Spring Test Drive Meme!

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

- Explore the city! There's a map here and a bit more description of some of the buildings here. Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working, but power is intermittent and unreliable. The hotel seems to be the most crowded, but you might want into what appears to be an abandoned storefront and find someone else scavenging or even sleeping.

- There are spaceships! That's right, there are currently several small spaceships grounded in the hangar. They appear to have power, but only one ship will let you enter. (For test drive purposes, the ship that will let you enter is up to you, so just pick whichever name appeals, and go for it!) The other ships won't open for you, but it might be worth poking around the one that will...

- Do you hear a storm? A giant, power-altering storm has been ravaging part of the planet for a month. It shows ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? More information can be found  here.

- Can you hear me now? Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

- Wildcard! You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking...

Pidge Gunderson | Voltron | OTA

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-09 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Fly me to the moon]

Pidge made her way into the hanger as soon as she recognized the structure. "A ship, just when I though I was out of lu-" She stops mid statement as she takes in the sight of the ships, and frowns. These... weren't going to get her home. Not by the looks of them. She passed by a few door, checking for access panels or anything she could find on any of the ships to show if they were even functional.

It wasn't until she reached the Vanquish that any of them even reacted. The access panel opening to her touch had her looking around for anyone nearby who may have activated it, but seeing no one she decided to try the panel itself. A few button presses had the ship opening up and she peeked inside. "Hello? Anyone home?" She called out, stepping inside gingerly. "Sorry if I'm intruding... The ship wasn't... locked?" she said, hoping she wasn't about to get attacked by the occupants.

[Eye of the Storm]

The storm hadn't been kind, ghosts of other Pladins walking down the streets, or their calls from down the way. It was a struggle not to respond... she could survive them... for a time. It wasn't until she saw a figure she had been missing even worse that she lost her will to fight against the temptation, chasing the phantom image.

"Matt? MATT!" her voice cracked as she started to give chase, losing the phantom in the dark, but hearing that voice calling out for her, by both names. She spun around for a moment before seeing another figure, another phantom in his image, turning a corner. "MAATT!"

Even having seen the grave, she couldn't let go of the small hope, the hope it was all wrong, all a lie... as she charged after the specter, heedless of anyone she ran into.

[Can you hear me calling, S.O.S.]

[The image starts up and shows a young teen with sandy blond hair sitting, curled up, in a corner.]

Hello... this is Pidge Gunderson... Paladin of Voltron. If that name... even means anything here.

I recently arrived, and... I'm wondering... where is the best place to find people? I don't really fancy roughing it alone.

[She is fairly subdued, even while offers a couple soft smiles. To anyone familiar with her, the words, and the way she keeps looking away shows just how upset she is, though she's trying to cover it up.]

[Wildcard]
[Want something else, throw it at me!]

(Note: Pull point is Season 4 Episode 2, after finding the grave, but before realizing the date was wrong.)

Storm

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2020-03-09 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
The storms were the worst part of being here. No, actually, the way that it makes him feel powerless. Of course, he's not alone in that. But the storm had come upon him unexpected, and he was trying to get to where he was staying in the shops, but instead he came around a corner in the storm and there was someone shouting and running into him.

Instinct and habit has him catching the person in his arms.

"Are you okay?"
green_greatness: (not really)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-09 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Pidge is fairly small for a sixteen year old, so when she's caught she doesn't really have much to push against the person holding her with. Instead she is sagging in place for a moment. "N-no..."

"M-Matt." she couldn't hear him or see any more of the shades, which stopped her from even trying to pull away as tears start to well in her eyes. Finally realizing someone was actually there, she looks at him and her whole body posture sags."S-sorry... I... thought I saw..." She swallows thickly, shaking her head a little. "Sorry." She didn't know what to say, still feeling raw, everything hurt, without any injury to point to in order to make it better.

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2020-03-09 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
"You thought you saw someone you care about. Yeah, I know it," Tommy admits. But the storm is overwhelming, it's going to blow up quite a bit more soon. Rain, winds, all that shit. Better to just deal with it.

