SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME

SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
Unlike last year, spring doesn't leave the He-Rows dealing with piles of pink glitter. The vast amounts of snow are still present to some degree here and there where the snow has been piled up especially high after the recent blizzard. But life has been returning to both cities with grass and flowers growing more vigorously in Temba while in Sh'Ka the especially tall trees are sprouting their leaves.

The native animals of both cities become more active again as well and especially the birbs residing around Temba's beach produce a noise that can be picked up even in certain parts of the city. Would it be wise to disturb them?

And while the weather has clearly turned warmer and the sun shows notably more presence, spring remains comparably wet. Strong showers of sudden rain are very likely to surprise an exploring He Row when they least expect them.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

"Might not be your first choice, but you've got shit luck, don't you?" And now he goes from holding Eddie against the door to shoving him down to the ground instead. Dust curls up and floats for a moment between them.

"And you're not my first choice to meet in this sorry ass city either, just so you know. I hear Carver and the other jocks talk about you, about how you have that cult shit. Wouldn't put it past you to be a real freak."

Gritting his teeth, Eddie's pride is bruised as much as the rest of him, tension in his shoulders and on his face as he keeps himself from getting up, showing his metaphorical belly as he averts his gaze. He glares at a random point on the floor, face hot, not able to help himself from snorting in amusement at the mention of Carver and his little gang, because of course Hargrove has no idea.

"Well then- maybe you should watch who you're shoving around?" He just can't fucking help himself. Has to be funny. Has to egg people on. No matter how many times it ends badly.

Billy thinks about letting Eddie go. It's not worth the energy after getting patched up after showing up in this shithole town that makes Hawkins seem like a west coast city. Fuck this place. His hand goes to the door to leave when he hears the snort of laughter from the floor.

"You think this shit is funny?" he yells, turning and going right back to Eddie. But of course, this isn't just for him to loom over the outcast. No, he rams his boot into Eddie's side hard. "I hope you didn't just fucking doom my stepsister and her brat friends bringing me here you cultist fucker!"

Yeah, Billy is obviously mad with all bite to back up his bark. But there's something else lying under his words, even as he turns and slams out of the hotel like a hurricane.

Wheezing, Eddie curls in on himself, shaking his head with a groan.

He's smart enough at least to keep his mouth shut this time, and he huffs in frustration at the door as it slams loudly behind Hargrove, holding his side as he pushes to sit up. He takes some bitter satisfaction for a moment in the thought that Billy's pushed right back out into that pouring rain. Serves him fucking right.

But-...he thinks of Max, and of Hargrove's parting words, hating that any part of him is wanting to go after the fucker. He curses himself, muttering under his breath about how stupid this is even as he's pushing to his feet, opening up the door and squinting through the sheets of rain to try and call after him.

"Don't kill yourself out of spite, idiot- you want to get sick?!...Your sister's fine! They're all fine!"

The rain pours down in a cascade, drenching and plastering clothes and hair back against his skin. There's a lot of pain pulsing through his sides, but all he does is grit his teeth and starts towards the fountain. He can find some other goddamn place to wait for this rain to stop.

He hears Munson slam the door open behind him, and call out to him. Billy turns on heel to look back at him. Chest rises and falls with the exertion and frustration of dealing with the freak. Only he hears that Max is actually here, and she's fine. The 'they' Munson refers to must mean her idiotic friends. Billy starts back towards the hotel. This time he stops out of reach of Eddie, hands clenching into fists.

Billy might be healing but it's clear that he's still a threat. "I'm not going to fucking kill myself Munson. I've been through too much shit to let rain kill me. I'm not a God damn pussy like you. Now where's Max?"

[personal profile] the_freak 2023-05-15 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Eddie likewise keeps his distance, not eager to get another lesson in not poking the bear quite so soon.

Mostly he just wants to make sure the idiot lives to see that reunion with Max. He's not sure whether or not he deserves it or not, but he guesses that's up for Max to decide. It's not like he hasn't clung to his own destructive family members before, he understands the impulse.

"Yeah, I heard a bit about that," he says, and then smirks easily when he's called a pussy, not looking bothered by the taunt. "I would hope she's in her room so she's not soaked through like us, but I haven't seen her since this morning. I don't control where she goes."

A lesson that Billy thinks Eddie's going to have to keep repeating until he gets it through his thick skull not to do it.

Part of him knows he wants to find Max and berate her as he usually does, but another part wants to see for himself that she's safe. He doesn't know what happens after he left in Starcourt. Billy has a sneaking suspicion what's going to happen when he gets back and wants to know if she makes it at least.

That he doesn't die for nothing.

Rain sloshes down him and he fails at suppressing a shiver. He realizes that maybe he should at least go into the hotel, dry off, so he doesn't end up back in the hospital. He does not want to see the inside of that place again anytime soon.

"Where the hell am I supposed to go? I don't know how any of this shit works here anyways." He raises and lowers his arms in a sort of defeat, then drags a hand through his hair to keep some of the rain out of his in vain.

[personal profile] the_freak 2023-05-21 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
"..." There's an internal battle in Eddie's head, very much wanting to shrug it off, not his problem, especially after the bruises he's been left with. He sighs heavily and steps further inside, nodding for Hargrove to follow.

