SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
While the snow has disappeared, the glitter it appears to have turned into remains. Small red, pink, white and purple particles, some in the shapes of stars and little hearts (both realistic and stylized) are covering Temba in a sparkling blanket just as the snow had before. Walking through it will send glittering swirls of it into the air to settle back on the ground again gently.

Despite the sparkling cover, young plants have begun to sprout, young green stems peeking out between pink and red and purple.

Sh'Ka, also, has been freed of its more icy coverage. The glitter here is a lot finer and the layer of it covering the overgrown city not nearly as thick as in Temba. Instead, the glittery mist every move brushes up in the air hangs there much longer and seems reluctant, even, to settle back down.

Despite those differences both cities are currently very, very sparkly...

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

firstdefense: (Human diagnostics)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-14 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Not all human, but humanoid perhaps. JARVIS makes a file and puts the readings in it labeled as 'UNKNOWN: HELMETED' for now. Which gets changed upon the other half of the introductions. 'FELWINTER' the file now reads.

Temba. On the planet Agra Ten. More notes, more files. Information to categorize and give the AI is sense of purpose back. Unable to connect to any of the home databases that gave him a sense of security, JARVIS felt like he was... well, floundering a little. Attempting to put the new unknown chaos back into order.

"That is unfortunate. Mr. Felwinter, I am presuming there is no way to leave this planet to get back to my own, is there? Back to Earth, specifically. As comfortable as this suit is to wear," the suit seems to look down at the metal hands that move under the AI's command, then he looks back to Felwinter. "It fits Mr. Stark far better and I miss the comfort of my database."
tyrants_son: (it's raining warsats)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-14 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah, so you are associated with Stark," Felwinter observes, but the latter point mentioned does not go unnoticed. "Your database? You are not normally... mobile?"

His stance eases just slightly, but he remains guarded as he resumes answering JARVIS's other inquiries, shaking his head. "Although there are shuttles available to us, they do not function unless the Agrii allow it, so I have been told. Otherwise we are rather stuck."
firstdefense: (Mark XLII - Sitting/Relaxing)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-14 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am very much mobile, but while in the suit, Mr. Stark is usually in it with me." There's more mechanical sounds as pieces and parts shift and open to reveal an empty suit that looks like it would fit perfectly around Tony Stark, with perhaps places for his ego to slip into for comfort. The noises happen again as the suit closes back up.

"I am his first line of defense for his system, and for him, essentially. That is, where I am from I fill that role. I cannot do that for him while stuck here." And without his connection to his Tony, that's what has the AI feeling like something was missing. For his entire life all he has known at the base of it, is Tony.

"Also unfortunate. Who are the Agrii? Is there a place where I met be able to connect to speak with them? Or just go see them in metaphorical person?"
tyrants_son: (thinky thoughts)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-14 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The warlord folds his arms as he considers these things. He can't help but feel somewhat unsettled as JARVIS reveals his empty interior, although he isn't sure what would prompt such a feeling. But this is an AI, clearly, one given extra mobility with this armor suit. Normally for support, given what else the AI says.

"The Agrii are the original inhabitants of this city. There is little enough known about them that isn't provided in the datapoint in the city square, as they do not show themselves in person. I can count the number of times they have appeared on the local network on one hand. As I understand, correspondence is not always guaranteed when trying to reach out to them, and yet they remain hopeful that those 'he rows' they have brought here to their home will help to restore it for them."
firstdefense: (Data Cube)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-14 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
A datapoint. Was that something he could connect to? JARVIS hoped so, to be able to get his bearings a little more grounded at this point. Especially if what Felwinter was saying and the inhabitants of the planet were just... difficult to get to for an audience. And a 'he row'? He row, he row, he row where? It takes a moment puzzle out that it's supposed to be 'hero' instead of a pronoun and verb.

"I suppose they have no physical location then for me to meet with them at. There are just many unfortunate things here, aren't there."

"From what I have heard, they have a ship. I cannot be sure of its exact whereabouts, although it is suggested that they are within the vicinity of this planet." Felwinter offers a shrug. He dislikes relaying rumors but all the information he has are whatever has been shared to him from others that have been here, and experience is more the factor than hard evidence.
firstdefense: (Mark XLII - Online/Attentive)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-14 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"A ship, in space I presume, since you stated 'within the vicinity of this planet'. I do have the means to go into space with this suit given that I don't need some of the harder to find resources in space. Such as oxygen. I consider that a slight bonus given the circumstances, Mr. Felwinter."

