SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
While the snow has disappeared, the glitter it appears to have turned into remains. Small red, pink, white and purple particles, some in the shapes of stars and little hearts (both realistic and stylized) are covering Temba in a sparkling blanket just as the snow had before. Walking through it will send glittering swirls of it into the air to settle back on the ground again gently.

Despite the sparkling cover, young plants have begun to sprout, young green stems peeking out between pink and red and purple.

Sh'Ka, also, has been freed of its more icy coverage. The glitter here is a lot finer and the layer of it covering the overgrown city not nearly as thick as in Temba. Instead, the glittery mist every move brushes up in the air hangs there much longer and seems reluctant, even, to settle back down.

Despite those differences both cities are currently very, very sparkly...

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

james rogers ( next avengers AU )

[personal profile] bastioned 2022-04-11 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
SHIPS
[ james has been doing the avengers thing long enough now that he just takes for granted that every day is going to throw something new and potentially deadly at him, so he pretty much hits the ground running when he wakes up on another planet. the download was.. weird, but not as weird as most of his life, honestly, and at least this was a helpful sort of weird.

anyway, he has shit to do and the first thing on his list is leaving. no offense to the locals or anything, but he can only deal with one post-apocalyptic world at a time, and his is still in worse shape. so of course it doesn't take him long to find the hangar, and even less time to realize that there's something weird about the whole arrangement.

he turns to the first person he sees coming or going, reaching out with an arm to catch their attention and halt them. in a uniform that's mostly black leather, his red hair and the red, white, and blue shield slung over his back probably stand out like targets. ]
Hey, is there some reason we're all sticking around here? I mean, do these ships not have the legs to get out of the system or what?

NETWORK
it's cap. avengers, if you're here, check in.
thanks.

[ ooc: info about james and his AU is located in his journal if you're curious! ]

Ships - Also, I just LOVE James and all his baggage. that's a great comics run. Applause here

[It's not always easy to pick out, much less stop a speedster all up in their business. Good thing Tommy, with a bag of laundry over his shoulder, actually has to physically wait for the damn door to the Twin Roses to open. Which of course means he catches sight of the person approaching.

What he isn't expecting is to see them with that Shield.. In fact, it makes him ignore the other questions and put his bag down.]

Yeah, more important than that, who are you, to be carrying Cap's shield around like it's nothing?

[You know, other than hot as fuck, but whatever, that's not the important thing by any stretch of the imagination.]

Because I've known a lot of people who carried that thing, but none were gingers. Unless Bucky Barnes secretly dyes his hair, which I super doubt. I've seen enough versions of Scruffy around here to not buy that idea at all.

[ he gives the stranger a long stare, expression impassive, taking in the sight of the white hair and considering his familiarity with the shield (but not with james himself). he has a few guesses about what that could mean, but it feels safer not to assume anything just yet. ]

Well, now you know a redhead Cap that carries the shield. [ it occurs to him that maybe he works too much as he struggles to turn off captain america and blow the dust off james. god, who even is james these days? he never has time just to himself-- if he's not out on a mission, he's doing paperwork or training or training others. he knows his family worries, but what other options do they really have? ]

James Rogers, [ he adds a moment later, belated, and jerks his chin toward the other man. ] Did you say Bucky Barnes is here? [ guess he really has to reevaluate his initial impressions of the power that brought him here. ]

[Points to James for avoiding assumptions. Maximoff speedsters are shit at that. Really shit. Still his eyebrow goes up, just a little bit. He's heard of this, right? Maybe? There's a little tickle in the back of his mind from that time he was in space with Noh-Varr but... Nope, he's not getting more than the tickle. Huh, weird.]

Yeah, we're currently down to only two Scruffies. There's one back during his old 'I'm an evil weapon' days, and one from the 'I'm a noble fighter for the memory of Steve Rogers' phase. You can tell them apart because 'grr weapon' has the normal metal arm, and the 'noble scruff for good' has the Vibranium one, black and gold of course, full Wakandan fashion statement. Figure he must have done something really badass to get T'Challa to let him have a piece of tech like that.

[Actually, now he's smirking.]

There's also a Steve here. Pre-serum. He looks like a squishy baby. Oh, and of course there's B and me, but we're a slightly different universe. And Tony Stark, but he's our Universe too. And the Kree soldier lady.

[He finally makes up his mind and thrusts his hands out.]

Tommy Shepherd. Avenger. More or less. Welcome to the mess, don't shout assemble, it ain't gonna get you far here, Cap'n Spice
Edited (sorry, tommy tends to give nicknames, and coming up with captain america ones is an important job) 2022-04-11 18:14 (UTC)

[ jesus christ, this kid just keeps talking and talking. either he's the world's most ADHD more-or-less avenger, or the running mouth is built in with some kind of powers. he's never heard of tommy shepherd, though, so he.. probably didn't exist in james' world..? either way, he's from the older set, he guesses, so way before james's time.

it.. hurts to hear that some version of his fathers are here. he never really got to meet steve, and tony-- tony's getting frail these days. he doesn't like to contemplate a day where they no longer have him, has a hard time imagining him before ultron won in their world. ]

If you're going to give me a weird nickname, come up with something better than Captain Spice. The red hair is low-hanging fruit. [ even in the wasteland that's earth, he's heard the usual shit, usually from francis. someone, he often reminds james, still needs to be willing to tease cap. ] Did you have an answer to my question?
doubled_speed: (Open Mouth Insert Foot)

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2022-04-11 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wow, excuse. He's a speedster. Which actually means that Tommy's one of the most patient people ever born to even interact with other people. Not his fault that he thinks at speeds that make some computers envious.]

Low hanging, yeah, but come on, I call the Buckies Scruffy. I call my brother Billiam. It's more amusing when it's low hanging. And a guy could do worse than a nickname from his hair. You don't want me to do worse, do you? What about Captain Legacy? Because that's just dull.

[What, hadn't he answered the question?]

Which question? I answered the Bucky Barnes one? Did you ask another one? Must have been hours ago.

Call like that might not get the response you want.

just what sort of response are you expecting it to get?

You'll get some positives, but not all from the same place or time. Depending on who you're looking for, might not be what you wanted to hear.

[ ah. ] so there IS some alt-universe stuff going on here.
it's fine, it's probably a good idea to figure out who's here from what generation, anyway.
