WINTER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Winter in Temba and Sh'Ka
Winter has arrived on Agra 10 and with it its cold temperatures, sharp winds and, you guessed it, snow. It starts slow and gentle in Temba, but even such gentle snowfall tends to build up and over the course of a few days of constant snowfall, the city has been covered with a white, roughly knee-deep blanket - Unless someone actually remembered to keep some of the paths clear.

And it still keeps snowing. The cold is also causing some of the Shadowpaws to be drawn to the inhabited buildings of Temba in search for shelter. The further away from the library one is, the more likely it gets that they may share one's living space and bless anyone else living there with nightmares. The area around the library remains free of the shadowpaws thanks to the mothcats residing there.

Over in Sh'Ka, a similar picture has been painted. But being situated within all these tall trees paints a somewhat different picture. A more icy one. All the by now leaf-free trees are covered in a thick layer of ice, as are Sh'Ka's stone-carved buildings. The wind here is harsher than it is in Temba, which has been comparably wind-free.

Please try not to slip and hurt yourself while marveling at either city.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has yet to be fully explored; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

The two currently crewless ships are open for anyone to step inside and have a look around, maybe even use for a nap.

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

II here have Tech's little sister

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-11 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Now there's a sight she's not seen before. At first Omega wonders if she's just imagining things, but sure enough, that does appear to be a person up there!

What is he doing? Is he trying to get inside? Surely there must be a way in, there weren't many locked doors unless something was jammed. Or repaired, she supposes. She runs closer towards the building she sees the strange man scaling, just barely managing not to shout up at him lest she accidentally startle him.

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-11 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
What is he doing? He's climbing, can't you tell?

And yes, he does keep peeking into the windows - but he doesn't make any attempt to open them or go inside. He just looks, briefly, and then goes back to climbing.

If she keeps watching for long enough, he'll get to the very top of the building. Then, he'll stop. He'll stand up - and just look, all around.
small_compromise: (ah)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-11 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
It...oddly doesn't seem like he's in trouble. Does he just like climbing? Omega tilts her head, trying to watch. Come to think of it, he doesn't look like anyone she's seen in the city before.

The girl's still not inclined to interrupt him, the higher he goes. He makes fairly good progress, and once he's at the top she breathes a sigh of relief, if only because at least it's something level. What a strange man!
newmemorywhodis: (Climb 02)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-11 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
He stays up there for a little while. Looks out from one side of the building. Moves to another; looks out from that side too.

She might realise what he's doing; scouting out the landscape, taking note of landmarks and other places of potential interest. And then, when he's apparently done - he starts climbing right back down again.
small_compromise: (it'll be all right)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-11 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed she does. Her brothers do it all the time. It's rare that he's left to watch, as usually she'd be right along with them. What Link is doing makes sense easily enough then, though she still thinks it would have been better just to take the stairs.

Omega rubs her hands together as she continues to watch him head back down. She's got gloves and her coat suits enough for the cold, but it still seeps through.
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 02)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-11 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Funnily enough, it actually had not occurred to Link that there would be stairs to use. Buildings like this - so tall, and yet so thin and narrow - just didn't exist in Hyrule. So he had no experiencing navigating the inside of them.

Easier, in Link's mind, to just climb up the outside.

Eventually, though, Link makes his way back to the ground. Then he turns around...and finds that there's a little girl staring at him.

"...Hi," he says.
small_compromise: (it'll be all right)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-11 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
She offers him a smile and a wave. "Hello! You're quite good at that." Tucking her hands into the pockets of her coat, she looks back up towards the roof.

"Did you find what you were looking for?" she asks.
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 07)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-11 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Link nods. "Yes."

Yes, he is very good at climbing.

Yes, he did find what he was looking for...technically. He hadn't really been looking for anything specific - just a lay of the land, to see if there was anything interesting he might want to check out later.
small_compromise: (ah)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-11 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
At least he seems confident in that. It's always interesting to see how the people responded to being brought to Temba. Some people took right to exploring, like this person had seemed to be doing.

The girl nods. "You're new here, aren't you? I'm Omega. What's your name?"
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 14)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-11 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes," Link says, nodding because he is new. "I'm Link."

And then he just kind of looks at her, apparently feeling no need to add anything else to the conversation. Or maybe he just wants to see if she says anything else.

Either way, he's clearly not the most talkative person.
small_compromise: (?)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-11 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That much is becoming obvious. Omega rocks a bit in her place.

"So...is there anything I might be able to help you with? Questions about the city, where to stay?" she prompts, head tilting.
newmemorywhodis: (Pensive 02)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-12 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Link thinks about this a moment. In some ways, he has all too many questions. And yet at the same time, he's not sure he knows even the first question to ask.