The suit seems to look over Felwinter, despite not needing to. "What sort of world do you hail from, sir? Is it this one?"
tyrants_son: (thinky thoughts)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-14 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The warlord cants his head. "Indeed." He looks thoughtfully at JARVIS. So he could potentially break atmosphere. Interesting.

The sound he makes is an amused one then, a faint snort that echoes just as much as the tinny tone of his voice, although it's easy to think that would be due to the helmet. "Far from it. I too am from Earth," he replies.
firstdefense: (Information - Measurements)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-14 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
JARVIS wanted to immediately retort that it couldn't be possible since there was no one, to the AI's recollection, that dressed in such a fashion as Mr. Felwinter. But he didn't say it. Different worlds, which meant different timelines as well. So this man could easily be from a different butterfly effect world from his own.

"Your Earth must be quite different from mine, or you come from a remote culture that I've not been able to access with your interesting... garb." Yes, that was a good word for it. Not insulting.
tyrants_son: (...)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-14 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
At least he does not insult easily. His tone in general only dabbles at the edges of expressing emotions.

"One does what one can with whatever one finds available to them," Felwinter replies. "By my understanding there are perhaps several different iterations of Earth at least, represented by those brought here. I assume if you are of the same Earth as Tony Stark, then you do not know of the Golden Age, or the Traveler and the Risen?"
firstdefense: (Information - News)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-19 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Several... iterations. Right, a multi-verse timeline. "I am from Earth, made by Mr. Stark, but it seems the one that is present in the city is not the one that I know of. He seems to be very... different." JARVIS was still certain that the universe couldn't really handle more than one, but maybe this was the universe's way of proving him wrong.

"I do not know of the Golden Age, the Risen, or the Traveler though. Which brings me to the conclusion that they're not from my version of Earth. I presume those are from your interation?"
tyrants_son: (it's raining warsats)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-19 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That makes Felwinter wonder about the differences between Tony Starks. Is there one that isn't so insolent? But then perhaps that isn't quite the word. Stark is a mask wearer as much as himself, although the man is still very much an eccentric when it comes to his curiosity about technological builds. "Is it normal for him to ask if he can take you apart?" he can't help but ask.

A nod then. "I am most likely not from the same Earth as you know. Perhaps it is a good thing. The time I come from is not a kind one for humanity."
firstdefense: (Mark XLII - Sitting/Relaxing)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-23 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, I don't think it is. He'd be interested in studying, perhaps having me scan whomever it would be, but I don't think he'd want to take someone apart, no. Though at least he asked permission instead of presuming the answer would be yes and doing it anyways."

A pause as the suit regards Felwinter. "I'm presuming there is a Mr. Stark here that asked if he could take you apart? That is rather rude in my opinion."

He took a couple of careful steps towards the other, hands open and palm up to show he had nothing in them. Okay so the gauntlets could fire off if he wanted to, but JARVIS didn't plan on doing that at least. "Is your Earth one of the ones you listed?"
tyrants_son: (*jiiii*)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-23 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not necessarily so bluntly, but it more or less amounts to the same," Felwinter shrugs. "But yes, there is one such man here. I do not think I would call him rude, exactly, just very forward. And strange."

As JARVIS moves, the warlord watches him like a hawk, though he remains where he is himself. "My Earth is of all those I have mentioned. The Golden Age came of the discovery of the Traveler. New technology was created, humans ventured beyond their homeworld and throughout the Sol System. ...but all they have created is now in ruins. So the Traveler has brought forth the Risen, for some reason, from the ashes of humanity."
firstdefense: (Scanning Shit)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-24 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Very forward and strange does sound a little like Mr. Stark if you're not accustomed to... interacting with him." He was very close in saying 'dealing' with him instead 'interacting'. But JARVIS knew better.

