If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

Winter in Temba and Sh'Ka

Winter has arrived on Agra 10 and with it its cold temperatures, sharp winds and, you guessed it, snow. It starts slow and gentle in Temba, but even such gentle snowfall tends to build up and over the course of a few days of constant snowfall, the city has been covered with a white, roughly knee-deep blanket - Unless someone actually remembered to keep some of the paths clear.

And it still keeps snowing. The cold is also causing some of the Shadowpaws to be drawn to the inhabited buildings of Temba in search for shelter. The further away from the library one is, the more likely it gets that they may share one's living space and bless anyone else living there with nightmares. The area around the library remains free of the shadowpaws thanks to the mothcats residing there.

Over in Sh'Ka, a similar picture has been painted. But being situated within all these tall trees paints a somewhat different picture. A more icy one. All the by now leaf-free trees are covered in a thick layer of ice, as are Sh'Ka's stone-carved buildings. The wind here is harsher than it is in Temba, which has been comparably wind-free.

Please try not to slip and hurt yourself while marveling at either city.

Explore ~~the city~~ Temba!

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!

That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

The two currently crewless ships are open for anyone to step inside and have a look around, maybe even use for a nap.

Try the network!

Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...

These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

"But.." Hendrik began before he stopped himself. And then he wondered if their hosts were playing a little game. So many thoughts then tumbled through the knight's head and he shook his head.

"You are in another world. I do not believe that could have landed you here."

Alive.

"That is a fair conclusion based solely upon the assumption that Zoom does not have the potential to take one where they have not been before. If Erdrick's lantern can exist outside of the world, watching us, who is to say we could not also travel to such a distance?"

Truly it is just a matter of application of sufficient magical force. Which Jasper, not Hendrik, was the master of. For he had not been deemed worthy of knightly tutelage.

Hendrik followed what Jasper was saying but he ended up shaking his head. This was something beyond his knowledge, to learn that the dead could come back to life. Still, there was hesitation.

"When what is the last thing that you recall happening before you arrived?"

This..couldn't be.

Ah but that is a complicated question. And something told Jasper that honesty was far from suitable. How then to answer? The thoughts flash through his mind quickly. What would be safe? Clearly after the newer armor...

"But three months ago we observed the fifteenth anniversary since the loss of Princess Jade. More precise would just be repetitions of reports and training of new soldiers and dull meetings."

A bit over a year before the Luminary had come before them. Surely that should cover anything needed.

Hendrik was still trying to figure this out to something that was a manageable and workable situation that would result in resolution. But the more Jasper spoke, the more the taller knight was convinced something had happened somewhere and went horribly wrong.

Observing the Princess being gone? Hendrik recalled informing the king of seeing her in the ruins of Dundrasil. But surely if the other had seen the Luminary, he would've heard those words.

And he mentally cursed himself for ever referring to the servant of Light as the Darkspawn.

"So nothing of note was happening I take it."

“Nothing of import. There is of course the paperwork that goes into the preparations to the invitation of intake of new soldiers, as well as escalations of one from guard paths to royal guard paths,” Jasper says, trying to drag up more relevant details. Something tells him it is vital to be evasive here.

“Oh, and that beast of yours threw a shoe a day ago and was in a right temper, such that he started nibbling on the begonias in the kitchen gardens. Which was a farce that for some reason I was summoned to attend to, even though it has been made clear many times before that Obsidian has no patience for me.”

Hendrik shook his head. This still wasn't right. Jasper had died, and the taller knight's heart felt like it was torn from his chest. Even after the other promised to be by his side forever at the end, it was an oath he'd wished they'd taken together a lot sooner.

Still, hearing about Obsidian had him laugh even if just a little. "If he did that, he surely was being a pest wanting attention no doubt."

Even if it was negative attention. There were days Hendrik wondered if his horse was a child since he acted like it at times.

