SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME

SUMMER TEST DRIVE MEME
Application FAQ | Taken Characters | Reserves | Application

Welcome to the Current Test Drive for The Revival Project!

This game is a spin-off from the closed The Drift Fleet game. For more information about the game, including more details on the setting, please check out the FAQ here or the premise here.

A thread on the TDM will be required for all applications. Please view the FAQ for information about how this works. Any questions about the game please direct to the comment section of the FAQ as well.

If you are a Drift Fleet alumni bringing your character from the game, please label your character as 'DFAU' on your top level. Also, keep in mind you have complete flexibility on how your character comes here. They could be taken before endgame, after endgame, two years after, one year before, etc. It's up to you! If you want to completely restart your character, they're not considered DFAU anymore and won't need the label.

So go! Explore Agra 10! And, as always, HAVE FUN!

Thread ideas:

Pre-August 10th Prompts
Please Note: the following prompts here were written for the game setting prior to revelation of our August Event which has temporarily changed our setting. You should feel free to continue to use these prompts but note that any new characters arriving after that date will arrive in different circumstances.

Summer in Temba and Sh'Ka
Hot. Dry. Sunny. In a way the weather of Agra-10 seems overly intense this summer, and it's going to be a whole experience working through that. And every day almost seems like it's getting hotter and more brutal. But at least there are ways to deal with the heat. For one thing He Rows are welcome to head south out of Temba to hit up the beach. The purple sands are even relatively free of the Fat Green Lobsters, who are likely sheltering somewhere from the heat. But the waters are cool and welcoming so maybe this is a good place to pass the time. If you can deal with the fact that any food you bring might be stolen away by a Birbs. The colorful pests seem to be perfectly colored for the season and very ready to steal your stuff.

In Sh'Ka there's plenty of places to beat the heat. The stone buildings actually manage to keep the heat out pretty good, and there's also a lot of shade under the large stone trees. But maybe it isn't wise to hang out under the trees, as the local Deleon population is in herding part of the year. It is rare for them to gather as a herd, but when they do it's to protect their young. This makes them way more riled up and likely to attack anything they deem as a threat.

Or perhaps when it comes to beating the heat the best thing to do is seek shelter with others. The Diner in off of the square in Temba is usually open, with food laid out buffet style if you aren't lucky enough to catch one of the local He Rows who run it. There's also the Deep End, a bar in the towers in southeastern Temba where the alcohol is mostly free to access. Just remember not to bother the Colonel and you'll be fine. Maybe you can even pretend you're under water thanks to the wall of the space that is glass and looks into the water that fills the core of the tower complex, complete with local aquatic life.

Explore the city Temba!
Here's a map of Temba and a bit more description of some of the buildings here.

Most of the buildings are run down and have clearly been abandoned for years; fortunately, the water treatment center appears to be working and power has been restored to be reliable. What used to be stores or places to live in lies in ruins, but there may still be something to scavenge among the rubble. Do you want to risk a swim in the flooded area that has turned into a deep lake that has proven to be home to verious harmful creatures; or does it draw you to some of the more prominent and partially restored buildings, such as the hotel, the hospital or the amphitheater.

If you are lucky, you might even stumble over The Deep End, the bar located on one of the mid-levels of the tower residences in one of the residence towers. Unfortunately no bright neon signs can lead you there, but it does exist.

Visit the spaceships! empty hangar?
That's weird. Between the communicator crew registries, the datapoints, and perhaps conversations with other He Rows you would think there would be spaceships sitting in the hangar. Strange to find that instead of them there is a space in a wide open hangar. There's plenty of signs of tools, spare parts, and other equipment storage. Perhaps you'll seek to investigate why the ship you're apparently assigned to is completely missing? Or maybe this is the perfect time to take this huge, clear open space and find a way to make use of it. Who knows when they'll be back.

There be storms...
These power-altering storms keep ravaging parts of the planet every once in a while. No one truly knows where they come from or what to do about them yet, but one of them appears to be approaching. You have the option to find shelter in one of the buildings to wait for it to pass. Unless, of course, you rather feel drawn to investigate.

Should you step inside the storm, or even get lost in it, it will show ghosts of people you know and those you don't. It drains you of any super-human abilities and tries its best to keep you from getting to its origin. Are you going to try anyways? Or are you going to chase the whispers of people from your past? Maybe you will simply find yourself calling for help or stumble across another lost soul in need of assistance.

More information can be found here.

August 10th and Later Prompts
Please Note: the following prompts here were written for the game setting during our August Event which has temporarily changed our setting. Use of these prompts is encouraged if you want to go in with canon-TDM but don't want to backdate a character's arrival.

Try the network! (Good on August 10th only)
Upon arrival, your character will have on their person a small, handheld communications device. Maybe they know exactly how to use a computer, smartphone, or tablet, and immediately blast out a text or video trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe they're not so tech-savvy after all, and everyone is about to get a lovely shot right up your character's left nostril.

