SPRING TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application
Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!
This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.
A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.
If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.
So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Spring in Temba and Sh'Ka
The native animals of both cities become more active again as well and especially the birbs residing around Temba's beach produce a noise that can be picked up even in certain parts of the city. Would it be wise to disturb them?
And while the weather has clearly turned warmer and the sun shows notably more presence, spring remains comparably wet. Strong showers of sudden rain are very likely to surprise an exploring He Row when they least expect them.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.
If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.
Visit the spaceships!
Try the network!
There be storms...
Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

Mufasa / The Lion King(1994)
[ After inexplicably touching the orb for reasons beyond himself, he stood in shock for a moment, staring through everything in front of him. It took only a few moments for him to come back to his senses though, and he did so with a vigorous shake of his mane and roll of his shoulders. Clearing his throat, he lifted his paw to wiggle his toes and flex his claws, inspecting them for damage, but yet, he was completely fine.
He just had an unfortunate headache coming on.
His brows knitted and he turned back towards the fountain, circling it briefly to inspect the clear waters. He'd rather be able to jump out and defend himself than scramble and shuffle to get half of himself out should he have to quickly turn and protect his rear in this odd place, hence, he hopped right into the waters and crouched to lap at the cool waters. Even so much as dipping his face in a bit and giving it a shake to get the excess off.
In this desolate place, the sounds were foreign and strange as the scents on the air. Some of them had quieted as he started to move around, and above that passive din, he could hear the rhythm of footsteps. An odd rhythm, but a distinct one none the less, that made him raise his head high and square his shoulders. He'd watch whomever was approaching with a slow sway of his tail and hold his ground, but so long as their body language read passive, he would make no move towards them.
In fact, so long as there were no signs of aggression, he would cant his head and address them. When he did speak, his voice was solid and carried well. ] If I'm encroaching upon your territory, I give my sincerest apologies. My name is Mufasa, and I've found myself here against my will, and only request safe passage.
[ a1 ] fountain plaza
[ Alternatively, if enough people were around, one of them would invariably sound an alarm call to a lion stalking around, as he'd very much expect.
It wouldn't be pleasant with the mild headache going on behind his eyes, but it wasn't anything he was unused to. He would still be on quite high alert, though: his ears were pricked, his eyes were bouncing around his surroundings, and he was ready to react quickly. If he was approached while people were very much trying to put space between them and an apex predator, Mufasa would pause and raise his brows. They would be given due attention as someone that may be in need, as smaller species didn't idly walk up to a lion in the Pride Lands, even if he was their king. ]
Is everything alright? [ His question was firm and gentle. Stalwart and certain of itself, despite the situation Mufasa found himself in. Here, he was no king, but he wouldn't forget his decency and respect just because he was in a strange land. He especially wouldn't forget it in a strange land. ]
[ b ] diner
[ A lion strolling through the town was nothing to bat an eye at. Luckily Mufasa wasn't being so brazen about it, stuck in a foreign place as he was, and was instead skulking around. While he was quite good at quietly stalking around, minding scents and sounds, this would be easier if the vegetation wasn't all green and the only cover wasn't strange smooth rocks(debris, small vegetation, fall panels or empty benches etc.) or megalithic stone trees(buildings), but beggars couldn't be choosers.
His main goal was to not set off any alarm calls as he followed the scent of smoke and meat.
Smoke was typically a bad thing, but fire wouldn't spread through this vegetation with how moist the ground was an how green the flora. It was a wonder how it even started, but typical to most felines, he couldn't help but be drawn to the warmth. Especially since he was more suited to the heat of the African Savanna, not this temperate climate with its last winter winds blowing through. He wanted food, and he wanted to warm up somewhere safe.
Unfortunately the warmth seemed to be inside the stone structure.
Mufasa would do his best to carefully circle the building, nosing about to discern what this building was and how to get to the food and warmth, avoiding detection, but well. He wasn't perfect.
Be careful approaching him here. Upon grabbing his attention, his head would snap up and his ears flicker towards whomever made whatever sound they did to pull him away from his investigations. They would have one very big lion sizing them up with a twitch of his tail. As luck would have it for whomever did approach him, lions were ambush predators, so he wouldn't bother attempting a hunt knowing that he's been spotted out, but he is still quite wary. ]

[c1] passing by young avengers hq and abandoned buildings
[ Following the winds, he found himself heading towards greener fields and more open spaces--much more suitable for a lion, albeit it was still cooler here than he liked.
