SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Summer in Temba and Sh'Ka
Summer is a growing season, which seems to be going into overdrive this year. Instead of the gradual growth of plants that one might expect over the seasons, plants are starting to grow with an intense energy, and once clear paths in both cities grow choked over with vines, undergrowth, and even new saplings by the day. It might be wise to find some way to clear those paths as you go.

For those that are in a more summer and sun kind of fun, there's always the beach to the south of Temba, where the sand and surf welcome all comers. However here too there is a lot of growth going on, with new reeds and shore grasses rising up, serving as a great place for fat green lobsters to hide and pinch at the unwary.

Or maybe it's better to explore the buildings these days, with how the plants have taken over everything. However one might well find that less commonly used buildings and ruins have their own plant problems. Some are overgrown with fruitbearing vines, and others filled with wide swaths of various forms of mint. Good news there is that the glownies seem to have gotten free, or others have arrived, to feast upon the mintsplosion.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Kaiba's a little Tired of everything. It's been a long, long journey, he's further from home than ever, and the nonsense thrown his way never seems to end. It's so exhausting, in fact, that even a peaceful beach is looking more like a scene from a post-apocalyptic film.

He'd come, dressed in a loose tee, cargo pants, and shades, in the hopes that the sands would block the rampant plant growth and be a place where he could sit and think. Apparently not. Upon observing the green hellscape, he turned on his heel to leave, only for someone to barrel into him with such force that he's nearly knocked over.

"Watch where you're---"

His shades slide down his nose as he tries to glare. Doesn't quite manage it, because...does he know this person? He thinks he does, and when he speaks next his tone is entirely different.

"...Are you...?"

He mouths the name on the tip of his tongue, still stunned by disbelief..

Daia has to blink away his tears for a moment before his vision clears, but that voice certainly sounds familiar. And as he looks up, he can't help but smile.

"Kaiba!" Oh, but that smile quickly gives way to distress. He just crashed into him! "Oh my gosh! I am so, so sorry! Did I hurt you?"

He's able to forget the throbbing pain in his toe long enough to try and look Kaiba over. He does wince a little when he tries to put his weight on it to lean closer, though. But, near as he can tell, Kaiba seems to be fine for the most part. At least on the outside.

He reaches out to touch where he crashed into Kaiba. Hopefully there won't be anything that leads to bruising.

"Daia..."

Kaiba finds his voice again. He even smiles a little---it's good to see him. It takes a moment, but he registers what his old friend is doing and lifts his shirt. Just a little red mark, no big deal. He shakes his head.

"I'm fine. But what happened to you?"

Don't think he didn't notice that flinch.

Kaiba's fine, and that makes Daia happy. But when Kaiba asks what happened to him, it actually makes him recall the events that lead up to the crash.

"Oh, right." He looks back about where he tripped, but with all the green, the lobster is perfectly camouflage in the brush. He doesn't see it or if it's even still there.

"Something pinched me. My toe..."

He looks down at his foot. It's not bleeding, but he can feel it pound in angry retaliation. And it is certainly red. How rude, whatever it was.

Kaiba looks down at the red toe and sighs. That's definitely not good. He looks around them for signs of more biting and pinching creatures, doesn't see them for now...and gently takes Daia's arm, pulling his arm around his shoulder so he can lean on Kaiba's weight.

"Let's go to the water and make a cold compress. I don't have a first aid kit with me."

Daia leans on Kaiba, actually grateful that he doesn't have to put as much weight on his foot as they move to the water. Kaiba's always been so nice to him and he's always appreciated it. Daia glances at the ground nervously, wondering if he can see what pinched him, and if it might try again.

The cold water feels good on his foot when he slides it in, a wave pushing up as if to meet them. Daia can't help but give a sigh of relief. Hopefully the pain will be gone soon.

"Is this another train world?" It has to be, right? But Daia feels like he missed the mission debriefing. Maybe Kaiba can catch him up to speed.

Kaiba gently crouches in front of Daia, getting a good look at his foot. It's red, but no broken skin...would a vampire bleed? He doesn't think so. But he still shouldn't have to suffer.

With that thought, Kaiba reaches into his pocket and finds a clean cloth---that'll do. He wets it in the ocean and wraps it around the toe as a cold compress to try to reduce swelling.

"I don't think so. I've been disconnected for a while. I just...woke up here, alone."

Once he's sure Daia's all right, he sits back on the sand and stretches. The waves lap up against his feet, and he sighs. Okay, he guesses he can handle a little soak.

It's not a train world. But somehow, he and Kaiba ended up here together. He knows not everyone travels to the same places when you're being somehow pulled into new dimensions. After all, Kuro didn't follow him onto the Voidtrecker Express. And Kuro's always found a way to follow him until then.

He wonders where the other train passengers might be, if some of the others got pulled to this world, too. And then he has to push away the internal panic of what if Shishou is here somehow.

He shakes his head vigorously to get rid of the thought. Kaiba's here. He's not alone in a new place to start all over again. He's grateful enough for that.

He sits himself next to Kaiba, fiddling with the corners of the cloth on his toe.

"I hope you weren't alone too long..." He wonders if Kaiba was scared, or sad when he woke up alone. What about Yugi? Did he not make it here, too? But he doesn't dare to ask that aloud. He doesn't want to hurt Kaiba any worse if he's been suffering.

Maybe he'll bake Kaiba more cookies later to cheer him up. It seemed to work well last time.

"I was always alone before the train," Kaiba admits with a shrug. "And for a little while...I was alone there too. I had to learn how to survive on my own."

Not that it hadn't hurt, after he'd foolishly let himself get used to having friends and family. What a mistake.

He loosely drapes his arms over his knees and looks over at his friend. His troubled expression lightens some. "...So you were planning to play in the waves?"
