SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
While the snow has disappeared, the glitter it appears to have turned into remains. Small red, pink, white and purple particles, some in the shapes of stars and little hearts (both realistic and stylized) are covering Temba in a sparkling blanket just as the snow had before. Walking through it will send glittering swirls of it into the air to settle back on the ground again gently.

Despite the sparkling cover, young plants have begun to sprout, young green stems peeking out between pink and red and purple.

Sh'Ka, also, has been freed of its more icy coverage. The glitter here is a lot finer and the layer of it covering the overgrown city not nearly as thick as in Temba. Instead, the glittery mist every move brushes up in the air hangs there much longer and seems reluctant, even, to settle back down.

Despite those differences both cities are currently very, very sparkly...

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

"You never wanted something more than what life gave you?" Ed posed with an arched brow, shrugging a shoulder and waving it off. "Nah. You're right. It's stupid."
buildingitsir: (talking; thumbs point)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2022-04-29 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"I do, actually. In my world, I'm a lesser being. No rights, just expected obedience when a human orders me to do something. I want what they have. I want that freedom. But I know what it is. I don't understand how someone could want something they don't know anything about. I asked what summer linens are and you said 'no fuckin' clue." A shrugged shoulder of his own.

"I don't think it's stupid."

"I mean...they're linens. For summer," he replied plainly. He knew that much. It was the need for them in a pirates life that was curious and fucking fascinating.

He gestured at himself and his state of dress, as though it should be obvious why this was something he didn't really understand.
buildingitsir: (mischievious;here to fuck your shit up)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2022-04-29 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't have a need for comforts like humans do so I thought maybe there was a difference. My parents would probably know. We live in a colder part of the country."

York looked over the leathers and thick fabrics Ed was sporting. "Maybe summer linens help graybeards get glitter out of their hair."

ed completely changing the subject, sorry

[personal profile] saltnpepperbeard 2022-04-30 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Ed snapped suddenly, pointing at York as he made a connection that was easier for his brain to understand than machines. "You're like that little wooden boy from the story Stede was always reading to the crew!" he concluded, looking quite proud of himself.

buildingitsir: (huh; wait what)

ed pls

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2022-04-30 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
York jerked back at the sudden point and exclamation. Then squinted at the pirate. Was he… did… Yes. Apparently he did.

"Did you just indirectly call me Pinnochio?" The android wasn't sure if he should be impressed or insulted. He defaulted to the latter. Because of course he did. "I'm not a boy, you bearded fuckface even if I'm smaller than you." Even as he said it, a grin crept onto his face.

"What would be worse: me being an animated wooden doll or a ghost?"

[personal profile] saltnpepperbeard 2022-04-30 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, that was his name," Ed grinned, and then paused, blinking as York lectured him. "Ah, girl, sorry," he flipped naturally.

"Mm, both are pretty interesting actually," he said with a shrug, "Ghost means no fairy." And that his father might be out there somewhere waiting for him.
buildingitsir: (arguing up front; chastizing)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2022-04-30 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That remark gets a good bristling out of York, like a damn cat. "Yeah, I'm definitely not a girl, Edwardine Greybeard," he finally snaps, crossing his arms stiffly over his chest. Bad enough being referred to as 'little'.

"Well I'm not either. I'm a fucking android, not a wooden doll, and not a fairy." He couldn't outright say 'I'm a man' because that's what all male teenagers at this physical age said and it would be dismissed.

[personal profile] saltnpepperbeard 2022-04-30 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"A they then?" Was that what was getting them so testy?

"You wouldn't be the fairy, she's the one that brings him to life," Ed dismissed with a pointed look.
buildingitsir: (spicy boi; angey)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2022-04-30 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, no! I'm a guy!" Finally York snapped up at Ed. "I'm a fucking mid-twenty year old stuck in the wrong goddamn body! I'm not little and I'm not a girl!"

The rest of the conversation was lost to him in the anger surging through his thirium, his programming jittering around in his view as it struggled against the emulation that always overtook the logical programming he had broken.

"..." Ed looked him over, the very childlike body, the very childlike outburst, before giving a faint shrug.

"...All right mate," he agreed casually.
buildingitsir: (scolded; quiet; somber)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2022-04-30 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The pump in his chest felt like it was hammering far faster than it needed to. He didn't need that fight or flight line to kick in now of all times. When there was no rebuttal, no argument that York isn't what he said he is, some of the anger seemed to steam out. There is a bit of steamed breath he let out. His system was running hot.

Did Ed actually believe him? He pulled the hood up to cover his face in shadow. "...I should probably go."
saltnpepperbeard: (Default)

[personal profile] saltnpepperbeard 2022-04-30 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Right, yeah," Ed agreed, kicking at the ground and looking around, not sure where he was going to go in this strange place, but putting on a totally casual and unaffected attitude.

"Good talk."
buildingitsir: (hoodie; pulling up)

[personal profile] buildingitsir 2022-04-30 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Terrible talk actually." Now there was no sting, just a softer tone laced with frustration.

"There's a hotel you can stay in nearby if you need a place to stay." York thought about his next words carefully, trying to find a way to explain to this 1700s pirate. "A hotel is an inn. It's free. Also there's a diner - like a tavern - you can get meals at."

[personal profile] saltnpepperbeard 2022-05-03 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ed silently pointed, looking for a direction to start walking.