He paced carefully through the buildings--most were silent and downtrodden, and he even nosed about empty buildings. He managed to squeeze into one of them, and took his time looking through the empty rooms, occasionally nudging some of the vegetation to make it move, and pulling at some of it with his teeth(not terribly hard, just to see where they lead and came from). It smelled damp and musty, so he quickly slithered back out through the way he came in.
Someone might just hear a ruckus of crumbling rubble--the crunch and whine of metal, sliding rocks, and the crash of their falls--and investigate in time to see a lion leaping his way up on top of one of the abandoned buildings to get a safe vantage point. Or they might not make it in time, and just come on scene to a lion on the roof. That's also possible. Should they notice the lion on the roof, Mufasa would crouch at the edge of the building to address whomever spotted him, and ask: I apologize for intruding; I'm passing through, and mean no harm. I only need to know just where exactly this place is. ]
The worst possibility would be coming to investigate the noise and seeing nothing. Should that be the case, the individual would feel eyes on them, and possibly hear the shifting of debris and rocks before having a quarter-ton lion leaping at them with a short, curt roar, and his claws and teeth bared. Hopefully they're fast--or clumsy enough--to avoid getting murked.
(if you want Mufasa to pounce on your character, that's fine by me; I'm down for a quick tussle before both characters realize it's probably a bad idea to maim/kill eachother. if you wanna go w this one and ur at all uncomfortable, just DM me and we can arrange stuff. Otherwise respond to any part of this prompt in any way you would like.) ]
[ c2 ] Hangars
[ Now free of the city and the smothering monoliths, Mufasa paced more freely along through the field. He still paused every so often to lift his head, catch the breeze, and listen, but once he was off of that awful stone ground and his paws sank into the cushion of wet grass and dirt, there was a small breath of relief.
Some ways into the fields, he might even be spotted taking down a gallie in a cloud of dust, grass, and the panicked screams of the other gallies as they scattered.
Characters might see said lion carrying the carcass of a gallie in his mouth across the field towards the hangars.
As it so happened, Mufasa was looking for shelter. Somewhere safe to hunker down that was away from these primates--but not too far--and might keep him warm enough through the night. He'd spotted a large structure off towards the tree lines, and so headed towards the hangars. On arrival, he'd circle the perimeter, stopping every so often to mind his surroundings, and upon finding an open gate, he'd approach up with no shortage of caution and care, and peer inside.
Inside were great structures that had him looking up to their peaks in awe, and even here, the scent of those odd primates permeated. He'd look around briefly--to either side--and still, he would push his way inside, one quiet step at a time. Though there was a plethora of strange scents--primates, smoke, earthen ichor, and ozone--it was inexplicably warm, something the African lion needed at the moment.
Someone might happen upon a lion sitting near one of the ships' sides near wherever the engines were, pulling the gallie apart with his teeth.
Or they might happen upon him still wandering in any manner of places within the hangar, trying to find a suitable corner to tuck away into, much like a housecat would do on a chilly day.
Or, they just might come to investigate the noises of a carcass being ripped apart and bones crunching, and come instead upon scraps of meat in a pile, and a lion casually licking a paw clean. As he did so, if one got a good enough look at him, they might notice the expressions that ran across his face. In most instances, he seemed rather even keeled and relaxed, but every so often his brows would furrow, much like a human's, or he'd pause to sigh as he lost himself in thought.
Any one of these encounters could all have very different courses of action. ]
Diner
... Nice lion?
Sorry for the delay, been working in the garden and on commissions
There wasn't much that lions had to fear, but that wasn't to say Mufasa didn't want to know what was approaching him before it saw him. At least that way he could assess the situation and determine his next move.
Unfortunately the geography of this place wouldn't allow for that; no matter how sharp his senses, he couldn't see around buildings, and hadn't gotten used to how much sound bounced around and muted itself in this place. So when this creature came around the corner and stood a mere few yards from a quarter ton of Aftican Lion, Mufasa was just as unawares as he. Albeit, he wasn't immediately afraid.
There was a brief stare-off.
Luckily, lions were ambush predators, and this creature locked eyes with Mufasa. Unfortunately, this creature was still isolated and quite vulnerable(assuming he could outrun a lion's sprint).
With a flick of the tip of his tail, Mufasa considered his options, and erred on the side of caution since this place reeked of scents very similar to this creature's. ]
I can be, yes. [ His stare was stern and solid, and he seemed in no particular hurry. ] Can you tell me why I smell smoke and flesh coming from this pillar?
That's fine!
Still not sure how to handle the situation, he decided to try having a civil conversation since the lion seemed willing for that and also still looked very intimidating....]