More than anything he wants to shake his head. Instead he pulls her along a bit.

"The storms lie. Make you see things. Come on, let's get to shelter. They aren't as bad in shelter."
green_greatness: (not what I signed up for)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-09 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
She'd wanted to see him... she'd let herself believe the lie that was being offered, one she knew was a lie. "Yeah..." She said, leaving it at that for now.

She follows easily and though she pauses at a few calls of a name she doesn't linger on it, not now. She wasn't alone out here, and survival was better in numbers. Odds... odds were better, that's what she'd tell herself as to why she wasn't just chasing those voices again. "What kind of shelter helps most?" She asks. If she was going to do this she was going to act her part as a paladin, and help get them a good solid shelter against the storm.

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2020-03-09 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, there isn't a lot of choices.

"Last time, I used caves," Tommy answers. "But anything might work."

The deeper one goes into a space, the more sheltered the area, the further from the storm, the less it messes with you.
green_greatness: (confidence)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-10 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
She nods a bit in response. "Hold on... it isn't quite as good as a sonic scan but... my gauntlet scanner can at least tell us if something is sold enough." She said.

She'd dive head first into this, she'd focus on whatever was right in front of her to keep herself from thinking about other things.

She brought one arm forward and with a single press, the holo screen popped up from it, the language reading out onto it was something that didn't look like it came from Earth, and with a few quick movements she had a faint display of things that showed only a half meter depth into the surrounding area, almost like an x-ray.

[personal profile] doubled_speed 2020-03-10 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Dude not fair that your tech works here and nothing else does."

But his powers weren't hte same, and he gets it. Thought he's going to ask questions because of that holodisplay later. Because that doesn't hurt his eyes and that's interesting.

"You really need to find somewhere soon."
green_greatness: (focus)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-11 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Nothing? Well then I better be careful with the crystal. They may last a long time, but... if it dies, this thing is kaput too." She said, frowning toward the gauntlet a moment and tapping something else. The readout on it wasn't clear, but it looked like a kind of battery meter, and a green light. "We should be good for now... it'll alert me if it's suddenly losing power like crazy." she said, looking around a bit.

"Looks like there's something up ahead... it isn't showing a wall in the back within distance." She offered, pointing to where the slight outline of an opening and the space beyond it showed up on the display.

Perhaps it will alert the stranger if power is going, but it's not like there's a guaranteed chance they can do anything baout it. Tommy bites his lip but nods.

If only this wasn't a storm, he'd scoop the stranger up and be at the shelter immediately.

"Take my advice, don't run for it. Can trip and get hurt."

[personal profile] waterwhip 2020-03-09 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ The face that pops up on the screen is equally youthful, ocean-blue eyes compassionate. She seems to be sitting inside some kind of stone structure, and the sound and ambient light of a fire crackling nearby means that she's warm and dry, wherever she is. ]

Hey, I know about Voltron! There are some boys here who say they piloted robot lions. Lance and Keith. Those are your friends, right?

Where are you? I can come and find you. I've got food and water here.
green_greatness: (excited)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-09 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Keith, and Lance?! Their here?

[Pidge is standing up in a rush, as if by knowing they were here, she could find them.

Except that she couldn't, which slows her from running off to who knows where.]

I'm close by the fountain... I figured if that's where people are waking up... it's going to be the best place to be found...
waterwhip: (Default)

[personal profile] waterwhip 2020-03-09 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they're here. Lance is my shipmate, actually. He's a funny guy.

I'll come and get you, okay? Just wait there by the fountain.
green_greatness: (coffee or death)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-09 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Lance is your shipmate? Man, I'm sorry. Yeah... hopefully you aren't telling him that often...

[She has seen what an inflated ego looks like on Lance.]

Alright... oh, uh what's your name?
waterwhip: (spilling the tea)

[personal profile] waterwhip 2020-03-09 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay. He reminds me a lot of my brother, actually. And yeah, I know--let them think they're hilarious one time and they never stop joking around.

