SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME

SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
Unlike last year, spring doesn't leave the He-Rows dealing with piles of pink glitter. The vast amounts of snow are still present to some degree here and there where the snow has been piled up especially high after the recent blizzard. But life has been returning to both cities with grass and flowers growing more vigorously in Temba while in Sh'Ka the especially tall trees are sprouting their leaves.

The native animals of both cities become more active again as well and especially the birbs residing around Temba's beach produce a noise that can be picked up even in certain parts of the city. Would it be wise to disturb them?

And while the weather has clearly turned warmer and the sun shows notably more presence, spring remains comparably wet. Strong showers of sudden rain are very likely to surprise an exploring He Row when they least expect them.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

The helmeted head tilts just slightly. Ah yes, names. Introductions. Normal...conversation things. He nods.

"Felwinter," he supplies, but already he looks past Sonic before turning his attention back to the strangely blue hedgehog. "Footprints?" Unseen optics narrow behind the fine mesh of his helmet, recalling the movement he'd caught past the window. "So you did run." Pause. "Up the tower."

Sonic briefly glances over his shoulder when Felwinter looks past him, shrugging upon turning back around.

"Ah, yeah. It's kind of a thing I do. Not even gravity can hold you down if you're fast enough!"

Yeah okay maybe he's bragging a little bit. You'd brag too if you could run up the side of a building.
tyrants_son: (...)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-13 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Interesting." And impractical but he supposes if it gets you where you need to go then Felwinter can hardly say so.

"And impressive. I assume that's how you get around in general, then. You've already explored the city?" It's clear enough that this one is new to Temba. There aren't many talking hedgehogs, after all.
spinsandneedles: (Somethingstrangein The Neighborhood)

[personal profile] spinsandneedles 2023-04-13 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, it's perfectly practical. What if the elevator's out? What's he gonna do, take the stairs? Like a normal person? (Actually yes he totally would.)

"I've seen pretty much all there is to see from the ground, yeah. Haven't really been inside any of the buildings and stuff yet, though. Half of 'em look like a stiff breeze could knock 'em over."
tyrants_son: (thinky thoughts)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-13 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
"True, some locations aren't much to look at," Felwinter concedes. "Progress in repairs has been slow and limited to who are willing to work on them aside from a building's usefulness. And then there are only so many people who have been brought here. Needless to say, carpentry and restoration are not among the top skills of the majority."
spinsandneedles: (Shitsucks the Humbug)

[personal profile] spinsandneedles 2023-04-13 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fair enough. Unfortunately I'm way better at breaking stuff than I am at fixing it, not that I really know the first thing about how to fix a building anyway..."

He pauses, glancing out over the city while he turns a few thoughts over in his head. Some of these structures don't look like they can even be repaired at all. Hell, maybe tearing some of them down and clearing room for newer, less shitty structures wouldn't be a bad idea? Something to think about later, maybe.

"Well, I'm sure I can help out in other ways. What kinda stuff do you guys need done around here?"
tyrants_son: (thinky thoughts)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-14 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
Felwinter's thoughts actually run parallel to Sonic's at that admission. "You might yet be able to help in that regard... I would talk to Reeve about building matters though, if that is something you would think to try pursuing."

He folds his arms. "There always things to be done. Unfortunately the main matter that we have been brought here to see to has been difficult to address."
spinsandneedles: (Sandwich the Smackbitch)

[personal profile] spinsandneedles 2023-04-15 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Reeve, huh? I'll keep that in mind."

And he logs that mental note away for later. He'll worry about finding things to keep himself busy with after he has a better idea of what's even going on.

"Nothing's ever easy, huh? I'm sure there's more to us being here than just being expected to tidy the place up a bit."
tyrants_son: (...)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-15 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Not in the slightest," the warlord nods. "You have already gotten the basic rundown. You must have seen the cause for the residents to have evacuated. That is one of the problems we are meant to solve for them."

