Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka

While the snow has disappeared, the glitter it appears to have turned into remains. Small red, pink, white and purple particles, some in the shapes of stars and little hearts (both realistic and stylized) are covering Temba in a sparkling blanket just as the snow had before. Walking through it will send glittering swirls of it into the air to settle back on the ground again gently.

Despite the sparkling cover, young plants have begun to sprout, young green stems peeking out between pink and red and purple.

Sh'Ka, also, has been freed of its more icy coverage. The glitter here is a lot finer and the layer of it covering the overgrown city not nearly as thick as in Temba. Instead, the glittery mist every move brushes up in the air hangs there much longer and seems reluctant, even, to settle back down.

Despite those differences both cities are currently very, very sparkly...

Explore the city Temba!

Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!

That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

Try the network!

Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

So...Steven. You touch the glowy orb thing yet? Get all that info dump?

[That also takes a load off of his shoulders, the sigh evident in his awkward chuckling.]

Oh! Good. Okay.

The glowy orb thing? [He snaps his fingers, pointing somewhere behind him.] Oh, you mean- yes, I did!! Kind of like The Matrix, but not? But I touched it and it was awful, never want to do that again.

[That earns a smile, and Bucky nods with a chuckle of his own.]

Whole hearted agreement here, trust me.

There's others. Other data points that will help you with certain skills. They won't compel you the way that one does. But from what I've heard it's a similar experience.

Yeah, definitely going to avoid those, then. I like my head to not feel like it's going to explode.

Some of them fill in the gaps for the alien world. Agriculture gives you information about the plants and animals, and all of that.

And certain things can't be understood without them, even if you have skills that should be transferable. Without the Security Data Point the guns shoot wild, or backfire. Things like that.

Honestly, not much does with them.

Okay, that's where it diverges. Hold on, I thought the storms were the enemy? Or are we talking actual enemies...?

Actual enemies. The storms are...more of a symptom. A weapon. It was used against the Agrii. The ones who control the storms or...started the storms...however it works, they're who we need to stop to really end things.

There's a theory a couple of people share about who might be behind it. Some other group of aliens that used to pull the same kind of scheme. Pulling people from different worlds. Only they televised it or something. It was all some sort of...game?"

Honestly, Bucky wasn't really clear on what had gone down.

"There's a few people here who were around for that, the rest of us came in the same as you."

So we have a potential Hunger Games situation here. That's something to look forward to!

[Steven, of course, is not thrilled by the prospect if that's the case.]

Um, actually - speaking of people, how many of them are here? Or, more accurately, how many are still around?

Mm, well, they don't seem to want us to kill each other. We learned that recently.

[Isn't that comforting?]

Around forty? People get sent home without warning, but we've been hovering around that number for a while.

[There's irony in that statement, but he's not going to think about it.]

[Bucky laughs again and smiles.]

You find the hotel yet? Newbies usually stay there.

No, but- is that it? Over there?

[He's pointing to a building off-screen, wandering in that direction shortly afterward.]

Should be. It's hard to miss. I'd try and grab a room on one of the lower levels. People will have cleared more of those ones out, and if the floor gives way you don't have as far to fall.

[Is he joking?]

Few people run a diner if you're looking for a hot meal. And ships have...well it's edible, but I'd stick with the diner. Cayde runs a bar if you're looking for something stronger; lots of people are their first night.

[He wheezes a laugh, but that peters out when he realizes it may not be a joke.]

All the more reason to check and see, yeah? Because I rather like having my feet on the ground.

A diner, though. And a bar? Huh! Fancy that. [A beat.] By any chance do they serve vegan meals? Just curious.

It's nothing fancy, but it's something.

[That...takes a moments thought. It's never something he's really considered, but eventually Bucky nods.]

Yeah? I think so. Most of what we've got to work with is plant based, you should be all right there. Maybe steer clear of the protein gel in the ships. At least until you can get some kind of info on what they're made of.

Oh! Yeah, that's good news. Protein gel doesn't really sound appetizing, but that's something to keep in mind...

It tastes about as appetizing as it sounds. But it's food at least.

There's a big hangar. I can pinpoint it for you on the map.