I'm Katara. I'm not from your world, but I've heard about it.
green_greatness: (dank memelord)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-09 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
No kidding! But at the same time you gotta give them something now and then, or they start thinking they are unfunny and then they just mope around looking like kicked puppies.

[She'll drag him a bit, but in reality she trusts Lance, and would not be willing to joke like this about many other people.]

It's nice to meet you Katara. I know I said it before but I'm.... Pidge.
tempredmental: (Shocked Oh No)

Storm

[personal profile] tempredmental 2020-03-09 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Keith was exhausted. Having been through a few 'vision-inducing' scenarios before, he'd been able to tackle most of them without doing something stupid, but, when he saw his parents, together, the pull had just been too much. These types of places can do that... pull people from different points in time. The idea of being able to spend time with both his parents together, something he'd never have the chance to have back home, was too much to resist.

Now, he was attempting to find his way out of a small ravine he'd fallen into while chasing down those 'ghosts' in the low visibility of the storm. Without either of his armored suits, it had hurt quite a bit, and he was walking with a pretty pronounced limp, favoring his left leg. He also wasn't wearing anything Pidge might have known him to normally wear... not to mention the somewhat longer hair, broader shoulders, and, oh yeah, the large scar across the right side of his face.

He heard her calling her brother's name, and he hesitated, not sure what to make of it. Why would he hear Pidge calling for Matt? That didn't make any sense. Unless...

Could it be?]

Pidge? Pidge!

[But would she believe it was him? Keith wasn't sure. With a grunt, he pushed himself harder, working to try and meet up with her, only to have her come barreling out of the fog right at him. Keith gave a small, startled yelp, but couldn't move fast enough to dodge on that injured leg. She crashed into him and they both fell back in a tangle of limbs.

In typical Keith fashion, though, he instinctively wrapped his arms around her, taking the brunt of the fall even if she was in her Paladin armor and he was in regular clothes. He laid there for a second, a soft moan escaping despite his best efforts. That had hurt...]
green_greatness: (not what I signed up for)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-09 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
[She'd heard Keith calling, and while ti had a slightly different note than the voices she'd heard before... she wasn't focused on that. The laughing voice she had been chasing was something she'd been so invested in that, when she got close enough into the fog to see him, for a moment she dismissed him. That was long enough that when her brain resisted that it was a real person, with a physical body, she didn't have enough time to even try to stop the collision.

Having been in enough fights, and training, being pulled close by this same person, battle instincts kicked in, telling her to tuck herself close so she could be relatively safe, to be the first one up as a guard. And that was exactly what she did, as soon as the landed she was using some of the momentum to spring up, hand going to her thigh...

and nothing happened. That was when she remembered that they weren't facing Galra, and that she didn't have her bayard here, leaving her feeling defenseless, again, as she had when she first noticed that.

But her mind was never still long and had already realized she'd run headlong into someone very familiar.
]

Keith! Oh no! You're hurt, I didn't hurt you this bad did I? Give me a few ticks and I'll see if my gauntlet scanner is functional.

[She dropped back down to kneel next to him, ignoring the hot tears on her cheeks- even though they weren't stopping- in favor of trying to take care of her teammate. The holo screen popped up easily enough and she was moving to start a medical scan.]

What is it? I know I can't fix it out here but... I can do something, I'm sure, even if it's just keeping it from getting worse.

[She was rambling, her emotional state so frayed that she didn't have time to stop and think about individual statements before she said them.]
tempredmental: (What Are You Doing?)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2020-03-09 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Keith cringed a little as he sat up, listening to Pidge go into a rapid fire series of statements and questions that was her trademark stress response. He put a hand out, grabbing her forearm.]

Hey, Pidge. Hey... Come on. Focus. [He wondered why she'd arrived in her armor. What point in time was she from? Did she remember Drift Fleet? He didn't even question the fact that she might have been crying. After all, the 'ghosts' in this storm could hit the emotions pretty hard.] It's not your fault. I fell earlier. [He'd get into that later.]

