SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME

SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
Unlike last year, spring doesn't leave the He-Rows dealing with piles of pink glitter. The vast amounts of snow are still present to some degree here and there where the snow has been piled up especially high after the recent blizzard. But life has been returning to both cities with grass and flowers growing more vigorously in Temba while in Sh'Ka the especially tall trees are sprouting their leaves.

The native animals of both cities become more active again as well and especially the birbs residing around Temba's beach produce a noise that can be picked up even in certain parts of the city. Would it be wise to disturb them?

And while the weather has clearly turned warmer and the sun shows notably more presence, spring remains comparably wet. Strong showers of sudden rain are very likely to surprise an exploring He Row when they least expect them.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships!
That's right, there are currently several small spaceships sitting in the hangar. Not all of them may be around when you check out the building, as one of the pilots may be using one of them to fly over to Sh'Ka. But there should still enough of them around for you to inspect and maybe wonder about. However, only one of them will open its doors for you. Do you dare to step inside? Check out the protein paste or maybe even meet one of your crew mates?

Try the network!
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

"Don't give a shit, I'm warning you that if you try anything I'll retaliate and make you fucking regret it," though he leaves off any scathing insults that rest right there on the tip of his tongue. Why? Because Radley makes a point and it's that he's helping Billy.

"I didn't ask to be here, none of that bullshit from that glowing orb makes any sense to me, and now I'm stuck here." And it was raining.

"None of us asked to be here," Radley says, still annoyed. "We're all on the same side."

He goes into his room and gets a towel, holding it out to Billy. "Here you go. Here's some jeans too."

"Yeah, right, we might all be on the same side, but it's every man for himself. I know how this shit goes." From his pocket he pulls out a cigarette and lighter, and takes a moment to light the former as he follows.

It gets bitten between teeth so he can take the offered towel, with the smoke curling up around his blond curls like a halo. "Got a place to change? I'm not shy but I know others don't like me treating their place like a locker room."

[personal profile] crystalmaster 2023-05-09 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
"If we all subscribed to that, we wouldn't get very far in this place," Radley says. "We all look out for each other here.

"I'm not shy either," he smirks. "You can just go ahead. I'd rather you didn't smoke in here, though," he adds. "If you wanna take your own room in the hotel, you can smoke all you want in there."

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-05-14 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Even though Radley says he doesn't want Billy to smoke, the blond doesn't snuff out his cigarette. He bites it harder between his teeth as he strips out of his soaked shirt and jeans and into the dry ones. There's muscles from years of exercise, but covering his skin on the sides are bandages protecting the work the medical team did.

"Got a shirt, too? I don't know if the city residents will be able to resist any of this if I don't wear one."
crystalmaster: (Default)

Radley's eye twitches and he clenches his teeth in annoyance behind closed lips when it isn't put out. He'll leave it alone for the moment since the guy's changing.

"Yeah, I've got some." He holds out a gray T-Shirt.

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-05-20 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
For whatever it's worth, the shirt does not get snatched from Radley. Once taken, he works the grey colored cloth over his torso, minding both bandages and cigarette. Still not putting it out. He kicks some of the ashes off of it as the garment settles over him.

"So how does this work? I just pick wherever I want to stay and claim it as mine? Probably no mechanic place here, doesn't look like there's any cars."
crystalmaster: (Default)

[personal profile] crystalmaster 2023-05-21 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Radley might ask what happened, but he's not in much mood to prolong this discussion and he doubts the guy would tell him anyway.

"Yeah, pretty much. There's a couple of techie people. I myself am good with motorcycles, if I had the parts to make some."
playingtough: (camaro ∂ baby)

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-05-21 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Even if he told Radley, Billy figures the guy would think he's nuts. At least Eddie and Steve were from his world and understood what happened for the most part.

He turns with an interested look. "Motorcycles huh? I have a Camaro back home. A Chevrolet 1979 Z28 model that's the baddest thing, east or west coast." A pause. "Never rode a motorcycle before."
crystalmaster: (Default)

[personal profile] crystalmaster 2023-05-21 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Radley also loves classic cars, so this does perk him up. "Yeah? What color?