The Golden Age. The Traveler. The Risen. "I will be very honest, that all sounds quite a bit like something I would get from a piece of media. But I suppose I cannot speak too loudly, being an advanced AI that's currently 'living' from a metal suit." The suit stops, feet away from Felwinter to be polite. No need to crowd on the man's space. "I am sorry that your world has become like that. My world has the Avengers to help protect it."
tyrants_son: (contemplative)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-24 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
An advanced AI living in a metal suit. Isn't that pretty much what he would be? You're something different, Felspring had told him. But for what reason?

Felwinter slowly reaches up, removing his helmet to reveal the skull-like metal features of his robotic face. He shakes his head. "Perhaps that is what my world needs now. Protectors rather than warlords. What are these...Avengers?" He would be lying if he did not admit he liked the sound of the name, just a little.
firstdefense: (Mark XLII - Online/Attentive)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-25 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
As soon as the helmet is removed, the suit is already running scans to update the information already gathered. Nice and neat into files. Just how JARVIS likes it. Someone had to be the overly organized and efficient one in the workshop.

And he's only seen images after coming back online, but the suit seems to stop. That... that face looks hauntingly familiar to Ultron. The physical form he had given himself after decimating JARVIS inside of the system. After taking out Tony's first line of defense.

But this wasn't Ultron. This was Felwinter. And so far the man had proven trust by not harming him. The suit relaxes a little. "They are Earth's protectors, formed after the Battle of New York City where they defeated Loki and retrieved the Tesseract to return to Asgard."
tyrants_son: (exo skull)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-25 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ultron probably displays more emotions than Felwinter does, reserved as the Exo seems to be in his interactions. Those optics, now unshielded and unhidden from behind his helmet stare openly at the Iron Man suit before him, as though those burning optics are trying to peel apart the layers of metal of an otherwise empty shell. No, not empty. Someone inhabits it, and denying JARVIS to be a someone would be to deny himself the same.

There's just the faintest creak of leather as he eases his gloved fingers from where he had started to curl them into a fist, seeing JARVIS relax.

"Earth's protectors..." Brought together by a battle, a common goal for a common need. "Are there many of these...Avengers?" Protecting the Earth sounds like a big job, after all.
firstdefense: (Mark XLII - Sitting/Relaxing)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-28 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
JARVIS may not think of himself as a person like Felwinter did, but he was. The attack from Ultron had proven it enough. Emulated emotions or not, he was a real person just without the physical form of one. But he had one right now with the suit, which was enough.

"Enough to keep the Earth safe from an invading army over New York City in 2012 at least. Six of them: Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor, and Hulk. And then there were smaller scale ordeals, such as the Mandarin that Mr. Stark and Miss Potts dealt with, but overall... they work as a team to try and keep it safe. Is there anyone like that from the Earth you are from, sir?"
tyrants_son: (intensity)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-28 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Six does not seem a great number," Felwinter mused, although he doesn't sound like he doubts the skills of those JARVIS speaks of. "They faced an entire army? They must be very strong." And brave, but then bravery comes with necessity sometimes. Still, he will not doubt such heroes.

Is there anyone like that from the Earth you are from, sir? The warlord looks towards the ground in thought. "As things are now, warlords either act independently or gather together to take advantage of the weak and powerless." His fingers tap against the edge of his helmet. "...I have heard rumors of a few who have deviated from such ways and come together. Perhaps..."
firstdefense: (Downlink/Map)

[personal profile] firstdefense 2022-03-29 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Indeed it does not. But sometimes it takes merely one to stand up to another to rally the courage in others. The army came through a dimensional portal where Mr. Stark flew through with a missile and fell back through to our earth. The missile took out the army, and the apparent mothership as they disabled immediately. Mr. Stark almost died in the process, nearly sacrificing himself for the world's safety."

JARVIS moves a little closer, more at a meandering walk instead of something imposing. Once close enough, the suit... sits. It looks like a metal person pondering some sort of philosophical idea as it sits there. "Warlords are unheard of in my time on earth. Though the ones you speak of that deviated... perhaps those are to form the Avengers of your world."
tyrants_son: (exo skull)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2022-03-30 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Self-sacrifice. Felwinter lifts his head towards the skies as though he can see this portal, the events as JARVIS describes. It may not be the same Tony Stark that is here, but he does not think that such a decision to act would be far from this one either.

His burning gaze twitches back towards the suit of armor as it moves to sit, once again forcing himself to ease from his tension. "Yes. Perhaps. They could make a difference."
