This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Winter in Temba and Sh'Ka

Winter has arrived on Agra 10 and with it its cold temperatures, sharp winds and, you guessed it, snow. It starts slow and gentle in Temba, but even such gentle snowfall tends to build up and over the course of a few days of constant snowfall, the city has been covered with a white, roughly knee-deep blanket - Unless someone actually remembered to keep some of the paths clear.

And it still keeps snowing. The cold is also causing some of the Shadowpaws to be drawn to the inhabited buildings of Temba in search for shelter. The further away from the library one is, the more likely it gets that they may share one's living space and bless anyone else living there with nightmares. The area around the library remains free of the shadowpaws thanks to the mothcats residing there.

Over in Sh'Ka, a similar picture has been painted. But being situated within all these tall trees paints a somewhat different picture. A more icy one. All the by now leaf-free trees are covered in a thick layer of ice, as are Sh'Ka's stone-carved buildings. The wind here is harsher than it is in Temba, which has been comparably wind-free.

Please try not to slip and hurt yourself while marveling at either city.

Explore ~~the city~~ Temba!

Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!

That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

The two currently crewless ships are open for anyone to step inside and have a look around, maybe even use for a nap.

Try the network!

Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Wildcard!

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

Radley jumps and flinches, moving away from them a bit. He has some ... issues with electricity and the fear of electrocution due to his past.

"... Is there any warning before he lets it out?"

"Guess that makes sense. I mean, animals are usually pretty sharp about sensing things, more so than we are," Cayde nods. These pokemon seem a lot smarter than the usual critters though, at least if Pikachu's anything to go by.

"Aren't many creatures around the city in general, but there are a few. The weather makes it a lot less likely to find anything wandering around out in the snow. Think the most you'll see are the glownies or the mothcats, but they've been moved or migrated indoors."

"Pikachu usually only shocks people if he's upset for some reason. He doesn't like his cheeks or tail being pulled on so as long as you don't do that, he probably won't shock you." Ash explained. "We like to to conserve our energy for Pokemon Battles." Pikachu lets out a noise of agreement, seeming to have forgotten all about being irritated.

"Other than that, you can sometimes see his cheeks spark in a kinda warning, I guess. He doesn't give me much warning though."

"I'll definitely try not to upset him," Radley says.

He frowns a bit. "He shocks you a lot?"

At the moment, he's more focused on that than the comment on Pokemon Battles.

"Glownie and Mothcat, huh? I've never heard of them before. Are they Pokemon?" Ash asks. Pikachu tilts his head in interest. Pokemon or not, they sound cool.

"Where would I find one? Can meet them?" He pressed.

Ash just shrugs and glances at Pikachu who's suddenly looking a little sheepish. "Don't worry, Pikachu knows I can handle it."

"... That's good...."

Although he's not sure how good it really is to know it can be handled. That must mean it happens a lot....

He decides to change the subject. "So, do you guys want some food?" He holds out a menu he's been designing.

The Exo scratches the back of his hooded head. "Well, I'm not all too sure about what classifies something as a pokemon aside from possible elemental affinities, but I'd say these weren't. Pokemon might just be something local to your world."

He brightens though, stepping over to set a hand on Ash's non-Pikachu'd shoulder. "But that you can- meet them, that is. It'll be way warmer for you too. The glownies are over there in that area beside the agricultural center, which is that tall building there," he says, pointing in the given direction. "You can probably see it from here- kind of a stable area? And as for the mothcats, well, they've holed up in the library over that way."

"Whoa, really? I never even considered-but that doesn't make sense. Giratina guards the reverse world and Palkia has the power to open portals to other dimensions- how could it be that ours is the only world with Pokemon?" He thinks about it for about two seconds before it gets shoved to the side. "I'm probably thinkin' about it too hard." He pauses and he looks up at Cayde when he rests a hand on his other shoulder.

"Pi..." Pikachu's cheeks spark gently in warning but the sparks disappear quickly enough once he's relatively sure Cayde doesn't mean them any harm but continues to eye him suspiciously. Can't be too careful with everything they've been through. Ash does not share the same concern and just turns in the direction of the stable area.

"Over there? Pokémon or not, I'd still love to meet them."

Cayde gives Pikachu a wink. He's always had a soft spot for kids and seeing another one brought in make him miss the others that have come and gone from this place.

"Yeah, probably better not to try thinking about it too much. That sorta stuff is more up a Warlock's alley anyway. I just know this isn't Earth and probably nowhere near the Sol System. But it's an adventure, right?" He gives Ash's shoulder a pat before letting his hand fall away.

"Yep, the glownies are pretty gentle. I think there's a bantha over there too, actually- someone brought it along from one of the planets we visited."

It probably best not to think about how often this kid gets shocked. k

"Boy, would we!" Ash happily ditches the subject in favor of grabbing the menu to check out what's on offer.

"Pika!" Pikachu says excitedly. "Pikapi, Kachu."

"Uh.. I guess you can have a little." Ash tells him. "You wouldn't happen to have some ketchup would you?"

"I do!" Radley smiles. "Something similar, anyway. We have something like tomatoes." He brings some out.

The menu also describes some meat dishes, fish dishes, lasagna, and tigertubers, which are a bit like potatoes.

Keith nodded. "Yeah. A couple of times." Drift Fleet included. And there was also that issue of mismatched timelines with people from your same reality, or, at least, what might seem to be the same reality. It was hard to tell exactly if they were from a different point in time. But he had a feeling that was just going to make explanations even worse right now. He could divulge that information later.

