WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Winter in Temba and Sh'Ka
And it still keeps snowing. The cold is also causing some of the Shadowpaws to be drawn to the inhabited buildings of Temba in search for shelter. The further away from the library one is, the more likely it gets that they may share one's living space and bless anyone else living there with nightmares. The area around the library remains free of the shadowpaws thanks to the mothcats residing there.
Over in Sh'Ka, a similar picture has been painted. But being situated within all these tall trees paints a somewhat different picture. A more icy one. All the by now leaf-free trees are covered in a thick layer of ice, as are Sh'Ka's stone-carved buildings. The wind here is harsher than it is in Temba, which has been comparably wind-free.
Please try not to slip and hurt yourself while marveling at either city.
Explore
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
The two currently crewless ships are open for anyone to step inside and have a look around, maybe even use for a nap.
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

"Is...what I would have said," he tried to recover, watching the book anxiously. He should probably look out for that. "If I was a scaredy cat. That's actually a discriminatory myth, and you should be ashamed of yourself."
no subject
"I have no idea what you're referring to," he said as he flipped the cover open. He wasn't even looking at Salem at that point, until it seemed the cat was inclined to stay after all. "Are you still insisting on a fight?"

"Dry and safe. The library, then. It seems an appropriate place for a book, and the one here is severely lacking in books." With this decided, the warlord turned, most likely with the intent of taking said book to the proclaimed destination.
"Hm. Are you someone's familiar?"
no subject
"I'm not on the market, if that's what you're asking," Salem answered. "And they'll be back soon for their book, so be careful with those horns. You could put an index out with those things."
no subject
"I am not," Felwinter replied as he continued along. "So are you saying you arrived with someone else? Are these people part of the book like some kind of recording, or are they trapped?"
no subject
At least he could enthusiastically take this diversion about the book, which he rallied enough to say, "I guess you could say they're trapped. By the system. Damn the man! Down with capitalism! Someone else should be in charge! I have some suggestions."
no subject
"How does their being trapped pertain to this discovery of magic? Or is that the trap?" In that light, perhaps he shouldn't be perusing the thing so casually. "Will destroying the book free them?"
no subject
"Oh, definitely," he could answer, which he really shouldn't have said, so he had to immediately backtrack, "But--don't! Some of them wouldn't appreciate it as much as you're hoping. They've got kids to feed, and there's not that much stable employment for know-it-alls and lawyers." Was that enough to save the book? "I'm beginning to suspect that's not your armor. Whoever passed it down to you must have had a magic book lying around somewhere, though."
no subject
Felwinter wasn't quite sure he followed the cat's reasoning. Considering that he was trying to follow the reasoning of a cat at all, he supposed it was probably pointless to try too hard. He flipped the cover shut, tucking the book under his arm.
"Most of it was scavenged," he admitted in regards to his gear. "I could not say how common magical tomes might have been though. The only library I have seen back home was more or less destroyed before I could think to look." Not that he'd been in the right state of mind to be curious about any books. Also falling warsats tended to be a good incentive to leave a place very quickly.

"Not so, where I come from. Many of the old cities of the Golden Age have been decimated or lie in ruins. Humanity's remnants are scattered, struggling to survive from nearly being wiped out."

He paused, slowing to a stop as he looked back down at Salem. "I suppose if we cut off a sleeve you could make better use of that. I have never considered that animals might wish to be dressed, but then I have not come across any who have spoken, before."
no subject
"What--how rude have you been to other familiars?" he had to wonder, which did not seem very far fetched. This guy did pick him up before a proper introduction. No familiars that would talk to him, and no magic books, meant he must have known some very strange magic.
no subject
"If I have come across others I would not know. You are probably the first creature I have had direct contact with in...a while." Or ever, really. Scavenging birds kept their distance, and his snow-topped peak was devoid of most anything living.
It occured to him that perhaps he should not be treating this cat as...well, a cat. Maybe. He wasn't exactly an animal person so he had no idea what was expected in any case.

How reassuring!
Felwinter let that sink in a moment before he turned to resume walking.
no subject
Did that mean everyone else was gone?
It was still sinking in while Felwinter left the cat there in the snow, and Salem thought that maybe he would stay there a little while longer, crouched over his frozen toes with his tail wrapped around them.