A problem that has proven difficult to get to the bottom of for even those whom had been here the longest and experienced the storms the most.

[personal profile] spinsandneedles 2023-04-15 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Guess we can't just chalk it up to climate change, huh."

He has no idea where to even start on that one. Or pretty much anything, really.

"Has anyone found any clues at all, or are we still at square one?"
tyrants_son: (it's raining warsats)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-16 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
"It has notable characteristics that have nothing to do with climate, true enough."

Unfortunately Sonic isn't in too different a boat from the others when it comes to the where's there. There have been thoughts, theories, but nothing concrete.

"For every possibility we might present, it raises more questions. And unfortunately the storms are often debilitating to us, putting us at a disadvantage when it would be most ideal to seek answers."
spinsandneedles: (Sandwich the Smackbitch)

[personal profile] spinsandneedles 2023-04-16 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Would you say that the storms are dangerous, or are they just really inconvenient?"

Is he thinking of just charging out into one and seeing what happens? You bet your ass he is. He's done stupider things for stupider reasons.
tyrants_son: (thinky thoughts)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-16 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Felwinter considers for a moment before responding. "Both. I would not advise trying to run up buildings during one, although it's quite likely that you would not be able to gain the momentum to do so."
spinsandneedles: (Senpai the Noticeme)

[personal profile] spinsandneedles 2023-04-17 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, not if it's all wet out. Might make it part way up and then just eat asphalt... totally not speaking from experience, by the way."

He totally is.
tyrants_son: (it's raining warsats)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-17 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I do not mean merely due to the inclimate weather," Felwinter clarifies. "You will not be able to make use of your speed, assuming that is your specialty." He cocks his head. "The storms nullify such abilities somehow."
spinsandneedles: (Shut the Fuckup)

[personal profile] spinsandneedles 2023-04-17 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Ugh, no kidding? Worst vacation ever."

Sonic you're not on vacation shut up.

"So be prepared to be cooped up inside whenever there's a storm, got it. Still just sounds more inconvenient than dangerous, though."
tyrants_son: (...)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-17 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Whether or not you stay inside is up to you, but I would still not discount the storms. They can be unpredictable in what might accompany them, and storms themselves can prove dangerous enough under certain circumstances." Felwinter can't make Sonic heed any of his advise but he can at the very least warn him.
spinsandneedles: (Sandwich the Smackbitch)

[personal profile] spinsandneedles 2023-04-18 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
He's absolutely going to charge out into a storm at least once. The best way to learn about a thing is to experience it first hand, right?

That's going to be his excuse for doing something so stupid, anyway.

"Got it, I'll be careful. Aside from the storms, is there anything else I oughta keep an eye out for?"
tyrants_son: (thinky thoughts)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-18 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Felwinter won't disagree there. And he's often out in the storm anyway, if only because he's taken it upon himself to try to make sure others aren't stuck in it for long if they get caught out there.

"It would do to remain as on guard as you can. Things may be quiet at times, but there are still many unknowns to this place." And even amongst those who can be brought in, although only one incident has really brought trouble unrelated to the Agrii or this world. At least as far as he knows.
spinsandneedles: (Sillynipples the Houseclown)

[personal profile] spinsandneedles 2023-04-19 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"That basically translates to 'there's always trouble to get into, but sometimes you gotta go looking for it'. I can work with that."

Maybe he shouldn't look so pumped about the idea of getting into trouble, but here we are.

"Well! You've been a huge help, dude! Thanks for all the tips."
tyrants_son: (eye in the back of my head)

[personal profile] tyrants_son 2023-04-19 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
There are all sorts. Sonic is just helping categorize himself, really.

Felwinter nods. "Of course." His tone has barely shifted in the course of their conversation, not exactly monotonic, but with just the faintest efforts of inflection.

It also seems he's deemed his duty here over. He's investigated, he's imparted what he figures is important for a newcomer to know.

And then he's gone, turning and vanishing in a flash.