Are you okay? [She'd been calling for Matt. Just what had she seen?]
green_greatness: (Default)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-10 02:53 am (UTC)(link)

[The touch on her forearm stopped her, both movements and rambling, as she finally just... looks at him. She notices the scar on his face, the little differences... the changes... this wasn't the same Keith she was used to, or even the strange one he'd become since he'd gotten so deeply into the missions with the Blade of Marmora. It is Keith, she couldn't deny that, but he was different from what she remembered.]

W-what?! I'm fine. Just fine.

[If there was anything utterly unchanged about Pidge, it was that she tended to cover up her upset and pain with laughter and smiles. This time, more than ever before, her attempt to cover things up was shabby, her smile falling apart quickly.]

N-No.... I'm not... okay
tempredmental: (They're... Leaving?)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2020-03-11 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Keith's concerned expression shifted slightly into an almost sad form of recognition for a split second when he caught her looking him over. He knew he had changed physically over their time together, and the fact that she seemed to be taking in those differences indicated to him that she hadn't seen them before.

Different points in time...

Pidge was from his past, and likely didn't remember anything from Drift Fleet.

He managed to get a hopefully reassuring, even if it was small, smile on his face.]

Hey... it's okay. This storm is causing weird things to happen. If we can find some shelter, we should be okay.

[Look at Keith... being the reassuring one. He released her arm to allow her to get up, moving to do the same even though his left leg didn't seem to like the idea.]
green_greatness: (not really)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-11 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[She stood up and held out a hand to him, more than willing to help him stand up and even walk, if the injury was that bad.

There was an opportunity to brush away the tears and she took it, which at least stopped them from falling more.
]

It's stupid... it didn't take long to tell they weren't real... it wasn't hard to tell it wasn't you when the person ran from me, but stopped to look back...

[She recognized they were fake, and honestly what hurt the most wasn't so much that they were fake, that they existed at all... it was...]

I knew it wasn't Matt- it couldn't be, but... I wanted it to be him so bad. I didn't care that it was a fake.
tempredmental: (Uh Well I Guess I'm Okay)

[personal profile] tempredmental 2020-03-11 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Honestly, Keith was actually grateful for the help, even though the size difference made it a little difficult once he was upright. He settled for his hand on her shoulder for balance, since he couldn't really lean on her.]

Yeah. [He understood. He really did. It was the reason he was limping now. He had tried chasing down his parents. But... wait... did she just...?]

Pidge... [He hesitated.] What's the last thing you remember before waking up here?

[She seemed to have handled the changes in him so far, but he chalked that mostly up to shock over what was going on at the moment.]
green_greatness: (Default)

[personal profile] green_greatness 2020-03-11 04:18 am (UTC)(link)

[At the very least she is strong enough to be a good brace, and she doesn't mind if he puts a bit of weight on her.]

Wh- [She swallows thickly, and the tears started to return with a vengeance.] I-I found- I was too late. I found... Matt's grave.

[There is no grin, no story of the faked death... nothing... she doesn't know anything past that moment. She is trying to keep her breathing steady, the small hitches of stuttered breaths, an uneasy rhythm shows how close to all out crying she is again.]

When I woke up... I thought I might have passed out there.

[Indeed, she was. Keith did end up putting a little weight on her after a while. But, there was a cave on the edge of their visibility now. He could make that.

But, as she spoke, it wasn't hard to pick up when she was talking about, what she was implying... Keith hadn't been there when Matt first came to the Castle, and he had missed Sam, as well. But he had heard the stories of their respective reunions later. Part of him was honestly glad he had missed seeing Commander Holt because he would have felt awkward admitting that he had no one back on Earth to send a message to. He took a breath.]

I don't know how much you want to hear, but I'm from the future... beyond that... probably almost a year. [Yes, he looked older than that, but that was a whole different story.] You probably won't remember what I tell you here should you end up back home, but... it's up to you if you want me to tell you.

[He honestly kind of hoped she did... because he hated seeing her this upset.]