"Yes, a suitable companion to the well lauded and attended knight you have become," Jasper agreed.

And oh the faint edge of bitterest envy colored his voice. But so faint. Hendrik had never noticed before, so Jasper did not think that it might be noticed now.

Hendrik paused at the words, but didn't pay them any heed and shook his head. And he did remember what Jasper had told him before he passed so he was going to try to express the things that he didn't.

"You always were the better knight. You are far smarter, and more gifted than I am."

He was more intelligent in some ways, this was undeniable. And yet the words happening at all, the acknowledgement done so openly, left the man looking at Hendrik in shock. He felt quite caught off guard by those words. And all he could do now was try and recover, to hide his shock.

"I was more thoroughly educated in intellectual pursuits, yes."

Hendrik nodded, feeling some relief as he was able to speak on some of the truths without there being no time left to do so. He hadn't liked the fact that they spoke about some things when it was far too late.

He smiled. "I still remember you reading to me back when we were young. It is one of my fondest memories."

What? Once more Jasper was just frozen. This time it was worn more obviously on his face. What had motivated this? This... cutting statement, the one that cut to the core of their past. A past sometimes it felt that only he remembered.

"I was not aware you remembered such things."

That had Hendrik perplexed. "You do recall our pact, do you not?" That was the most important thing and getting their fealty tokens from the king the day they met Princess Jade.

Hendrik hadn't been kidding when he'd said the words 'with my might and your wisdom, surely we will be the greatest knights this kingdom has ever seen.'

Yes, he does, but that didn't mean he had expected this level of kindness. This... remembering of what they were. The man had clearly abandoned it a long time ago.

"It was only you that was chosen to take the proper path of knighthood, Hendrik."

That comment made him think of the notes that he'd found in Jasper's room, commenting on how Hendrik's bearing was one more of a knight when he came back from Puerto Valor.

With a sigh, he looked at Jasper. This was hard, to get past the walls that were all too familiar to hide behind. So he sighed and lowered his head. "I have no wish for it to be too late."

Not again. So he was going to make sure he spoke and listened to his longtime comrade and companion.

Hendrik then lifted his head to look right at Jasper. "But I became who I did because I followed in your wake."

What were those words, so softly spoken? Jasper knows something was said, but he missed them, and he didn't know what to do with it. In fact, he didn't know what to do with any of this. Worse still there was the words. And they made his heart ache to hear.

"I fear you must be unwell, Hendrik, to speak that way."

Blue eyes blinked at Jasper. And he had to restrain himself for telling his childhood friend as to how or why he knew about some things or in the saying of some words.

"Why do you believe me to be unwell?"

"You are behaving far from your usual character," Jasper said, looking at the other man. This was... this was very strange.

What was happening? What did Hendrik know that Jasper didn't?

The knight smiled at his longtime friend. "I am certain that you would not hold a very good opinion of me if I asked what you believe my character is."

And he didn't deserve it either. Hendrik knew that.

"Come now," Jasper said, because he has to deal with this whole situation the best he could, "you know I see you as my companion. We guard the nation together."

No, that wasn't how he saw Hendrik at all. But damn he was so good at lying.

Hendrik knew Jasper well and he almost believed the echo of their boyhood pact. But as the other stood there in front of him, he wondered if this might change the other's heart.

Somehow he doubted it, but he needed to try.

"So you still hold to our pact."

"Why would I not?" he asked quickly.

Well, if nothing else, he can presume that Hendrik is from a point where he has cause to distrust. Which makes things harder for Jasper.

The taller knight nodded, trying to smile.

"Then I will hold you to your oath."

Well now that was an intriguing statement to make toward, well, anyone. Jasper is left raising an eyebrow as he considers it.

"That is strong language my friend. Perhaps it will be I that holds you to it."

The tall knight couldn't help but smile.

"Indeed, it seems we are both yet determined to hold to it."

Although he wondered if this somehow changed things back home.
