WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Winter in Temba and Sh'Ka
And it still keeps snowing.
Over in Sh'Ka, a similar picture has been painted. But being situated within all these tall trees paints a somewhat different picture. A more icy one. All the by now leaf-free trees are covered in a thick layer of ice, as are Sh'Ka's stone-carved buildings. The wind here is harsher than it is in Temba, which has been comparably wind-free.
Please try not to slip and hurt yourself while marveling at either city.
Explore
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Padmé Amidala | Star Wars
Winters are not usually so harsh on Naboo and Padmé finds herself curiously wandering in the snow when there is a small lull. Her body aches in the same way as her heart and she is tired. But life has been returned to her - a gift she doesn't intend on throwing away. Bending down, she scoops up a handful of snow and immediately regrets it, sucking in a sharp, cold breath through her teeth. Tucking her hand against her body, she smiles faintly at her rash desire to touch the icy mixture and begins to take in her surroundings.
What can she expect from this planet? Acquiring a weapon wouldn't be a bad idea, yet she almost feels like she is alone. The snowy world around her is so still and even when she strains her ears, she can't hear anything other than the soft sound of the snow piling up.
(Deep End)
Luck brings her to the bar and she enters it cautiously - and then with relief. The warmth thaws out her frozen limbs and she finds a place to sit, rubbing her hands together. If she is going to find out anything useful, a bar would be a good place to start. So she approaches the first outwardly friendly-looking person and gives them a smile.
"Do you have a moment?"
(Network)
(Technology is nothing new to her and so she learns how to operate the communication's device quickly. However she sticks to text because she doesn't know who could be watching the transmission.)
I have visited many planets, but this one is definitely unique. I am curious; has anyone heard of Naboo? Coruscant? Tatooine? Those are planets from the galaxy I know.
(And they feel farther away than ever.)
Also, where might I acquire a weapon? For protective purposes; I have no desire to hurt anyone.
Network
I recognize those names. Is it safe to assume you have just arrived?
Protection is always a priority here. There is an armory full of functional weaponry, but there is a catch in using them.
[At this time, it's easier to talk of arms than to linger on the fact that someone else from the galaxy is now with them.]
no subject
I have. I suppose it is equally safe to presume you have been here awhile?
What is the catch?
(Their galaxy is popular? They certainly have enough drama for the universe.)
no subject
[A while too long, he thinks, but that isn't important at the moment.]
The weapons are connected to a security datapoint. It is necessary to have that in mind in order to use them.
The alternative is whatever we have on hand outside of the system, which may be a little more practical for the time being.
no subject
I like the alternative. We can't wholly keep ourselves from being monitored, but...
(She like her privacy.)
no subject
Cayde has some extras stowed away and I have a few in case of emergency. Is there any preference?
no subject
(If weapons of that sort exist here, that is.)
no subject
If you want, we can rendezvous so you can be properly armed.
[Because that matters. The Agrii need to understand why they need to protect themselves, but that is another discussion for another day.]
no subject
(She can't be too cautious, but then again, she needs to make allies too and that requires taking some risks.)
Do you know how to find the Deep End?

Although I do have to warn you I will be in full armor.
[He wonders if that sounds awkward, but he'd rather not leave it up to chance.]
no subject
Armor doesn't frighten me.
(It does make it harder for her to read him, but voices can give a lot away.)

Temba!
"Good thing we got those heaters fixed up," he mutters, receiving a hooting beep in response from behind him. The little droid hanging off his back peeks over his shoulder with an inquisitive whistle then, which has the young man looking out ahead as he senses someone else out in the snow.
no subject
"If you're looking for company, I'm over here."
Around the time those last words leave her lips she sees the young man. Well it's good that the little droid isn't alone. She brushes the snow off of her cloak and smiles in welcome.
"I'm relieved to see someone."
no subject
"Name's Cal. And this is BeeDee-One." He gestures over his shoulder a the little droid peeks over, offering a beeping greeting.
no subject
"Nice to meet you, Cal and BeeDee-One." she smiles at him and his little companion, "I'm Padmé. I'm afraid I don't know my way around yet."
And what a place to have to learn on her feet! Especially after... No, she won't think of what happened before. She can't. Not yet.
no subject
"It takes some getting used to, and the snow might make things a little more difficult to navigate by sight, but if you can't work your way around by the map, then you can always ask," Cal replies, hesitating a moment. "...you're...Senator Amidala, aren't you?"
no subject
"Thank you for the reassurance." she suppresses a small shiver, tucking back a loose curl of dark hair. Being recognized is somewhat surprising and she tilts her head, nodding slowly.
"I am. Or...I was." yes, the latter is more correct, "How do you know about me?"
no subject
At the woman's curious confirmation, Cal nods. He slowly brings his hand to his side, drawing back the worn hem of his poncho to reveal the hilt of the lightsaber hanging at his belt. It's longer than a standard single blade, slightly longer than his forearm.
"There's a diner nearby. It'll be warmer than standing around out here," he suggests.
no subject
Or is it? She takes in the lightsaber, expression torn yet...brighter. The sorrow she carries won't ever dissipate, but it is good to see a Jedi. Her affection for that Order hasn't diminished.
They tried. What more could any of them do?
"Yes, that sounds nice." she moves to his side, indicating her acceptance of the secret he has shared with her, "Are you a Jedi?"
no subject
"Padawan," Cal admits as he begins to lead the way. "I lost my master when...when it all happened." He's probably gone through enough trials since to qualify as a Jedi Knight now, but there's no one here to bestow that title on him anymore. It's not something he minds too much, it doesn't affect what he's able to do and how he can help others, and that's far more important.
no subject
Padmé tilts her head to mimic the little droid before gently setting a hand on BD-1's head.
"I am so sorry." her attention turns back to Cal, tears shimmering in her eyes, "I'm grateful to have run into you. The Jedi mean...a lot...to me. What happened to them was unforgivably cruel and unjust."
no subject
Even without looking over at her he can sense the emotion, the sadness that resonates with himself. It's never far when he thinks about the past, the pain always fresh even though he's come to accept his failed responsibilities the day he'd lost his master. He eventually glances over at Padmé, perhaps unprepared for the unshed tears he sees there for the way his eyes slip away again.
"I wish things could have gone differently," he says quietly, shaking his head as he knows wishing doesn't change anything. "It's...probably going to sound crazy, but that was five years ago- for me."
no subject
Or is it? She smiles faintly at the laughter. BD-1 reminds her so much of Artoo Detoo. Maybe there are still good people and droids that can be depended upon for the future.
She prays that is the case. Especially for her twins.
"As do I." she gently takes hold of his arm, finding comfort in physical contact, "Five years? What has changed for you? Are you safe?"