Volcanic Panic
Something changes in August. The air is dark with soot and ash, the ground quakes below you on the regular, and there is a frantic energy in the air. The new little device in your pocket keeps warning you that something bad is coming and you must find shelter. But what is shelter? Can you find it in these buildings, in this panic? Maybe a local can help you figure out what is going on. But be quick. Who knows how much time you have.

In The Warrens
Hopefully you're not claustrophobic, because there's no time for summer fun when you're far underground in metal corridors and rooms. The area is a mass of tangled paths around a large central opening, almost like a town square. Sharing the space with you and your fellow He Rows are a wealth of little creatures, mushrooms and berries that walk and build and communicate (with dance for the former and percussive noises for the latter). Water comes from small spouts around the areas carefully manned by the mushrooms, and food seems delivered on a regular cycle to a platform in the square by the fruit people.

There are plenty of corridors and dead end rooms to explore, and even more people to meet. But the question is how you're going to pass your time while sheltering from the dangers of the volcano above. Do you know any games? Are you setting up a talent show? Or maybe you're just looking for as much information as you can find. It's all up to you.

Wildcard!
You're welcome to use any previous test drive scenarios or previous game events as a basis for a thread/situation, or simply make up your own! Keep in mind that you're currently stranded on a planet with only basic necessities, but there is enough food and fresh water. Creature comforts, however, seem to be distinctly lacking. Quite unlike a gathering of potentially dangerous creatures to encounter. The setting is yours to explore and have fun with!

"Oh..." She sounds a bit surprised by that, her cheeks flushing maybe just a little. "Well, you're certainly not at fault for that." She tells him plainly. "I'm willing to let it go, just be sure not to do it again."
newmemorywhodis: (Happy 07)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-12 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Well...that was true. It was the Agrii, not him, who took Link away. And now Zelda, too.

He just had to hope they didn't do it again, now that she was here.

"I don't want to."
researcherprincess: (no time for this)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-12 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
Once again, she feels her cheeks flush has to quickly ignore the slight increase in her heartrate.

"All is well now." She says reassuringly. "You're here now and that's what counts." She turns to look the small town over again.

"Now then, any thoughts on how to help these Agrii?"
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 01)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-12 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
"The storms," he says. This is the one direction he knows they need to focus on, even if he's been a bit of a loss as to how.

If anything, it's a relief to have Zelda here. Unlike Link, Zelda is a scientist. Researching these kinds of problems is exactly the kind of thing she's best at.

Link...needs someone to point him in the right direction first.

"...I haven't seen one," he admits. "But there are smart science people." People like Zelda.
researcherprincess: (sweet smile)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-12 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
How. Is a good question and one she fully intends to devote her full attention to. Perhaps if she had more information about what caused the storms. Since they're not normal storms there must be a form of catalyst.

"Perhaps we should start with a library then. Often times you can find the answer to a future problem in the past." She says confidently before pulling her communicator out in order to pull up the map.
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 05)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-12 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
"...The librarian draws power from evil," Link says, when she mentions the library. Since you know, that's important information for Zelda to know.

Then he thinks a little further. "...Library might be evil too." Though he wasn't sure on that.
researcherprincess: (Sheikah Slate)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-12 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh dear..." It's hard to imagine a library being evil. All the ones she's ever been to were wonderful-so full of information.

"A library is always the best source of information, but if you're quite certain.. very well then, I'll need you to accompany me." She decides, still dead set on seeing if there are any history books regarding this place. Someone must have taken documentation down somewhere.
newmemorywhodis: (Happy 08)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-12 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Link nods, but there was never any doubt about his answer. Of course he would accompany her. He always would.

But it's at this point, however, that Link finally bubbles with the need to tell Zelda about all the other things. The things he's seen here, and thought, 'Zelda would love this'.

"Also there's a building full of plants," he blurts out. "And giant flying metal ships. With machines that wash clothes. And a box that summons peanut soup."
researcherprincess: (casual conversation)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-12 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
She starts turn her attention back to the map but stop as Link has more he wishes to say. She does want to see the library but she's also very interested in the plant life here as well as these metal ships and machines that wash clothes. Now she's not certain which she'd like to see first-they all sound wonderful.

She can't help the way has to giggle at that last part though-she should have guessed he'd be impressed with a something that can just summon food. "I suppose you'll have to show me." She decides. "Is it always peanut soup?"
newmemorywhodis: (Pensive 01)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-12 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Link nods. Both because yes, he will show her - he'll show her everything - but also because the soup was indeed always peanut soup.

"I tried giving them a different recipe," he says. He'd even gone an made a example to show them and everything. "It was still peanut butter soup."

"Oh. Perhaps they didn't understand. Have you requested a different type of soup? Something like meat stew or vegetable cream soup. Perhaps they thought you were offering a gift." She suggests, always diplomatic. She knows that Link is one of few words, after all. While it used to really get under her skin now that she knows him so much better finds it to be endearing if a little sad knowing his reasons.

"Peanuts are said to be high in protein-I'm sure they'd be a find meal as a soup."
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 02)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-13 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Link nods. Yes, he has requested different soups. The result had always been the same.