"I can get you dried off and lend you some shit for now. Find you a room or whatever," he offers, not exactly enthusiastically, but he can't just let the guy wander around and die his first day here.

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-05-24 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The bruises are your fault, Eddie, for provoking an already irritated Billy. Because of course he's find a way to blame someone else for his actions. Easier to get away with it in a place that doesn't know him... that well.

For whatever it's worth, he does follow Eddie back into the hotel. He leaves puddles on the floor and so he hugs his arms to his chest to ward off the shivers.

"I just pick a room here?" Billy finally just gives in and wrenches at least his soaked shirt off, revealing a wet body and bandages. More water on the floor as he wrings it out. "Saw Steve on the beach. You say Max is here. Who else is here?"

Finding a towel, Eddie tosses it over with a huff, but pauses when he sees those bandages. He feels bad for the guy, and then he fucking wrings out his shirt on his floor. The annoyed look returns, and Eddie looks for something he isn't fond of, and that's oversized enough to fit the guy, pretty sure it's a 50/50 on whether he'll get it back.

"You can. Some people live round here. Some people live on the ships. A bunch of people just claim an abandoned building and make it into their place," Eddie shrugs, and tosses over a change of clothes, "Mm, that's all the people from our world. Everyone else is from other universes. Other Earths. Other planets. Half of them have powers. There's some talking animals. It's...trippy. But just the 4 of us from Hawkins so far."

The bandages are holding from the doctors' work on him, and he has been going easy on himself like Billy told him to. He's no stranger to pain, but he's not up for reopening any of these wounds again. The change of clothes get nabbed and he starts redressing into them before going into the room's bathroom and returns with one of the two towels from it.

Billy starts mopping up the water from the floor. He just feel the phantom breath of his dad breathing on his neck until it was cleaned before folding it and throwing it onto the bed.

"Great. More fucking freaks. Just what I need to deal with here," and he sounds offended by it. "You got that bitch in the doctor's coat, and that other doctor that uses fucking magic, now I gotta factor in other planets and talking animals. Fucking fantastic. You're not pulling my god damn leg are you, Munson?"
the_freak: (pic#16227866)

[personal profile] the_freak 2023-06-06 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"..." Eddie looks confused as Hargrove suddenly goes about cleaning up his mess, brows furrows at the unprompted display. "Not on the bed, man-" he winces and grabs the towel, confused by the conflicting actions, and tossing the towel vaguely back towards the bathroom.

"What's freaky about the doctor lady? And no, I swear. Hand to god or whatever," he says, making a mock attempt at the sign of the cross before giving up. "I'm not looking so freaky now, huh?"

"It's not that wet," comes the complaint as Eddie starts to about the towel. Billy knew it wasn't on the floor where it wasn't supposed to be, so why did it matter if it was on the bed.

"Not that she's freaky, just that she's a bitch." A brow raises as Eddie flails his hand in front of his chest and head. What was he doing? The sign of the cross? Whatever it was, it wasn't close to that. He huffs and sits on the bed, arms braced on his knees. Then that feels too familiar to when he wasn't in control and he sits up instead. "You're still a God damn freak and I've got my eye on you. You mess with me or my stepsister and I will beat your face in."

Bold words to give to someone showing him hospitality but Billy didn't care at the moment. And wouldn't, until he was back out in the rain.

"Yeah, I gotta sleep there, so it's wet enough," Eddie argues.

"You've been here like 5 minutes, you really going to start calling one of the few women here a bitch? And you're still going to pull more of them. How is life this unfair?"

Eddie doesn't look particularly troubled by the threat for someone who literally just got a taste of said beating. But people threaten that shit all the time. "Define 'mess with'?" he asks with a smirk.
playingtough: (Arguing ∂ Yelling)

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-06-11 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Jesus Christ, it isn't even that bad!" He shouldn't yell. He really shouldn't, but Billy does because it's annoying. Whether he's referring to the wet towel or calling Tae a bitch, it's not clear. But he glares and goes to lean against the wall to look out the window. "Don't be jealous because people find me attractive. That's a you problem."

He huffs upwards to blow a stubborn curl out of his face. But that smirked question gets a flash of blue again. "You mess with her I will drag you by your hair up to the top floor of this building and throw you out the window myself. Is that clear, Freak?" Which didn't sound like too much of a threat as it sounded like an absolute promise.
the_freak: (Default)

[personal profile] the_freak 2023-06-11 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The yelling's met with a grimace, and Eddie rolls his eyes, but doesn't exactly argue. Hargrove was turning heads the second he rolled into Hawkin's High, it wasn't exxactly a secret. And Eddie 'the Freak' Munson was not.

"...Crystal," Eddie says with a nod, sense enough not to joke about when met with that sort of promise. "Red's a good kid, I wouldn't mess with her."

"Good. You're a freak but a smart one at least." He runs a hand through his messy hair before heading towards the door. "Thanks for the clothes I guess. I'm gonna see if I can find Max, or a room I can call mine then."

He stops at the door, a serious look on his face. "Don't come looking for me, Munson."
