communication device in an attempt to understand how it is used. Namine has seen technology like this, it's the same technology that had given her this life, but she's never had to use it. She wishes Riku or one of the organization were here to lend her a hand.]
Is this on? What's this light?
[The video is currently looking at the floor, showing a pair of petite pale legs and light brown sandals.]
Oh!
[She drops the device and it now shows her leaning forward to pick it up. Blonde hair frames her cheeks while a pair of curious blue eyes stare at the communication device.]

It was definitely winter as had been told to him. And as far as his blue eyes could see, everything was just a blanket of white. So he looked around to see if there was anything he could do or anyone he could help. No luck there so he decided to head back to the fountain and try another direction. It couldn't be all silence and white snow and ice.
And then all of a sudden he turned and saw her. "Namine?"

Bruno Madrigal | Encanto
But even pink snow is cold and a pair of worn sandals by far not the best protection against the cold. Which means that cold feet add themself to confusion, irritation, the feeling of being utterly lost and- Alone.
Casting an accusing glance back at that hovering orb that had beckoned him closer earlier, Bruno pulls the hood of his green ruana over his head and the thin fabric closer around his small frame before muttering to no one in particular. "None of this is true. It's a dream. Nothing but a dream. I will wake up and- and- and- I will wake up!"
As the muttering grows more erratic, Bruno starts to move around the fountain plaza aimlessly, not knowing where to go or hide, but very much not wanting to stay out in the cold.
Netwo- uh, never mind.

Conan Edogawa/Shinichi Kudo | Detective Conan
Honestly, waking up in a strange place had happened enough in Shinichi's life that he didn't even consider it unusual anymore. Really, it was just an annoyance. He had to quickly piece together what he'd been doing previously and how he ended up in the weird place.
His usually method of piecing things together has fallen short this time as there's very little he can tell himself to make this make sense. He'd already ruled out that he was dreaming and since that was out that meant this all had to be real. Agra 10, his brain supplies. He lets out a breath and pulls is blue blazer in a little closer as it dawns on him just how cold he is. Well, at least he can play the cold little kid card to gain sympathy and hopefully get some questions answered.
He's pretty sure he heard people off in the distance somewhere so he puts on his best 'lost little kid' face and moves in the direction he thinks he heard someone in.
Network
[ Shinichi's always been a quick learner so it takes no time at all to master a new communication device. He's also quick to figure out that a communication network likely meant people. Maybe someone he knew was around? ]
Um! I'm Edogawa Conan and I just showed up here. It's a little cold but I was wondering if maybe someone had seen a Japanese girl with dark hair with a lean in her bangs?
[ He makes a triangle point with is hands, holding them up to his forehead to indicate Ran's hairstyle. ]
Streets!
A girl is found playing in the snow. She looks to be at least in her preteens, perhaps even early teens at most. The hood of her coat's fallen back but she doesn't seem to mind too much as she stoops down to scoop up some of the snow in her gloved hands, tossing it towards...a green cat?