... Y-Yeah, this is where we fix food....Do you want some?
no subject
Fix food? [ Only one brow raised and his maw curled into a lopsided grin. ] What happened to it?
But that depends; I only eat meat, and a lot of it. As much as I appreciate the notion, I wouldn't want to leave you hungry.
no subject
Well, there's probably a lot of things you could hunt.... I'm pretty sure the others here would rather you didn't hunt the glownies, though.... Those are like woolly horses.
c1!!!
Thankfully for Sonic, he's more than quick enough to avoid getting murked. As soon as his ears perk up to the sounds behind him, he's zipped out of the way and hopped up onto a near by chunk of rubble. Well, that sure is some kinda lion that just tried to chomp him. Sonic's not even sure if he can understand him, but he's going to run his mouth anyway. It's kind of his thing.]
Y'know, I bet I'm delicious, but you would not have a fun time choking me down. Pretty sure I'd shred your esophagus. Not even on purpose, these quills are just nature's middle finger to hungry predators.
HECK YEAH. honestly i wrote this one with sonic in mind im ngl
Even if it was violently blue.
He dug his claws in, crept an inch more forward, and was sure his claws would sink into soft flesh, but instead, Mufasa only landed with a heavy thud on the ground where his target was. Empty-pawed. His head snapped, he pivoted on a hind paw, and leapt once more, only to be met with a cloud of dust in his face.
After that second attempt and seeing his prey was, once again, merely feet from him--and this time talking and taunting him--lent to the idea that he wasn't going to get anywhere with this.
On the bright side, this creature wasn't sounding any alarm call, and nothing was coming thundering at him to run him down like a degenerate, so. He'd stop and look at the hedgehog with brows raised, looking like he was about to go into some kind of information overload for how much he was just chattering away at the thing that tried to kill him. He looked from the creature's face as he spoke, up to the mentioned quills with a cant of his head. Then back to his face.
Middle--what?
He closed his eyes lightly with his brows still raised and shook his head slightly, as if to clear his own thoughts from the chatter. ]
Quills? [ Mufasa wasn't about to sit down, but his weight shifted to stand more upright, instead of in any position to pounce. ]
I know I'm no longer in the Pride Lands, but you don't look like any porcupine I've ever seen. [ And he's seen porcupines. And he's learned: do not fuck with them. ]
lmao i fell right into your trap!!
[Mister Lion over here doesn't seem like a bad dude, maybe just a little confused. Sonic's silent for a moment as he sized the lion up. He could probably do considerable damage if he managed to get his teeth or claws into Sonic, but that would require being able to catch him first. Clearly Sonic has nothing to worry about, so he takes a seat on top of his pile of rubble as if this big furball hadn't just tried to make a snack out of him. No harm done, no reason to get upset over big cats trying to eat him.]
I'm a hedgehog, actually. Technically not related to porcupines at all, but still just as pointy.
A.
[ His little Yellow Companion glances around the area like something feels off. ]
What's up Pikachu? [ He asks, now glancing around along side his friend. ]
Pika! [ Pikachu responds, still looking around. Neither one spots the lion in time so when he does approach both trainer and Pokemon let a startled yelp, Ash placing a hand on his heart and taking a few calming breaths. ]
Man, I think my heart stopped... [ The human mutters before shaking it off. ]
To tell the truth, we just kinda ended up here too... [ The human says awkwardly, giving no indication he's worried about talking to a lion. ] I'm Ash, and this is Pikachu.
PiKachu! [ Pikachu offers a small wave but eye Mufasa carefully. ]

He looked behind it--nothing chasing it, so his eyes just went back to the creature. Which came to a halt right in front of him.
Under most circumstances, this would be extremely dangerous. However, Mufasa was used to subjects--even herbivores--approaching him to ask for help. He waited patiently and quietly for it to catch its breath, and made no move to leave the fountain, as not to spook it. In the interim he tried to place its species, but the closest he could get was weird mandrill.
He raises a brow and turned his head slightly askew, almost looking at Ash with uncertain curiosity as he talks about his heart stopping. His ears went forward again as the yellow mouse chimed in, and as they seemed done with the introductions, he gave the two a respectful not of his head. ]
I'm Mufasa. It's a pleasure to meet the both of you. You can sit if you need to catch your breath, and have some water. You're perfectly safe. [ A king is only as good as his word. Pikachu was right to be cautious, but the lion stays true to his word and makes no move towards the duo. ]
Does no one else find it alarming that we're suddenly here?