"The Data Points? Yeah." He nodded again. "It's how we learn about everything here. The only one that gives you permanent data is the one by the fountain. That'll give you a basic history of the place, and tell you that you were brought here to help restore this place. As for the others, they're usually loaded up with information about things that they've been placed near. Like the one in the greenhouse gives you information on how to use it, how to work with the plants in there, what the plants are... stuff like that.

"Unfortunately, the main one by the fountain is the only one you don't forget if you touch another Data Point," he continued. "Like, I used the medical one in the hospital shortly after I got here because we were going through supplies and stuff, and I needed that knowledge to make sense of what was in there. But, when someone figured out how to open the hangars with the spaceships in them, I used the Data Point in there to learn what I could about the ships and piloting them, only to lose all the knowledge I'd learned about the medical stuff." He frowned. "It's frustrating, honestly. We can change any time we want, as long as we have access to the Data Points, but there's been a few times we went off planet, and changing what knowledge we had might have come in handy."

Donatello wiggles his fingers above the data point like some kind of fortune teller, pausing again as Keith indulges him in information. "Wait, wait, wait- you don't retain what you download??? Agh, what is this? Some kind of...failsafe so we don't fry our brain or something, does it just rewrite the information installed from a previous data point? Oh come on!" The latter he directs at the data point itself as though it's committed some kind of grievous crime against him. It's punctuated with a glare before he sighs.

"Should've known it was too good to be true. Way too easy, the only feasible way you can retain proper knowledge is by learning and understanding it yourself. Do we know for sure that's all it makes disappear? My brain's kind of important, I need everything in tact." He slides a longing look at the data point.

"So promising, and yet an early betrayal. Alas, now I'm not sure if I should commit to gaining the forbidden knowledge of alien agriculture or if I should wait and see if anything else catches my attention," he sighs, brushing the back of his hand against the sphere as though he were parting with a dear one.

It hits him a nanosecond later as to what he's just done- along with all the info contained in the data point, making him jerk back physically.

"A warlock?" Ash turns his attention back to Cayde. He's heard of Warlock's before, of course, but the idea one could open a portal is pretty new. It was a good thing Team Galactic didn't know about that. "Man, things are way different where I'm from. I'm pretty sure only a Pokemon could have enough power to open a portal like that, and even then probably only the really powerful ones."

"Guess it doesn't really matter now, so let's just make the most of it and go see the Glownies!" He turns back to the stable and hurries over, Pikachu hopping off his shoulder to run alongside him.

"Keep on your toes, kid. Gonna be a lot of things that are different around here," Cayde advises. "I'm guessing you haven't gotten the rundown from the glowy ball by the fountain yet. Things get a little weirder than being kidnapped by aliens that can open portals to other places."

He blinks as Ash takes off towards the stables then, shaking his head a little as he watches the strange pair go off with a grin. It's always refreshing having someone with that kind of an attitude around here.

Quintet thinks she might be getting a handle on the look of the local dominant race. Humans, a kind of ape, and this one was... definitely a juvenile.

"Hey! Hey, kid!" She's up out of the snow itself, sitting with her tail curled around herself. It's cold enough, but the window-ledge is at least clear and shaded from precipitation, "Aren't you cold?"

She isn't, for once. Thank Lark and for that; these fuzzy little paw-covers are doing the job well. Then Quintet sees Pikachu, and rises to stand, craning her neck.

"Oh, hey. There's two of you? Welcome to Temba!"

Hendrik smiled. "Not overly so. But I can show you what I do know."

"Pi-ka.." Pikachu's ears droop when it's revealed there's no actual ketchup. Ash doesn't seem bothered and just looks over the menu carefully. What sounds the best? He's really hungry and he's probably going to have to share with his little buddy.

"Guess we'll try the tigertubers? That sounds like something we can both eat." He decides on.

"Huh?" Ash turns at the sound of someone's voice and quickly spots the cat. He's also very quick to accept that it must have been the cat talking to him, after all, it wasn't like this was the first time Ash had ever seen a talking cat-or cat-type. "Nah, this is nothing. I've been WAY colder before." He says with way too cheerful for a kid out in this cold. He says he's not cold, but the raise bumps on his skin paint a different picture.

"Besides, Pikachu's plenty warm." He gently pets the yellow creature on his shoulder. "I'm Ash, and this is my partner, Pikachu. 'Guess you could say we're kinda new here." He admits.

Radley sighs sympathetically. "I know it's not exactly the same, but it might be worth trying it since you could be here a while."

He smiles. "Tigertubers coming up!" He set about preparing them.

Dustin, oblivious from being stuck in his own head, answers earnestly. "Five-thousand seven hundred and eighty-five hours, fifteen minutes," he says after a short pause, blithely. "I'd give it in days, but that would be unrealistic - day lengths vary between planets."

"Pika..." Pikachu let out a resigned sigh. Ash gave him a sympathetic pet that Pikachu leaned into with a happy 'Chaa' noise.

"It'll be okay, maybe it'll be really similar you can't tell the difference." He tries to cheer Pikachu up who's not more focused on the pets he's getting from his trainer.

"Thanks for this. Pikachu and I really appreciate it since we can't really remember the last time we ate."

"It's pretty good," Radley smiles. "I use this place's version of tomatoes in a lot of dishes.

"Sure!" He sets the tigertubers in front of them along with optional butter they can use.

Ash looks at the butter curiously, fairly certain there's no way it's Miltank butter that it's made of. Well, when in a new place it's always best to try new things. Pikachu moves off his shoulder and over to a table once Ash moves to start adding the butter to the potato like thing.

"I think Ketchup might just be Pikachu's favorite thing. I have to watch it back home or everything we eat ends up in layer and layers of the stuff." Ash explains. Pikachu nods, completely unashamed.