"Motorcycles are amazing," he says. "There's nothing else quite like them. Flying down the road in the open air ... it feels so free."
playingtough: (camaro ∂ baby)

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-05-21 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, but can you play rock music from them?" he points out, smirking around the cigarette. Billy takes another couple of puffs from it, going to lean against the wall. "She's dark blue. Always clean and tuned up. I take care of her."

He blows the smoke up to the ceiling. "What kind of bike you got? Did it come with you here?"
crystalmaster: (Default)

[personal profile] crystalmaster 2023-05-21 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmm. True, you can't." Not even in his era. "She sounds amazing.

"My bike's a Harley. All of my friends have them in our motorcycle gang. And nah, it's not here. I haven't been able to get it, either." Radley sighs.
playingtough: (hazy ∂ far away)

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-05-24 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Seen some Harleys over in California. Not in the shithole we moved to." Another stream of smoke. "Yeah, haven't seen my Camaro here, so I guess whoever the fuck decided to bring me here thought I didn't need my car."

He goes to the window, half tempted to open it and shout to the sky that the aliens were wrong and he needs it. But Billy doesn't, instead content to lean against it while he smokes instead.

"Maybe somewhere in this hellhole there's parts to make a bike or a car here."
crystalmaster: (Default)

[personal profile] crystalmaster 2023-05-24 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, vehicles from home seem to be a no-no," Radley scowls. "I'm collecting parts to maybe make a motorcycle with them, but I don't have enough yet. And I wonder if the aliens will let me keep it if I can make it."
playingtough: (hazy ∂ far away)

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-06-04 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"If you manage to make it, I'll probably steal it a few times. Just to ride around this place." Being upfront about that at least. His tongue pokes out and he leans against the wall next to the window with a grunt.

"So what is there to do for fun here? Kegstands? Parties in general? Cars are off the table it seems." Ash gets flicked off of the cigarette and he takes another draw from it
crystalmaster: (Default)

[personal profile] crystalmaster 2023-06-04 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll probably let you ride it," Radley says. "As long as you're not reckless with it." He would be furious if it was needlessly broken.

"There's a lot of exploring, trying to figure the place out. Sometimes there's parties or other events. We've got a karaoke machine. It's all pretty lackluster compared to home, aside from the exploring. But it's something."
playingtough: (Manic ∂ Tongue)

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-06-06 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Billy grins. "I'm not going to make any promises I can't guarantee." The cigarette, now done, gets snuffed out on the wall and he flicks it to where the bin is.

"Got anything else? Actually fun? Like a bar or clubs or shit? I'm guessing no, since this place looks like hell." And Billy isn't impressed. Nor is he probably impressing Radley with his behavior. "It would be so much better if I had my car here."
crystalmaster: (Radley_smirk2)

[personal profile] crystalmaster 2023-06-06 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Radley is annoyed but not entirely surprised by this, and sneers in reply, "Then I can't guarantee you'll have access to it." He pauses, then adds sincerely, "But if I'm successful at making one, maybe you and I can make one for you too."

He's definitely not impressed by Billy's behavior, and as he comes down from the euphoria of talking about vehicles, he is still highly annoyed by the cigarette antics.

"There's a bar," he says. "But you're right, there's not a whole lot."
playingtough: (Smile ∂ More Sunshine)

[personal profile] playingtough 2023-06-07 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
And of course, Billy takes that as a challenge. If and whenever Radley makes this motorcycle of his, Billy will just how to borrow without permission. This shitty town can't have too many hiding spots for something like that.

"A bar is good enough. Maybe make myself the keg king while I'm here." He starts towards the door, intending to go down to the lobby to wait out the rest of the rain. Maybe test said lobby if they have working smoke detectors or not. "Thanks for the clothes. Maybe I'll pay you back at some point."

[personal profile] crystalmaster 2023-06-07 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Good thing Radley spent most of his time around teens back home, including obnoxious, rebellious ones. He'll be expecting Billy if and when he gets it completed.

"There may already be one of those," Radley smirks. "But you're welcome to try." He really has no idea what the barfly situation is. He rarely visits it.

"Sure," he says, somewhat doubting any paying back will happen but also not counting it out either.
