SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
Despite the sparkling cover, young plants have begun to sprout, young green stems peeking out between pink and red and purple.
Sh'Ka, also, has been freed of its more icy coverage. The glitter here is a lot finer and the layer of it covering the overgrown city not nearly as thick as in Temba. Instead, the glittery mist every move brushes up in the air hangs there much longer and seems reluctant, even, to settle back down.
Despite those differences both cities are currently very, very sparkly...

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Mixed feelings. That was what he had about the whole situation. He wished he was there for a different reason than the one he had currently, but now he and Marc were nowhere near there. He did try to smile again for the Billy's sake. "It's...not okay. But can't do anything about it now."

"Which I know sounds crazy, everything about this place sounds crazy, but...it's true."
no subject
With this new reality setting in, Steven felt like he was deflating. He sat there for a while, mulling over everything before he eventually nodded. "I believe you," he replied quietly, letting his gaze fall onto the water's surface. "Crazy sounds about right."
no subject
When Steven looked over he'd see his reflection still looking in Billy's direction, uncertain, just as lost. Maybe looking for any hint that maybe Billy was just conjuring up this explanation as easily as he had that towel. Bad enough you become indebted to an Egyptian god and suddenly stolen away from trying to stop another one from killing a bunch of people. Being kidnapped was not something they needed right now. It was terribly convenient to think that things would be just where they left it whenever they got back. If they got back. It wouldn't be difficult for Steven to wonder where Marc's thoughts were then as the man in the reflection closed his eyes, drawing in a slow breath like he'd just remembered to do so.
...how does he know? he finally asked. Has he gone back? If people go back how's anyone here know for sure that the world hasn't ended on the other side?

The teen's voice forced him to refocus, blinking as he commiserated and tried to offer as much as he could. And Steven sat there, jaw clicking as he let his gaze drop onto a worn patch on the ground.
"...Have you ever had the chance of returning?" Out of ten million, Marc's questions were a good place to start. "Back to your world?" He looked up again, searching for something, anything to assuage the fear he had in the back of his mind. "Has anyone else ever done the same?"
no subject
How long's he been here anyway? he wondered.

To hear people coming and going at whim was troubling. Things were more complicated than he thought it would be.
"That has to be- " Infuriating? Enough to drive someone insane? "-confusing."
no subject
He fidgeted but waited as Steven went ahead with his prompts, looking over at Billy, half afraid to find out what the answer would be.
no subject
"It's...hard sometimes," he admitted, but he put on a smile, "I've got family here so...it could be worse." Oh. Shit. That was rude. "But um...everyone's really nice for the most part. And we all look out for each other, so...you'll be fine. Promise."
no subject
He knew Billy didn't mean to be rude, but it still stung. He didn't know anyone except for Marc, but there was a little comfort in learning that everyone was nice to an extent. "I...guess I'll look forward to meeting everyone, eventually. Even the new versions." Tilting his head to the side, the man lifted his brow slightly. "Although I don't think I quite understand what you mean by that..."
no subject
Again he was left without a follow-up, listening as Steven managed to resume the conversation. Okay, maybe he could be a little proud of him for doing that much.
no subject
"Um, well sometimes after someone would go home, they'll show up again and they'll have their memories of before. Other times, they'll swear they've never been here. And then there's...um...well where I'm from they call it the multiverse. Different versions of the universe, all playing out. The same faces, some of the same paths. We've had a lot of cross over with that too. Version of people from a world like ours, but...not quite."
no subject
He mused over the very idea of it, intrigued and yet slightly horrified that there were even different versions of people and places alike. And to think that they would all arrive either remembering or forgetting they had ever been here was much like trying to figure out what was real and what wasn't.
Again he shared a look with the reflection in the fountain, his mouth forming a thin line before he spoke again. "But that kind of, um, issue, doesn't happen frequently?"
no subject
Maybe let's stick to relevant subjects, he suggested. Out-of-this-world situation, kidnapped by aliens, undetermined stay, no simple way home- got it. Anything out there that'll kill us?
no subject
"No, not too often," he promised. "So, hey, do you want a change of clothes or anything? I can uh...whip up anything you think you might need, you know...until you get settled?"
no subject
Before he got too lost in that thought, he twitched. "-Um. This is more of my point of reference, but is there anything I need to be aware of that could potentially harm me? Like, giant alien beasts or anything like that? Or are there areas that are deemed off-limits?" His hand jumped from space to space, like it was placing an invisible bowl in another spot on a table.
no subject
At least Steven hadn't outright ignored his suggestion, so he sat quietly, nodding.
no subject
"That work, or do you want any different colours or...styles or anything?"
Ah. That was...a good question. Billy flushed.
"Stay in the main city and you should usually be okay. The woods have some scary things. And if there's a storm and you see someone you know from back home...it's probably not them. So don't go following after them."
no subject
While he studied the material, he showed he was listening, nodding as Billy gave them an answer. "Stay in the main city, got it," he echoed, hoping Marc would keep that in mind because they didn't know what was out there. They barely even knew what was in the city. But that last part made him glance upward, arching a brow in question. "-The storms do that?"
no subject
He stroked his chin as he also studied the things, as though expecting it to vanish at Steven's touch. He lifted his head with only the briefest scowl, but offered a nod in understanding. Best they play it safe. They didn't even have any weapons. That'd be something else to look into. Marc almost missed the part concerning the storms when he recalled that they were essentially what they were supposedly here for.
They do that? he asked almost simultaneously, expression opposite Steven's as his brow deepened into a frown.
no subject
He nods, twisting a face. "...Yeah. Sometimes at least. They also take away your powers. If you have any; not everyone does."
no subject
Should he say anything about that? About how he and Marc used to have powers?
"Yeah. Yeah, I can see how that can be quite a large nuisance. For super-powered people."
