SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME

SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!
Thread ideas:
Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
The native animals of both cities become more active again as well and especially the birbs residing around Temba's beach produce a noise that can be picked up even in certain parts of the city. Would it be wise to disturb them?
And while the weather has clearly turned warmer and the sun shows notably more presence, spring remains comparably wet. Strong showers of sudden rain are very likely to surprise an exploring He Row when they least expect them.
Explore
Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.
More information can be found here.

That would've been his fault. So much of the shit at the mall was.
Though Billy's softness is gone almost as quick as Steve sees it. "Don't worry, I'm not in the business of only hanging out with kids, Harrington. People around my own age actually like me," though both of them knew that was really only Hagan. Even then that wasn't really 'liking' as much as being a bitch to whomever was in the slot of 'King of Hawkins High'.
The realization of that hits because not only does he not really have friends, but there's no one here for him either. The curls bounce around his skull as he turns and goes back into the water. The surf curls and laps around his legs, pulling and pushing at him but he stands there firm.
Billy plants his feet.
"She's safe though, right?"
no subject
Steve does smart at that comment though. Before Robin and Eddie, he had a friend group that on average hadn't even hit puberty. He knows it is weird and had spent a summer feeling pretty damn lonely without anyone to invite over to just have a drink. But he's got more people his own age now, at least. Not that Billy needs to know any of that.
"She's safe here, yeah," he says carefully, not wanting to lie, even to Billy. "Eddie and I are looking out for her. Not that she needs it; she's tougher than anyone her age should be."
no subject
That thought spurs him back into action, sloshing out of the water and right back over to Steve. He gets in his space, makes and keeps eye contact. "The fucking aliens can bring anyone here, right? There's others from Hawkins they can bring here that you should worry about and it's not me. Do you fucking hear me, Harrington? She's tough for a reason and it's not all my doing."
no subject
"Don't worry about Max. I've got her. Eddie and I can handle anything that comes her way up to and including you." His eyes narrow "It's a little late to be pulling this shit now, Billy."
no subject
"No it's not," he hisses, breathing in through his nose. Like a bull about to be released. But he keeps it reined in. Billy doesn't like the idea of someone else saying they were going to protect his sister and that they were protecting her from him. "I know what being brought here means and I know what being sent back will end in."
He's had the Mind Flayer in his head and then attack his body. Billy knows exactly what fate waits for him at home.
Then he backs off, sand kicking up from his bare feet. "But I know no matter what I say Harrington, it won't change the way you think about me." He picks up a rock and hurls it into the water, watching it spin before disappearing beneath the surf. "You need someone to be your villain so you're Max's hero and villains don't get to be good."
He turns to level his gaze at Steve. "Do they? Even if they try, even if they've suffered for it."
'What's not your fault, Billy?'
'I've done things Max. Bad things. I don't mean to.'.
no subject
"How about you actuallytry and we'll talk."
He crosses his arms over his chest.
"I'm not gonna say your sacrifice didn't mean something. But that was a big moment. It was a big moment and a huge choice. Funny enough, it's sometimes easier to make those than the tiny ones day in and day out."
He tilts his head up and to the side, a curious challenge for this guy he might not know anymore. Maybe. Time would tell.
"I don't need a hero and I don't need a villain. I need to know if you're someone to trust or not. So let's see."
no subject
He dies. Sacrifices himself to save that girl. To save Max from the Mind Flayer or whatever it was called. Did it wash him clean from all of the lives he took before that? For trying to hit the Party with his car and getting t-boned instead? The man that did that was standing behind him still talking behind him.
Billy looks at Steve and laughs, though it's not meanly. There's a hollowness to it, eyes bright when he sets his sights on the other teen again. "Even if I said I was, would you believe me?" Steve's seen the shit he's done, knew what he was capable of. He laughs a little, then winces before pressing a hand to where he had been stitched back together. Or whatever the medical staff here did.
At least he wasn't dead yet.
Yet.
no subject
"Talk is cheap, Hargrove. You want me to believe it then prove it."
no subject
But he doesn't.
Billy swallows all the letters and words down and swallows them hard to keep them from coming back up. He thinks of the sauna, the one bit of respite he had and how he had pleaded that it wasn't his fault with Max.
He swallows hard again. Puts on that arrogant face again before turning around in the water to look at Steve. "I'm not the villain, Steve. I know I'm not. And it's not my job to change your perspective on something that won't change because I knocked shit loose when I hit you with a plate. God you're just so soft."
no subject
Steve snorts a humorless laugh and just shakes his head.
"I'd rather be soft than so fucking prickly that no one wants to be around me. But do you, Hargrove. So long as you don't hurt me or mine, I don't give a shit what you do around here. Enjoy being the best little porcupine in his lonely fucking hole."
no subject
For now.
"You lied to me about where she was. I was looking for her per someone else's wishes. You know what I hate worse than softies? People that lie to my face, Harrington. And that includes the little weasel she was hanging out with," and he tries really hard not to think about how much that sounds like Neil talking. Tries not to think about the threat that would've been waiting for him at home. But he does, face falling from the fury that had been building.
And for a long moment, Billy doesn't even look prickly. He looks empty, vacant as the splinters sink in lower. Teeth chew at his lip for a moment, then he's pulling out a coveted cigarette to light up and chew on instead. The cherry is visible at the end and he looks at Steve, the bright blues dimmed. "I'll keep an eye on Max and keep out of your hair," he concedes, quiet though stated with some edge to it.
no subject
"You keep an eye on Max from whatever distance she wants from you," he needs to establish. "She sets the rules for your interactions. Okay? She wants you no closer than a hundred feet? That's what we're doing. You have no idea what she's been through since you've been gone and you're not owed that information until she tells you it. But at the least, Max has earned the right to make her own boundaries."
no subject
"Jesus, finally up for acting like a king? Someone in charge?" 'Who died and made you king' is there on the tip of his tongue but he knows the answer. Billy knows he took that title from Steve, and he was going to die when he got back home. So it's him. Billy was going to die and Steve would be king again.
None of that matters here though.
"Whatever you say, King Steve. Not like you have any power here anyways." If Billy wanted to go find his stepsister and talk with her, he was going to do it. The rain starts coming down harder, blown in from the sea, so he starts back up the beach towards the city.
"Bigger town here than Hawkins. Hopefully we won't run into each other, Harrington."