This is a whole new world. Unfamiliar, despite the Data point dumping information into his mind. It had left him feeling reminded of what it was like when he first woke up, with no memories - but still the unconscious knowledge of how to fight. It was a familiarity that was...unsettling.

He hadn't known where to start then either. He'd just been unwittingly guided by the spirit of the King.

"...What should I know?" he asks, in the end. Omega has been here longer. Surely she knows, then, what is more important about being here.
small_compromise: (you sure?)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-12 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
That isn't a question she'd anticipated but it's a fair one to ask. There's a lot to take in, after all.

"Well... I guess you at least kind of know why you're here, maybe," Omega says as she has to think about what the data point had first shown her when she'd arrived. That had been some time ago, and she'd already gone through a winter here so it's been at least a year if that's any good way to keep track.

"But if you're wondering, the Agrii do exist. They just can't come down here because otherwise they might be in danger if a storm happens. For some reason they're very sensitive to them. But that's why they brought us here, because they believe we can help them stop the storms. ...we just haven't figured out what's causing them yet."
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 03)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-13 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oddly enough, he had not wondered about whether or not the Agrii exist. Not until now, anyway.

"Do they know?" If the Agrii knew enough to think that someone like Link could help, do they also know the reason?
small_compromise: (ah)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-13 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"No," Omega admits, shaking her head. "If they did then things might be at least a little easier to figure out. Or we'd at least be able to know when to expect them."
newmemorywhodis: (Pensive 07)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-13 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Then...why us?"

This was the thing, that Link didn't quite understand. He knew how people knew he and Zelda were the ones who had to fight the Calamity; there were prophecies, and legends. Impa's story, of the Princess and the Hero of ten thousand years ago. Signs people knew to look for.

At some point - a point which Link can't actually remember - he'd picked up a sword, and then that had been it. That was the sign.

But what were the Agrii's signs? What had they been looking for?
small_compromise: (...)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-13 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wish I knew," the girl says, looking down. "They seem to think that heroes are what they need to save them, and that we're those heroes."

It's not exactly the most helpful thing. The Agrii didn't seem to think beyond getting people that could help them, but then if they were desperate, then that much was understandable. There's a lot of things Omega's not so sure of now, though.
newmemorywhodis: (Inquisitive 04)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-14 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Link makes a soft noise of acknowledgement, deep in the back of his throat. That...actually clears things up a bit, at least for Link. He understands why he's here, if 'heroes' are what they are looking for.

'Hero' is practically Link's title. Or job description. There's even an army of korok's who insist on calling him 'Mr. Hero'. Makes sense, then, that they'd find Link.

Even if Link...also does not know how, exactly, he will help.

Right now, though, he doesn't say anything else. There's questions to ask, but none he immediately wants to ask. Link seems content to just wait, and see if Omega has anything else to say.
small_compromise: (?)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-15 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Omega's a little surprised that that's the only response from him. Acceptance is a new one. She tilts her head at him expectantly, but Link only seems to be waiting for her to say anything further.

"...you're all right with that?" It's not accusatory so much as genuinely curious. Not many people seem willing to just leave it at that, not that they can do much about it.
newmemorywhodis: (Pensive 02)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-15 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Is he okay with it? Certainly, this isn't what Link would prefer. He'd rather be back in Hyrule, exploring Gerudo Town with Zelda.

But it's not the first time Link has ended up somewhere strange, and confusing, and different. And - when you get down to it, can you really blame the Agrii?

"...They need our help," he says.
small_compromise: (ooh)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-15 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
The girl looks up at him before smiling faintly at his response, giving him a nod. That's pretty much the conclusion she's come to. In the end, they're needed, even if they hadn't expected to be. They can't just turn their back on someone who needs help, can they?

"They do. I...wish I knew how exactly to help them, but that won't stop me from trying."
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 07)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-15 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
"I heard there are scientists." And that, possibly, they might be able to figure out the storms.

Although so far, Link had yet to meet any of them.
small_compromise: (...)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-15 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
"There are some," Omega acknowledges, thinking of the strange man who had wanted to see her energy bow. He'd been nothing like the scientists she knew back home, but then she's not so sure how useful any Kaminoans would be here.

"I don't know if science will help. The storms do strange things. They sometimes make you see people you care about who aren't here. It's not good to follow them when that happens. You might end up somewhere dangerous."
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 14)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-15 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Seeing people who aren't there?

"...Ghosts?" Link says, head tilted to one slide. Although it doesn't quite match up. All of Link's experiences with ghosts have been friendly. They don't usually lead him anywhere dangerous.

(Besides, Link tends to find the dangerous places well enough on his own.)
small_compromise: (you sure?)

[personal profile] small_compromise 2023-02-15 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've heard people call them that," Omega replies. "They're supposed to be of people that aren't alive anymore though, aren't they?" She's had no prior experience to ghosts herself. "The people I've seen here during the storms are people I know from home, who are very much alive."