“Steve thought the Agrii might need peanuts.” Or a ‘reverse allergy’, as he’d called it.
researcherprincess: (casual conversation)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-13 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Zelda considers the response, thinking about it carefully as she begins walking. "I suppose that could be true and without knowing what a proper diet for a Hylian would be they might have assumed you would also need them. Are peanuts easy to come by here?"

She should probably ask who Steve is but she's sure she'll be meeting plenty of people and Link will surely tell her if there's anyone she needs to meet.
newmemorywhodis: (Bashful 01)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-13 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"...There's no peanuts."

Not anywhere, in fact. He hadn't found any while out exploring, and there weren't any in the Agriculture building. The Agrii seemed to be the only ones who had them.
researcherprincess: (casual conversation)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-14 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
"That is curious." Zelda agrees. If there are no peanuts to be found then that doesn't lend much support to the idea that it was something the Agrii absolutely had to have.

"Perhaps there's some other reason they seem set on giving you peanut butter soup."
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 10)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-14 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
Link shrugs. Zelda is probably right: there must be some other reason. But Link doesn’t have the faintest idea what that reason could be.

Zelda will probably figure it out, though. She’s smart, like that.

Right now, though, Link looks around them. Then looks back at Zelda, with a faint expression of inquisitive expectation. Where does Zelda want to go now? To the library? Or somewhere else?
researcherprincess: (sweet smile)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-15 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
She's feeling a little indecisive on that one. She wants to go to the library but she'd also love to see the green house and all the plants she's never seen before.

Which is closer, she wonders before pulling up the map again to determine the distance. It's quite clear which is closer.

"I think we'll start with the agriculture building." She says smoothly.
newmemorywhodis: (Happy 08)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-15 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Link nods, easily accepting her choice - but from the way he brightens a little, he's certainly happy to go there.

It's a building made of plants, after all. He can collect so many flowers from there. Not to mention, something else he knows Zelda will love.

"There's another datapoint," he says. "Lets you know all the plants."
researcherprincess: (casual conversation)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-15 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
One of the things she enjoys the most is seeing him happy. It's definitely worth taking the detour to the agriculture building.

"Oh." She responds, intrigued. She could instantly know which plants were which and it's always a good idea to know what plants are around. She'll have to look into it.

She waits a moment before starting off in the direction of the building, not wanting to be too far ahead of Link. She'd much prefer the company of walking side by side.
newmemorywhodis: (Happy 06)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-15 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Since the Calamity, there's been a bit of shift in how Link walks with Zelda.

Before, Link was always behind Zelda. Several feet back. Never alongside, never in front. Like a silent shadow, even after their relationship improved.

Now, however, Link's movement is much more less regular.

Sometimes, he walks alongside her. Sometimes he runs a few feet in front, eager to check out something up ahead. Sometimes he runs off to any old direction - which usually has him soon coming back, with a butterfly or lizard or flower in his hands to show her.

And sometimes, briefly, he walks a few feet behind her. Like old muscle memory takes over sometimes, before he's even aware of it. But those moments don't tend to last long.
researcherprincess: (sweet smile)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-16 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
This place is fascinating and it's easy to see how Link keeps getting distracted. She's happy to see anything he brings to show her but mostly she keeps her mind on getting to the Agriculture building. Then she'll be able to learn the names of all the different plants Link keeps showing her.

It's nice to see him so excited about things. It makes her feel like her heart is swelling in her chest. "You're certainly full of energy." She comments, amusement in her voice.
newmemorywhodis: (Happy 08)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-16 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
He beams at her.

And it's okay, Zelda. Until she has the Agriculture datapoint for herself, Link will tell her their names.

Soon enough however, they're at the Agriculture building. "Here!" Link says, gesturing towards it. He knows that even before they get inside, the construction of it alone will interest Zelda - with it's completely transparent walls.
researcherprincess: (casual conversation)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-16 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
She very much enjoys listening to his voice as she so seldom gets to do given his usually silent disposition. No matter how curt or abrupt his listing is, she's quite certain she'd be perfectly happy to listen to him list plants to her all day.

"But that's-" She starts to voice as she moves over one of the walls in question to get a really good look at it. It's like the building is made of large windows and practically nothing else.

It seems very efficient as all the plants she sees inside all seem perfectly healthy and so many curious plants around as well!
newmemorywhodis: (Neutral 18)

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-07-16 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
Link just gives her a moment to look. He knows she'll want to take it all in.

After a few moments, when he thinks she looks ready to move on, he asks; "Want to go in?"
researcherprincess: (casual conversation)

[personal profile] researcherprincess 2023-07-16 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
There's so much to see and so much to explore she's having a time of it fighting the urger to zip here and there to look at everything. Then again, if she does that she won't be able to give each new thing the time and attention she thinks it deserves.

She offers him a small smile and a nod before she heads into the building in question to get yet, another closer look at all the plants. Link had said there was a data point in here, perhaps she should look into that first.
